A few more entries from the vault
Back to the top with a few more entries:
Lift (2000) A successful department store clerk steals clothes and sells them on the street for profit and kicks. BOR-ING! Makin' Baby (2002) An aspiring music artist's wife wants to become a mother but can't conceive. Could this be their lucky night? Features Mystikal as a music label producer. Go For Broke (2003) Two broke men, one black and one white, (Pras Michel and Micheal Goorijan) win the $10 million state lotto and can pay their landlord and two loan sharks (Glenn Plummer and Bobby Brown). But a female burglar named Star (LisaRaye) robs the restaurant they were in and takes the lotto ticket to write a phone number on it. She gets apprehended and goes to prison--with the lotto ticket. The two men dress as women, deliberately commit a crime and "follow" Star into prison to get the ticket. In short, this is a cross between "Bosom Buddies", "Oz" and "Stir Crazy". Personally, I didn't think it was that bad; it kept my attention throughout the movie. |
Has anyone seen Durdy Game? I heard it was worth renting. When I was in BB last week, the DVD wasn't available. There was only ONE copy in the store.

One of my friends told me that it was kind of good. I may go and rent it.

ANOTHER ENTRY FROM THE VAULT!!! Bachelor Party: Overxposed (2003). A man is getting married and his friends are throwing a bachelor party in his honor. His fiancee is against it (naturally). He makes a promise not to mess around. Can he keep his word? Is his fiancee keeping a secret from him? Well, one of the guy's friends who was coordinating the bachelor party was giving him empty promises (IMHO), like "This party is gonna have some women that's gonna make Janet Jacme jealous. It's gonna be dirtier than a Jake Steed video, dawwwwg." When I saw the party scene, I wanted to smack the dude for lying his head off. Notable point: What is up with the "commercials"? Every 10-15 minutes or so, a scene would end and seguine into a segment where someone would ask various people (men and women) what they think about bachelor parties and these folk would give their testimonials about their views and escapades during these events. At the end of the flick, the last persons to be asked were, you guessed it, the male cast members. Do me a favor, stick with the classic 80s Tom Hanks version. |

OK, more entries
IMHO, this flick wasn't bad, but then again this movie was filmed in my hometown: Jacked Up (2002): A teenager (RonReaco Lee) must kill an innocent civilian as an initiation into Zach's (Bizzy Bone) gang. He does so and with it comes the regret. In order to make amends, he befriends the man's widow (Anna Marie Horsford), and children (Brandon Thomas and Alexis Fields). As the bonds between him and the family get tighter, the ability to confess his sin gets harder. Filmed primarily in Columbus, Ohio's near East Side; Main Street to the North, I-70 to the South, 18th St. to the west, and Loeffler Ave. to the east. (BTW, that area really is a ROUGH part of town). Other notable facts: to make ends meet, the widow prostituted herself part time. During the Main St. streetwalk scene, the director noted that someone went up to Anna Marie Horsford and an extra and tried to proposition them, not knowing that it was for a movie. Oh, and one more thing: Alexis Fields was HOT! Grrrrrowl! But then again I have a thing for nerdy girls. I had another flick to mention, but I will post it later. |
Motives:
Has anyone seen this film? It stars Shemar Moore, Vivica A. Fox, Golden Brooks, even Keshia K. Pullman is in the film. I think it's from the producers of Trois and Trois :2 Pandora's Box. The plot attempts to twist and turn like those mentioned above, but it wasn't quite there. |
30 Years to Life...very disappointed!
Nora's Hair Salon.... |

I too, gave it a "thumbs down". |
ttt: Motives, plus another entry from the vault

Another entry: The Naked Truth (2004). Another entry from Xenon Pictures featuring a ghetto-ized version of "The Players Club", only in this one, strippers are getting gang-raped (by getting them extra drunk) and even killed. The story line was disorganized, I couldn't follow what was going on and to whom. The DVD bonus features included a segment on the strippers lifestyle, and the ups and downs thereof, something I would've like to see on The Players Club DVD. |
