As to UT - the biggest problem is real estate. No sorority could compete without a house, and there is simply no property to be had near campus. (There are other obstacles, but that's the biggest.) I know of another sorority which has an endowment specifically set aside for if they ever return to campus. They desperately need to have more chapters, but I don't see it happening in the immediate future. |

Carnation, isn't the NC Beta chapter of Pi Phi still active at Duke?
|
Whoops! I mean Wake Forest, I'll correct that! I'm told that that chapter insisted on continuing some pretty bad traditions from when they were a local, as did several of the sororities who used to be locals.

Phi Mu Delta
It would be nice to have our dormant chapters in Pennsylvania re-opened. And some of our dormant chapters in the Big 10 universities that closed in the 1930s-1940s, especially our first colonization at Northwestern after our founding.
And then colonize in the Midwest and more south in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and other nearby areas. New England doesn't seem to be fertile ground for fraternities at this time. |
I think Texas has a culture problem that needs to be remedied before they can be a truly healthy greek system

Just a quick correction that Chi Omega was colonized at the University of Rochester, not Rochester Institute of Technology!

I miss them too.
[QUOTE=Rose&WhiteAlum;2323776]I would LOVE to see Phi Mu re-colonize at Rollins (Alpha Omega) and Stetson (Alpha Xi). We had a chance with Rollins last fall when they were open for expansion, but we were ultimately not chosen. One can always dream, though!
I'd also like to see us colonize at UCF and University of Tampa.[/QUOTE I have dreamed of UCF and University of Tampa too. |

Well, the dance party for one... things like that shouldn't be allowed. And I could be wrong, but from what I hear, sororities tear down other sororities A LOT there. I think the current groups would have to be supportive of a new group and right now, I'm not sure they would be.

Brown is an interesting case. We have that chapter because we absorbed a local that had chapters at UMaine, Brown and Tufts, but Beta never actually functioned. The story is that Greek life was being closed at Brown so those women were initiated and immediately made alumnae. If you look at irishpipes' thread, though, you'll see that KAT and SK were on campus until 1912 after Beta closed in 1908. Kappa was at Randolph Macon Women's College in Lynchburg (now Randolph College.) Randolph College doesn't have NPCs. Per Wiki, "The college [Randolph Macon] has a historical relationship with Randolph College (formerly known as Randolph–Macon Woman's College) in Lynchburg, Virginia. The former women's college was founded under Randolph–Macon's original charter in 1893 by the then-president William Waugh Smith; it was intended as a female counterpart to Randolph–Macon. The two schools later separated to become distinct institutions governed by two separate boards. Randolph–Macon College became co-educational in 1971 with the enrollment of 50 women and the first full-time female faculty member. (Randolph College became co-educational in 2007.)" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randolph–Macon_College |

Interesting! Of these we have re-colonized at Wake Forest and Oregon, with Virginian Tech in the works for the future. We did colonize at Louisville. As for the rest noted above, I've changed my mind regarding Dartmouth, Arkansas, and Transylvania. |
