Well, far be it for me to point this out, but if her parents allowed to her keep the child as opposed to giving it up for adoption or aborting, it doesn't seem like they are all that concerned about her education anyhow. I mean her parents didn't insist that she get on birth control....How can they as parents not realize that this is the worst case scenario? This is why abstinence only sex ed is a total waste. |

Oh, wait. She's probably just going to continue to live at home with Mommy and Daddy, while expecting Babydaddy to take care of them (I remember her saying something like "How are you going to take care of us if you can't graduate??'). Good luck with that. Next week is going to be pretty interesting. It looks like this girl AND HER MOM are pregnant at the same time. Girl and her babydaddy are living under the same roof with her prego mom and there appears to be lots of arguing. lol. |

Keeping your baby =/= not caring about your education. The actions AFTER having your baby dictate whether you truly care about your education. |
I was so angry when Ebony's mom sat there in the counselor's office like "How's she going to do these two classes to graduate, she doesn't have time!"
WTF? Yes, she messed up, but SHE is YOUR baby. YOU are still responsible for her. You need to make sure that you find a way for her to finish school! No matter what! She made it this far! You need to get a babysitter, you need to get a daycare, whatever you need to do to get her to walk and get a diploma. She can't come this far and fail at every single aspect of life! That was so wrong. The boyfriend is borderline retarded. She needs to be able to depend on herself at the end of the day. And she can do that. She can still fulfill her dream of joining the Air Force, but only with GOOD support, not half-assed support. Note that Ebony's father was absent from the whole thing. So sad... |

That's not what I said. Re-read....and don't assume that's what I said. Thanks. ETA: I just need to clarify, in case anyone else thinks like epchick, in my opinion the best place for any child is in a two parent household with both mom and dad in the picture. In my opinoin 16 year olds don't make the best parents, and in my opinion a child born to a 16 year old has a much lower chance of doing well in life. Yes, there are exceptions to that statement. Also, epchick, perhaps you should not put words into my posts that are not there. I don't need you to read me your riot act. Nor is what you interpreted about what I said correct. My opinion is just that, so why don't you go put words in someone elses mouth for today. K, thanks. |

You added your interpretation. I just wanted to clarify, because apparently to you, 16 year olds having kids is a great idea...but that's just my interpretation.:) ETA: I clarified my opinion for you, I don't know why you have to be so hostile towards me. A two parent household with both mom and dad in a loving relationship is the best possible place for any child. And again, if her parents were concerned with her education, things would be different, but apparently, they were not. |

Seriously, if I misinterpreted what you said, all you had to do was nicely say that I did. No need to get all hostile about it. Geez. |

It took me a long time to get through the first episode. I watched it online and I had to keep pausing it and restarting because it was too much for me to stomach all at once. I may need help with this because I have high moral standards when it comes to premarital sex anyway so I don't understand the crawling into bed with someone who isn't your husband ... but I digress...
First of all, I was wondering ... since when do you make such an important, life-altering decision such as who to have sex with and not talk with that person about the possibility of having children? I understand that people have one-night stands (I can't judge, I've never done it) with strangers and talking about having kids in situations such as these are awkward ... awkward, maybe, but not unnecessary! And if that potential sex partner is a significant other, I don't think there is any excuse for not talking about it! In the first episode, I was mad at Maci(?) and her boyfriend. She should have taken care of business before ever deciding to have a child with him because it's quite obvious that he is a jerk and not willing to step up, be a man, stop hanging out with his friends so much, and be an integral part of his child's life. And he, like I said, is a jerk and I was so mad every time he walked out to go hang out with his friends. I don't know how much more of the show I can take ... I also watched the cheerleader (Farrah) whose mom was overbearing and Ebony who seemed to be in the most promising relationship of all. |

These are 16 year old KIDS. They didn't think about the stuff you're talking about because they weren't LOOKING at the BIG PICTURE. I'm also sure that no one "decided" anything before sleeping with anyone. Again, these are kids and they didn't plan for this to happen. All they were interested in was having sex with their bfs. They probably never thought they'd get pregnant. No kid ever does. They have the "it won't happen to me" syndrome. Since they don't think it will happen to them, they rarely take their parents advice and get on the pill or use a condom, and that typically = a baby. |
