Ok, if the video's online, generally you need to use a program to download it. I only know windows, so I don't know what crosses over to Mac or not. But Firefox has an addon called Flashgot that lets you download youtube or any other video online. There are other sites or programs that let you download on line vids.

then a website like http://www.gifninja.com/ConvertVideoToGif.aspx
will help you convert to gif.

That's the easiest way I know of.

ETA: http://gickr.com/ looks like it converts straight from youtube.

Thank you sooo much!! I'm computer savvy enough, but I have issues trusting downloads.
