I am very upset that people may think we don't give a damn about that stuff at my chapter.

I really don't think anyone's blaming your chapter, they're blaming the crazy girl.

Yeah, this has been my thought as well.

Particularly since her early posts (that she's deleted) said this:

I'm not sure if things have changed there. I know that there are sometimes a large number of Juniors that rush, simply because we have branch campuses and that is when most women transfer from them. As far as Freshmen go, I'm not sure. They may have changed that but, I remember that many Freshmen women could go through in their first semester. It may have been suggested they wait. I'm not sure.

Wow.

Just. Wow.

Well regardless, you say she knew stuff she couldn't have known if she weren't a Phi Mu, at least as far as the chapter stuff went. I hope you've verified her name with a sister directory as it's possible she pledged/dropped or was expelled or hell, roomed with a Phi Mu who was indiscreet.

It's a shame if she is a member. I hope her real life presentation is vastly more mature than her online one.

Yep. I'm friends with the Advisor and I still talk to some of the girls. Once again, I apologize if she has offended anyone.

I for one feel bad for the OP of this thread. This is a pretty huge hijack!

I also feel bad I have nothing new to offer in terms of recruitment themes. I would definitely do a google search or a search on here, as I'm sure this has been discussed before. You could also check the major t-shirt designing companies (Greek101 for example) and they usually have shirts from other campuses that they've done and you may be able to get an idea from one of those! Good luck!

ETA: Although, I did enjoy reading the trainwreck that this thread became :D

We discussed recruitment and THON. I'm not mad but, I really wish I knew what all happened and what all has been going on. I have been busy going back and forth to visit my family, so I haven't really had much time to be on here. What is going on and where are all these quotes coming from?

;) I think your posts in this thread are sweet and well intentioned.

However, I also think it's possible that you fell for the trollperp's trap. I seriously doubt that a real Phi Mu would type something like "just ask Aubrey" (which is an attempt to call you by name (assuming she really was talking about you) and name drop) in reference to her chapter sister who she only knows through GC and private messaging over a short period of time. Even if she researched you through the chapter you are both from, it would take a failed mental health evaluation for her to actually try to use the name in this thread. She could've typed "als463" if she was sincere and really wanted some backup (although the best backup is for her to shutup then she wouldn't need reinforcements).

I think she's probably a perp just as remmie_k is probably not really a PNM. But, if phimuburberry really is a Phi Mu and your chapter sister, it doesn't reflect on Phi Mu or your chapter at all, just as what the rest of us type (good or bad) only reflects on our GLOs to those who care way too much and can't see the forest for the trees. :)

Nope, not last I checked. But we haven't heard from any of our trolls today yet.

SAT Scores

SAT scores are reported on a scale from 200-800, with additional subscores reported for the essay (ranging from 2-12) and for multiple-choice writing questions (on a 20-80 scale). Your scores tell college admissions staff how you did compared with other students who took the test. For example, if you scored close to the mean or average — about 500 on SAT critical reading and 500 on SAT mathematics — admissions staff would know that you scored as well as about half of the students who took the test nationally.
. . .

SWTXBelle, thank you for posting that. I knew that when I took the SATs the scoring range was 200-800, and although scoring has been adjusted from time to time since then, I hadn't heard of anything like 500 being a top score for math and critical reading.

Well, even though she only told us her math score I think we can assume critical reading and writing were also not top scores.

I think it was only out of 1600 when I took it but I took it in 8th grade, not high school so I'm not sure when they changed it up.

you took it in 8th grade wtf? And they changed it in 2004. I was the last year to take the old before the written section.

My school had some thing about how you could take the ACT/SAT if you did well enough on your state based tests. I test well. I did the ACT in 7th grade and the SAT in 8th grade. I think I took the SAT again my freshman year because I was considering transferring to the Illinois Math and Science Academy but ended up not doing so.

And us Midwesterners use our ACT scores for college as a general rule.

I don't know what you are talking about seriously, nobody I know takes the ACT or SAT before 10th grade. Mine had calculus and chemistry on it! That isn't 7th grade stuff. The math was independent for a total of 500 so I don't think I did bad. The English part I made almost a perfect score on. I might not be as perfect with my grammar but I can comprehend stories well.

It was not common for us to do. And they changed the test since i took it, it was only math and English. As I said, i test well.

However the SAT is out of 800 for each category so either you took a different test, or you've got the numbers wrong.

SWTXBelle 06-22-2010 09:44 PM

It is very common for qualified students to be asked to take the SAT as 7th graders- it is how the Duke University Talent Search identifies its participants. http://www.tip.duke.edu/talent_searches/grade_7/

You have "backed up" nothing you've said about the SAT - every comment you've written has demonstrated an incredible lack of knowledge about the test. I believe I may be forgiven for not believing anything you write concerning the College Board and any of their examination programs.

I will repeat Molly Ivin's brilliant quote again - "The first rule of holes is that when you are in one, stop digging!"
