Ladybug, If it make things easier for you as a mom waiting to hear, MOST campuses will call a young lady well before bid reveal if she is not going to be extended a bid. If your daughter is heading over to the bid reveal, most likely she found her home!

Yes, they would not have her come to the building if she did not have a bid.

UTKALUM 08-22-2010 01:12 PM

Found out that my chapter got 43 girls! 614 girls went thru the bid matching process.

DaffyKD, thank you! My head knows that, and thankfully, the phone has rung only once today and that was after I texted my daughter to see if she was up (since it was after noon I was confident she was). Rather than text me back she called and I could hear the nerves in her voice. My husband told me he could tell I've been stressed all morning and was relieved when I told him not long ago that since she didn't get a phone call this morning, she should be ok. He's still shaking his head about how different it is for guys than girls.

UTKALUM - thank you for confirming the phone call for no bid. It just makes sense to call. Imagine being the girl who didn't get a bid among the excitement of all those who did. I'm not sure my daughter would be able to recover from that.

Good luck to both mommy's. I was in your shoes last year. My daughter was cut from her legacy sorority, but would not have pledged that one anyway. She absolutely loves her sorority.

I have to tell you it has been much more stressful being on the other side for her this year. She hasn't slept all week, and is very stressed about hurting girls feelings along with the chapter getting the girls they really want.

Like all of you... I am waiting to hear from her about how they did overall.

Utk alum: what chapter?

ladybug84 08-22-2010 01:43 PM

She just texted me...

Alpha Chi Omega!!!

Boy, do I feel better now!

Morton 08-22-2010 01:49 PM

AXO is a great chapter at UT.

I just got a text from my daughter, and she said that her sorority did 'fantastic.' I think she's going to need to sleep for a week:-)

She also just sent me a picture of the inside of panhellenic right now. It looks so exciting - and is as hot as all get out, she says. My guess is the adrenaline is flowing and they're all roasting - and when it wears off later today they'll all need to sleep for a week.

Another great one Vol Mom. My daughter is a Phi Mu and has lots and lots of close friends in Tri Delt. I'm sure they will meet.

Well ladies... the stressful week is over, and you can now get some rest yourselves!

ladybug84 08-22-2010 02:31 PM

VolMom - my daughter told me her suitemate got a bid from Tri Delt - and she's from out of state. Hmmm...wouldn't it be funny if you were her mother?

HappyKappaMom 08-22-2010 02:35 PM

Congratulations to all!

AoPiMommy 08-22-2010 02:37 PM

Okay girls!!!!!!!!!!

I have a new member of Alpha Chi Omega and a new member of Pi Beta Phi. I know nothing about these chapters at UT, but my twins seem very happy! YAYAYAYAAYAYA -- it is over.

kendr 08-22-2010 02:46 PM

WOW, twins! AoPiMommy, UT is blessed in that all of the chapters there are strong--some bigger than others, but all strong.

Congratulations to all the Moms and their daughters. Glad everyone had happy endings! YAY!
