Really?? Are you like, 13?? Even the "popular, pretty, rich" girls with a closet full of designer fashions and enough monthly spending money to feed a village in Guatemala can spot a faker and a user.

Either you are a troll or very, very immature.

Alas, "irregardless" is now an official word in the language. Check out a recent Webster's unabridged. I guess when people misuse or just outright make up words, eventually some become part of the language. Sigh.

As for Rebelcheergirl, there are no words.

So sad. What's even sadder is that there are those *special* people who will insist on using "irregardless" because "It's in the dictionary! I checked!" and won't understand why educated people will look unfavorably upon them.

...OK, sorry for getting off track; back to the topic at hand!

AZTheta 04-12-2010 10:52 AM

Way off the topic, but maybe a redeeming comment?

from Dictionary.com (bolding mine)

"Usage Note: Irregardless is a word that many mistakenly believe to be correct usage in formal style, when in fact it is used chiefly in nonstandard speech or casual writing. Coined in the United States in the early 20th century, it has met with a blizzard of condemnation for being an improper yoking of irrespective and regardless and for the logical absurdity of combining the negative ir- prefix and -less suffix in a single term. Although one might reasonably argue that it is no different from words with redundant affixes like debone and unravel, it has been considered a blunder for decades and will probably continue to be so."

Makes me cringe when people use "irregardless". The entire entry is very enlightening.

"Irregarless" on the poster's stupidity on so many issues, I will comment on how KSUViolet guessed (correctly) that you're are a cheerleader: Your signature. Please understand that the ladies on this board (be they 15 or 95) READ what they have written and what is written. They THINK about what they are saying and what is being said. And they edit (and this comment was heavily edited) what they say, most of the time, to be the ladies that (I am adding myself to this comment) we are in life.

And, if you are not a troll: (sorry, I'm about to be unlady-like) your school and environment produced a intellectually challenged 3.8 (weighted I'm sure) young woman, who lacks the intelligence, common sense, the ability to write a cohesive sentence with the sense of entitlement to use abuse and use people to gain their objectives be it for a boyfriend, sorority or friend.

GO TEAM!!!!!!

(To all others: I am sorry.)

I think Rebelcheergirl not only needs to finish her English Homework, she needs to understand her English Homework.

first of all the quarterback comment was a joke..........which is why i put the :p after it. and i will be rushing even if some of u dont want me to. going through rush is my right........after all its a free country!!!!!

im glad irregardless is in the dictionary so people can stop giving me crap about it. i AM educated and i work hard for my grades. you can make fun of my school all you want, but i got a 28 on the ACT so im no dummy. i just dont care to edit and reedit a posting on some lame chat site so people i dont know wont judge me. sorry but i dont care what you all think.

unlike some people im openminded enough to give people the beenfit of the doubt. if a girl transferred to my school and kpet talking about how she was popular id still be nice to her and try to find out why shes like that. maybe shes just insecure, or maybe she doesnt know any better. i certainly wouldnt make fun of her and insult her before i even got to know her!!!!!!

i read the recruitment stories and i watch greek so i kno as much as i can about what rush is like without ever going through it yet. i did my research no worries. i know whats expected of me and i WILL deliver.

Beat me too it. I love the people who are "I watched and read plenty of fictional depictions of Greek Life, so I won't listen to the advice of actual members."

The problem is, it sounds like this girl didn't care if they were a match or not. she just wanted to be part of a popular chapter. To use your example, it's like dating a complete douch of a guy that you can't stand and have nothing in common with, just because he is like a star quarterback. Recruitment shouldn't be a popularity contest. It should be about finding the place that fits you as a new home.

MESSAGE!

ok this must be my Northeastern snootiness showing, but why do the "omgeezy im sooooo smart i got XX on the ACTs" posters always quote ACT scores? i know we've discussed this on GC before, but clearly all these wannabe, entitled hot messes are coming from the same part of the country.

now had you said "i got a 2300 on the SATs"... well i'd still give you side-eye, but at least for many of us, it would legitimatize your so-called smarts.

and you watch greek... umm, good for you?

No, but I'd judge that genius on her inability to correctly spell the word 'genius.'

You sure about that? I mean, really sure? Although, the last I checked, 28 is probably pretty good for a genious.

Well, except for the one Violet directed you to. You know, the one you said was too long?

ETA: Sorry, ellebud, for continuing the derailment of your thread.

aggieadpi_01 04-12-2010 04:18 PM

Trainwreck anyone?

And I predict this will enter the trainwreck thread in 3...2...1...

RebelCheerBabii 04-12-2010 04:18 PM

i got a 2040 on the SAT.......not sure why the ACT wont make me legitimate but the SAT will but whatever makes u happy i suppose.

i started reading the thread violet sent me to this afternoon. i had an ap english test i had to study for last night so i didnt have time but hopefully ill have a little time tonight before i have to start my homework. im aware that greek is nothing like real greek life, i just meant that in the show people who are rude and fake dont cut it, especially with recruitment. thats why i know better than to treat people during recruitment the way people here treat me .

i would never TyPe LyKe ThIs because its annoying. and whats with the gravestone? that makes no sense. you people confuse me.
