He paints me to be this horrible person, but last time I checked, it was Tom that took things personal and offline by meddling in private official Alpha Gamma Delta business?

What's the deal, Tom? The women at HPRL getting creeped out by your lewd and disgusting PMs again? Are they not giving you attention?

Why can't you admit to being who you are? Be proud. You have been on here for years being cruel to others (when you're not making up lies about your life and bragging about your group sex experiences like Craig did). The "Random" thread even had to be re-started because of your acts.

I've read and liked Lady Longhorn's post linked in OTW's signature, but what happened after that?

Will someone PM me? Thank you.

I have mixed feelings about free range meanness and moderation, but this seems to have blown up bigger than usual and I'm curious about what happened.

It's not the usual gang bang you brag about in the dating forum, but I do hope the truth is "entertaining".

I posted a thread asking why it was removed. That was moved as well.

It was pointed out that several similar threads in the Recruitment forum about heli-parenting (started by other users) were either moved or closed as well, but the one that was started by one of the moderators of that forum remained.

The moderator in question has yet to step up to the plate and explain why LadyLonghorn's post was moved without explanation because as you saw in my link, the post itself wasn't bad at all. Several moderators agreed. Many have pointed out that the thread was moved because the content of discussion just hit too close to home for that moderator.

At one point THIS thread was locked, but DeltAlum unlocked it. Rashid's post about heavy-handed moderation was created as a result of the mods' actions.

I think you should be up to date by now. :)

Just to bring it a little more up-to-date, according to PenguinTrax in the thread Possible Thread: What to Do if You're Released from Recruitment:

Carnation did not move LL's thread. Another SuperMod moved it due to name-calling and the ugliness that had come up in the responses. The issue is being discussed at length in the Mod's Corner right now as it is a case of a SM going overboard.

That's pretty damn crappy of the Supermod who moved it to not man (or woman) up to in the public forums. Instead, they allowed Candy to get lampooned. Real nice.

moe.ron 08-13-2008 09:51 AM

Why so serious?

DeltAlum 08-13-2008 09:52 AM

Well, this thread has probably generated more reported posts than any in the history of GreekChat.

It probably was a mistake to unlock it.

Let's see if you all can be kinder to one another.

Best of luck to all of you.

Really, people? Are we twelve?

Isn't PenguinTrax the only female SuperMod? So I think it is manning up that's called for.

But yeah, I agree.

No, I don't think it was a mistake. Keeping it locked would have just created more heat.

In A Recruitment Thread

why it wasn't posted here to directly respond to all this discussion IDK

33girl 08-13-2008 10:12 AM

Oh, oh, OK.

I think I know what happened here but I'll leave PT clear it up when she gets a chance.

pbear19 08-13-2008 10:14 AM

It would be a real shame to lock this thread, especially to lock it before there is any resolution of the initial issue with LL's thread.

This thread will die down, the situation will blow over eventually, as do all things internet related. But how it is handled now will determine how much of a stink it causes in the future. This is fodder for a lot of hypersensitivity towards mods on the part of the membership, as well as for potential sock puppets, pushing the boundaries, and general backlash. The best way to prevent all of that silliness in the future is to handle the situation maturely today, and locking the thread only ensures that all the above will happen with alacrity.

(Note that I have no intention of participating in the aforementioned 'silliness', it's merely what I predict to be a likely outcome from an observer's standpoint.)

NinjaPoodle is the other female Super Mod.

...waiting for PT to clear things up, because come on. Do you really think a Super Mod did it? I sure don't.

Based from my experience, the 4 Super Mods (SAEAlumnus, James, PenguinTrax, and NinjaPoodle) have been really good about PM-ing me if something as little as editing one of my posts has been done. I really don't think it was any of the 4 SMs that moved LL's thread. I really wish LL would come back and post, because I miss her posting.

Really. They actually said on the NPR interview that people don't tend to have lead pipes lying around their houses anymore.

Part of the fun of "Clue" is that old British manor atmosphere. The update sounds more like "Matlock" or "Murder She Wrote."

My BF and I have CLUE DVD and I kick ass at the regular cases. He's better at the General Cases -- those I totally suck at.

There is a Clue DVD? I'm gonna have to invest in that game.

I have Clue 50 Mysteries, or something like that. Totally NOT fun!

The edition (not sure if there's more than 1) we have has 10 regular cases. We try not to play too much so that we can forget who the culprit was. The general cases (selecting random cards from each pile) are unlimited.

Interesting.

Everytime a new member disagrees with an old member on this message board, they are accused of being a troll or sock puppet?

It's like that, huh?

(b) try and dig up dirt about the Greek system, and find how often we beat our NMs and make them stand naked on the street corner
(c) try and figure out how XYZ picks their new members

All you can do is continue to post. If your post is good/logical/non-whiney, people may not agree with it, but they'll respect it. Continue doing that and you'll stopped being called such very hurtful names. :D

Disagreeing with one of the older members might make you appear like fitting into a-d, especially since the majority of them kinda know what they're doing. If you really disagree, stick to your guns, DON'T pull out a shallow, silly attack and be willing to admit you might be wrong. Many of them are.

P.S. Note my really tiny number of posts. I'm in the same boat as you, bud.

^^^very well said and posted. i will add only one other point. do not play with fonts, sizes, colors et al. just does not help to make you make a point or to look serious.
