I'm a Greekchat veteran...my user name used to be Alumnus who cares. Now I'm still an alumnus who still cares, but I decided to change my name. Why, you ask? A few reasons:

1. "Alumnus who cares" was getting to be too long and clumsy for a user name. I got tired of typing it, and I know it was kind of awkward for people who would reference my posts. Chief is much easier to deal with.

2. I recently moved to a new department at the firm I work for, and my new supervisor calls me Chief. (He also calls me Big Guy. I wonder if he even knows my real name.)

3. I guess it's a show of support for the University of Illinois' mascot, Chief Illiniwek. Once again, he is under fire from groups who find him offensive. These groups may have legitimate reasons for wanting to change the team's name and get rid of the mascot. But going to Fighting Illini football games wouldn't be the same for me (and thousands of other alumni) if they go through with this. Hopefully the Chief will continue to live on.

It is the end of one of our chants,(A-L-P-H-A C-H-I Oh My O-M-E-G-A Alpha Chi!) and I thought it was cute.

My absolute favorite "going out" outfit is a pair of jeans Santa bought me from the Gap last year-they have red roses beaded up the sides. I know that embellished jeans were "last year", but I have never been one to bow to trendiness (it took me two seasons to adapt to flare jeans and 3/4 sleeves haha). I have vowed to stay a size 4 forever so I can wear these jeans till I die. They just make me feel so damned sexy! In the winter I wear them with a long sleeved black v-neck and black boots, and in the summer with a black tank and slides. have a red beaded choker that goes splendidly as well. My sororsis Libby started calling them my "crazy legs" because no one else had anything like them and they are just crazy like me. The Sigma is for Sigma Sigma Sigma, of which I am an eternally proud member.

Apologies for any misstatements on my part. The mascot for my sorority has no secret meaning attached - it's a teddy bear. It's just cute. That's it. but sometimes we joke about more. I didn't realize that your situation was more serious and I apologize. The Beta guys I know are very serious about the ritual stuff (non-members aren't even allowed down the HALLWAY that leads to the chapter room, even though the door's locked and there's nothing on the hallway walls), so I figured anything they let me know was common knowledge.

alright..my name is also my AOL screen name which i've had since early HS days...Rxy=Roxy and Chrldr=Cheerleader...so I guess that makes me the Roxy Cheerleader! I too have an obsession with the Roxy line--in fact, that's how I got that name. But...instead of Roxy, I opted for Teeny Wahine (the little girls' line) because it seemed like all the girls in the AOL Hawaii chat rooms had Roxy in their names. ARGH. I started this thread a year or so ago. I dont know where my initial post went, but since we have a buch of new GC'ers, I thought I'd bring it up for us to get aquainted with everyone.

So, I'll start again (for some reason I cant get my initial post to come up)

lifesaver - because when I logged on to GC I was working as a lifeguard at a theme park, and I really dig the outside, water swimming, tubeing, etc.

I wonder how many GCers think that my screenname has something to do with pepperment / spearment candy. lol
