OMG Toca loved me!! He kept trying to drink my drink (Red Bull & vodka) Mraz was cracking up. I was like "Toca, I see you eyeing my drink!" It was pretty funny.

I had never drank Red Bull & vodka before that night..after that night Josh made me promise to never drink it again--he said I was talking 90 miles an hour! He said one time when I was telling him something I had to tell him 3 times because he couldn't understand me I was talking so fast--yet I was drunk so it wasn't working out for me.

RioLambdaAlum 12-25-2003 11:48 PM

Let's see to name a few off the top of my head.....
Ray Combs, the guy thats dead that did family fued
Adrian (forget the last name) the guy Robin Williams played in Good Morning Vietnam
Al Snow, wrestler, my brother graduated with one of his step daughters and i know both of them
I forget his name, but the guy that was on China Beach and now you see him on ER, he is that chubby guy

I know there is a few more I have met, but can't think of them.....only cause my dad is asleep and I can't ask him who all he knows that he has introduced me to.

btw don't think i am trying to show off for knowing all these people, cause i didn't create this thread.

I met him! I'm a HUGE fan, and went up to see him in NYC in a reading/rock concert type thing for a new musical called "The Nitpicker" in early December - he only sang one song at the very end, after it was advertised as him "starring" in it... After the show, I went up to him and asked if he would take a picture with me - he said no, there were too many people there. Then I asked if he would sign an autograph, and he told me to "hold on a second" Then he talked to his friends for like fifteen minutes, seemingly with no intention of signing a freaking autograph for me, and I got sick of waiting for him and left. He was really rude about the whole thing, with a "why are you bothering me?" attitude.

So tragically, he's a big jerk. Hot as hell, and mega-talented to boot, but a major jerk in person.

And I was so excited about my Edward story, that I forgot to mention who else I've met... Alan Rickman (really dry and sarcastic and funny, just as you want the Brits to be) and Dame Judy Dench (she's tiny, she's just this little small woman with amazing presence...) and Wilson Cruz (Rickie from My So-Called Life, he was the sweetest), and Adrian Lester (really nice and smart and hot).

I only saw famous people but never approached them. This one time I was at a Virgin Records store up in LA and saw Winona Ryder shopping for DVD's. One of my friends who was with me at the time was sooooooooo in love with her. His friend and I decided to browser for movies right across from her and never talked to her once. But he and I did chat about different movies that we were browsing.

I know one friend who actually met The Rock at a restaurant on my friend's bday. My friend got his autograph and he was so excited because he's a big fan of The Rock.

ladyj39 01-06-2004 03:47 AM

He's not famous as in "HUGE CELEBRITY",

...but I met Dwight Phillips in Las Vegas last month. He's an Olympic athlete! He was a real sweetheart and definitely not like the other sleazy guys that tried to get on my friend and I. We talked for hours and at first, I wasn't sure if he was telling the truth, so I Googled him when I got home and it was him! :) He is the current Long Jump World Champion.

He's the one on the right:

Last Saturday, Hawaii's very own Jack Johnson played to a sellout crowd in a homecoming concert to benefit environmental education. Me and the best friend were lucky enough to get all access tags because one of our bar regulars from work played in one of the opening bands.

Jealous that he's already married because I'd love to have a guy with that kind of voice sing me to sleep...but Kim's such an awesome and sweet lady. :)

Ooooh, I love Jack Johnson, I saw him at Bonnaroo...didn't meet him though. Love him.

Dave Matthews. He was wasted. A girl from my house played pool with him all night and then gave him a ride back to the hotel.

Oh yea, and Dustin Diamond (Screetch from Saved by the Bell.) He was still kind of nerdy, but really nice.

Let's see...

I've met: (figure skaters) Brian Boitano, Kristi Yamaguchi, Michelle Kwan, Nicole Bobek, Sasha Cohen, Scott Hamilton, Ryan Bradley, Ann Patrice McDonough *she's really really sweet girl!*, and Sharon Carz *did the stunt skating in The Cutting Edge*.

(Musicians): Garth Brooks, Chris LeDoux, Reba, LeAnn Rimes, Mushroomhead, Slipknot, Linkin Park, Otep, Union Underground, Rob Zombie! :)

Guess it works to work in radio and at the freak store Hot Topic! :D I'm hoping Metallica comes by in March during their tour through Denver.

krystle 01-11-2004 12:36 PM

Lets see:

Last March, I went to the Palladium in Worchester with my friend Cat to go see The*Ataris & The Julianna Theory. During the concert I went to go buy my obligatory tee-shirts, and Brent from TJT was right next to me. Some guy was like "oh go give him a hug, it's his birthday." But that guy was handing out Peta packets with dead chickens on them so I got out of there wuick. At then, at the end of the show...We went to the back and hung out by The*Ataris tourbus. Stalkerish, I know. But we ended up meeting Mike, the guitarist & we talked to Kid, the drummer for about 5 minutes. We wanted to meet the lead, Kris Roe...but it was his 3 year anniversary with his wife so he got out of there quick...

2 summers ago I met two, kinda not famous baseball players...But they will be soon! They lived with my friend when they were playing in the Cape Cod Baseball League (think "Summer Catch", cute baseball boys come to the cape for a summer and infest the cape). Michael Bourne...he played at Houston in College, played the YD summer team in 02, and was drafted to Philadelphia. And then there was Matt Farnum, who played for Texas A&M in college, played the YD team in summer 02, and got drafted to texas.

And then two GORGEOUS members from the Chatham team came into Pirates Cove this summer, and the two other boys my friend was hosting...but I forget their names.

One more...lol...Mike & Coral from the Real World: Back to New York came to BSC to give a speech and they were doing autographs afterwards. So I met them. And my friend Dolan ended up following them to Boston to go to the bar they were going to. She played pool with them (plus CT from RW:Paris), and drank..and Mike checked her out.

Okay..this post is way longer than I meant it to be. :p

I would give my right arm to meet Pearl Jam. I am a HUGE fan. I've heard that Eddie is one of the nicest celebs; he'll always sit and chat with his fans. You are so lucky!!!!

Well I was like, 12...he was in his first big movie, can't remember hte name....
Anyway, I was with my parents in 1st class flying from Chicago to L.A....he was like, bopping all over the cabin. The kid could NOT sit still. After about 45 minutes the stewardess told him he had to take a seat, so he sat in the empty one next to me!! I knew who he was but acted dumb. He was really friendly but kind of hyper, like most 12 year olds are. :) Just said that he was going to L.A. for "a summer job"...I'm like, come on kid, you're 12. Anyway- hot much else to say. He asked my parents where we were staying and his manager was all like, "I could take the kids to McDonalds or something..." but my parents thought they were freaks and wouldn't let me go :( I got back at them by disappearing for a few hours once we got to Hollywood, but that's a whole other story ;)

FiReKraCkEr 01-13-2004 02:18 AM

I also met Brad Renfro at a party in Knoxville...dude was he messed up. I don't think he woulda known his elbo from his knee. But he was still HOT!!

My friend Derrik had a Halloween party a couple years ago and I went with one of my sisters (who is from K-town) and there he was. He was pretty quiet and kept to himself...then he got trashed and he was party boy!

Taualumna 01-13-2004 02:43 AM

I've met several famous people, including:

Ann M. Martin, writer of my favourite childhood series, "The Baby-Sitters' Club" when I was 10 years old. I had the Superspecial #4 autographed by her (it's the one where they were stranded on an island)

Several well known theatre actors, including Colm Wilkinson (after seeing Les Miz in Toronto back in 1998) and Ma-Anne Dionisio (after seeing West Side Story at the Stratford Festival in '99. Ma-Anne played Kim in the Toronto production of Miss Saigon)

I went to high school with a girl whose mother was on a national morning news program here in Canada. I've met the girl's mom a few times when she came in for career day and stuff like that.

In Grade 9, my entire class went to Ottawa and we met then Prime Minister, Jean Chretien.

As for my connections to famous people: A girl I went to high school with claims that the person who baby-sat her when she was a kid dated Brendan Fraser. I also know tons of guys who went to the same school Brendan Fraser did, some who may have been there while he was still a student.

The_Nash 01-13-2004 04:55 AM

let see

Laurence Fishburn (Morpheus)
Danny Glover
One of the girls on the show 24 (Austrailian actress but I can't rememember her name)
Brett Lehr (the kid in the movie identity, hes my friends little brother)
Jerry Seinfelds mom (she might as well be famous)
Pauly Shore
Vince Vaughn
Tommy Lasorda

I met Bonnie Blair, the speed skater.
That's really about it, I think.

hottytoddy 02-04-2004 05:27 AM

Anyone on here met Johnny Depp? I am obsessed.

Sister Havana 02-04-2004 04:56 PM

Okay, let's see....

Several years ago, the Chicago Sun-Times had all these summer events, and one of them was having a picnic lunch with several of the writers. I went to that and met Judy Markey (now does Kathy and Judy on WGN and has written a few books), Richard Roeper (of Ebert and Roeper) and Jay Mariotti (on Around the Horn).

Alan Henderson, who now plays for the Atlanta Hawks, was in an honors seminar with me our freshman year at IU. It was a really small class so I did talk to him sometimes.

I was coming out of a final exam freshman year and bumped into (almost literally!) Calbert Cheaney, who now plays for the Golden State Warriors.

I used to see Jared Jeffries (now with the Wizards) around the union at IU.

I didn't talk to him or anything, but John Mellencamp once sat a row in front and about seven seats over from me at an IU basketball game.

In high school, I used to help out in the athletes' after-school tutoring room twice a week. One of the guys who came in there every so often was Robert Farmer, formerly of the New York Giants.

I don't know if anyone here watched High School Reunion last season, but Holly ("The Shy Girl") was in my Hebrew School class many, many years ago.

Gary Cherone (formerly of Extreme and Van Halen) called to place an ad in the paper I worked at. He hit on me indirectly. *heh*

Brushes with Celebrities

Living where I do in Iowa...especially during caucus season, we get all the candidates and celebrities stumping for them in our town. I LOVE IT. Amongst the celebrities this year, I got to shake hands with Jeannie Garfalo, Joan Jett, Carole King, and Anni Defranco. I met all the candidates upclose and personal...shaking hands and chatting. Did I say I love Iowa in caucus season?

I went to HS in So Cal (Redlands) with Harry Blackstone III (son of Harry Blackstone Jr, magician). What a babe! I thought I was going to melt in his arms during a slow dance at the Drama Club party....maybe I did ;) Highlight of my Jr year in HS :) :) :) (his dad was pretty nice guy too...although very tall!)

My uncle was, in years past, in tight with Chicago Cubs players because he kept his *cough* yacht in the same harbor as
many of them. Got to meet quite a few of them that were in Billie Williams time. Another uncle was in tight with the Bears of the Jim McMahan era. Met a few at a party...big guys with "roamin" hands..ugh.

My boss (at the time) lived next door to John Mellencamp (when he had his residence on Hwy 46 just east of Bloomington, IN). Her property was adjacent to his and they shared a pond. She said he was the worst neighbor and "I wouldn't walk across the street to spit on him if he was on fire". Foul mouthed and thought he was always right (in property dispute). Eventually she sold out to him (for a premium) and he converted her place to a recording studio.

I was a guest on the Oprah Winfrey show in Nov 1996. Flew out, stayed in OmniSuites :). She was definitely the boss. All business, did not interact with her audience during breaks like you would have expected. I was a big fan before then, don't even watch her now.

This is disappointing. I was surprised to find the same thing out with Carson Daly when he hosted TRL. He didn't even look at the people in the audience...as soon as there was a break he walked right off to the side where no one could see him.

Jay Leno was kina the same way..only he came out before the show was being filmed and interacted with the audience and even took a few pictures.

I met Mike Tyson in San Antonio one time when I was getting my car out of valet (or waiting for it to come out, whatever). I walked towards the guy taking the ticket and he was sitting there on a bench. I did a double take and he started laughing because I kinda jumped, startled. I walked up to him and introduced myself and he said, "I'm Mike" and I was like, Yea I know!!!

SigKapBling 02-05-2004 01:31 PM

i also met mike tyson!! i was leaving las vegas, before i moved here, and we were in the aiport, and my mom was like OH MY GOD.. so we went over there and took our pictures with him and got his autograph, it was pretty cool. and when i was growing up in new york, my best friends uncle was the coach for our community college's baseball team, and he had known mark lemke, so mark lemke always hung out around us, because of uncle joey. never really realized who he was until i got a little bit older...
my dad has met roy jones jr, and george foreman at one of the boxing matches he went to. .. good times

Famous people

I was a extra in the movie BIG FISH. Ewan McGregor and Steve Buscemi were in the scene I was in. I was in a close-up shot with Steve & five other girls and Tim Burton directed us on what to do. It was a lot of fun. I did not realize how short these actors really were or how strange Tim Burton really is.

That is cool. I always thought Tim Burton was strange. If you think of all of his movies and his use of color and all (Edward Scissorhands, Night before Halloween) I always thought he's be a little wierd. But that is soo cook that you got to see him in action. He's a brilliant director.

Re: Re: Brushes with Celebrities

I used to work at a gourmet grocery store in West Hollywood and encountered a lot of famous people. Most of them are really cool if you don't act like you know them and you just treat them normally... let's see:

Illeana Douglas (the weird psychic chick in Stir of Echoes)
Jodie Foster
LL Cool J
James Woods
Henry Winkler
Jenny McCarthy (SOOO NICE!! She was such a sweetie and is so much prettier without makeup on!)
Mike Myers
Ben Stien
Andrew Dice Clay
Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston (Brad has a lot of acne scars on his face... still got a hot smile though)
Renee Zellweger (when she was kind of grossly skinny- I got to watch her dog outside the store for her while she shopped!)

I can't remember any others right now, but it was kind of fun working there and seeing these people do normal, everyday things...
