It's been stuck in my head all day, everyone is talking about it, and it's in people's facebook statuses.

AHHH It won't go away!

Can we have a new viral video soon please?

That's what I'm saying. How did they get that info? Apparently her parents didn't impress upon her to keep it private. In this day and age, you have to assume that when you become ANY sort of public figure, anything that people can access, they will. If you don't want to put up with that, don't be a public figure.

Live by the internet, die by the internet. Sorry if that sounds harsh but it's the truth.

You're talking about children and parents who are not 100% internet savvy. Groups like 4chan can and have found the information of pretty much anyone - for the lulz. They 'hacked' Sarah Palin's email by finding out her dog's name, they harass people, even innocent people. This isn't the more 'noble-minded' Anonymous. This is a site that can just barely avoid posting child porn on a regular basis.

That isn't some sort of 'expected and fair result' of posting a video on youtube.

Yes it is. But if you're savvy enough to market yourself on the internet, you're also savvy enough to know that there are batshit psychos who do crap like that. Proceed accordingly.

Right, so if you were stalked and harassed you'd be totally fine with it because you asked for it? Way to blame the victim!

In my opinion, to claim this is cyber-bullying is a bit of a stretch.

Serious question (to those lawyers out there) – I know that cyber-bullying is still a fairly new concept, so maybe no one will really be able to answer this, but… would the burden of proof be similar to that of libel and slander, in regard to the difference between these crimes being committed against someone famous vs. someone like you or me?

If 4chan is involved, it's cyber harassment. And being a child probably mitigates any celebrity 'expectation of privacy' lacks.

Not anything. Anonymous can probably do nearly anything. 4chan can just post for the lulz.

Correction: As a group, a good number of people who frequent 4chan, specifically the /b/ board, are crazy and can do just about anything... it's scary.

True. It's more the fact they have zero filter on their brains. They will do any and everything they want because they can and because their social network such as it is, allows it. 4chan creeps me the fuck out if I think about it too much. And yet they're mostly a bunch of 13 year old dumbass teenagers. It's weird. And yeah I pretty much mean /b/ whenever I talk about 4chan the rest of the boards don't matter >.>

Anon on the other hand, they're the slightly more sensible big brother.

Oh Sweet Jesus. This reinforces the reason I only listen to oldies.

I heard this song for the first time this weekend. Autotune is the worst invention ever.

This song is so awful, I'd rather listen to Nickelback. Which is pretty bad.

Well, clearly she isn't acting like an adult in the song... :)

I simply meant in terms of singing/making a video/wanting the world to see it/wanting to be famous, etc.

Teen stars don't live a kid's life. And she sounds like she wants the fame without all of the criticism.

I refuse to listen to it. However, every time I glance at the thread title, I think it says "Rebecca It's Black Friday."

I saw it on The Soup. Along with a few similar ones out there right now... my husband and I looked at each other when it was being played with looks of profound confusion/disgust/hilarity.

LOL. If you consider that acting like an adult, let me remind you of generations of children who wanted to perform. The Internet just provides a larger audience to those who want to perform.

Still children. Take issue with the real adults and not with the children. Children are not expected to fully understand the pros and cons.

Moreover, I'm quite baffled by the response to this song/video in this thread and elsewhere. Are people bothered by this? Does it offend their senses? People need to get over it. Seriously.

I like autotune. Everything in moderation.

Is that Zapp? One of the only acceptable uses of auto-tune.

Of course :)

I enjoy auto-tune when it's used to supplement a singer's voice, not when it's used to create a voice for the singer. Bleh.
