Fish fry fundraiser. Alumnae chapter sponsors. Is depledge the only option for NPC, in general? |

My chapter wasn't really a stickler and let women with busy schedules slide on a lot of stuff they shouldn't have, and we even granted "early alumna" status (even though there isn't one and I believe we still counted them as active members when it came to IHQ. More experienced squirrels can correct me on this if I'm wrong, but I don't think I am, per the LC visits we got all the time. |
Tri Sigma does not have early alumna status. We only have 5th year alumna status (eg. you're entering your 5th year in school and do not wish to stay active).
There is an Inactive Status for those who need to take it for student teaching, study abroad, or some sort of serious issue (medical or financial). However, you can only use it for a year, after that you must reapply and HQ will re-evaluate the situation. It has been granted for financial hardship before, but not in a sense of "i'm a poor college student and can't afford it." More like, "I lost my car in a flood and in turn lost my job and can't pay dues." |
Thanks.
So, generally speaking, people don't depledge just because they are broke. |

They don't work with you if you're at every party with a handle of liquor/case of beer that you bought yourself. |

Sometimes people see the financial reason as an excuse when in all actuality they're just not that into greek life.

Another favorite: the girl who couldn't pay her dues, yet had a new lettered hoodie for every day of the month, every little knicknack that Greek Gear sold, etc. That's not someone who is trying to make it work. Take care of your basic fees first, before buying extras. lol. but back on topic: Generally speaking, you don't have to depledge if you have money problems. We will try to make it work for you if you're willing to try. |
It is never okay to perpetrate. As a memeber of a NPHC sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., we frown upon those who would be disrespectful. As a member of the International Fraternity of Delta Sigma Pi we feel the same way. We worked hard for what we have. No one has the right to wear letters of a Greek organization that they rightfully do not belong to.

Welcome to the board. Make sure to drop by the Ave. and introduce yourself.
