Whew! When I saw the title of the thread my heart skipped a beat because it was going to say something worse. She will definitely be im my prayers as someone I truly respect.

Hi GC,

About this time yesterday, I learned that my mother was involved in a serious car accident. The car was total-ed . . . Thankfully, by the grace of God everything has turned out to be well, for the most part. But she's still in the hospital.:(

So today, I humbly come to this e-family and ask that you all please pray for my mom. Anyone who has read any of my past posts can easily see that my mom and I are joined at the hip and means the world to me. I just pray that nothing too long-term comes from this.

Thank you all for the prayers. . .

My mom is home now . . .but she's still in pain though. I really wish I could be there right now but Thanksgiving break isn't till 2 weeks. So I'm just trying to finish this work till I get there. I guess in time, all things will work out. I just won't ever forget what she told me . . . about how I should consider myself lucky becasue "I almost died . . . and you almost lost ur mom" (Mom's words) :( :( :( how do you get over that? I guess I really hae something to be thankfull gor this year . . .

Little OOhsofly has severe asthma...I've had a hard time regulating it for the past few weeks...the doctor isn't helping much....she was up earlier and thats why I'm up now...please pray for me baby's health and my strength to endure....thanks....

I know my mother is an angel now. I know that He had to call her home. But I miss her--her voice, her smile, her cooking, her friendship, her hugs. I'm crying right now. I've got no place to put my pain and heartache. So I humbly ask you all to keep me in prayer that my broken heart will heal, and I can move on with my life--with Mama watching from above. I first send my condolences...I completely understand what you are going through with the loss of your mother. My mother passed 7/2/05 of Multiple Myeloma Cancer. I was 7 months pregnant and holding her hand as she left this place. I felt as though I could never be the same or happy. But I prayed that He take my pain and grief from me...knowing that my mother would have never wanted me to be tortured by her passing. And one day without warning...I felt that grief lift. This is not say that i don't have my bad days...I have times where i can't seem to catch my breath and I can't stop myself from crying and feeling alone ( I was always just her and I throughout my life). But I know that she is freed from the suffering and pain. And means more to me than anything else.

I just found out that my cousin who was in graduate school at NC Central University in Durham, NC was found dead on campus today...so far all we know is that there were reports of shots being fired on campus at 8am and her body was found by a maintenance crew outside at the bottom of some stairs at 10am...Denita was only 25, newly engaged, and a beautiful person inside and out...my family is in complete shock and disbelief..she's the oldest of 3 siblings who are very close in a very close knit family..I don't even know how to tell my daughter...please pray for my family in this dark hour...

Denita interned for a local paper so there is an article on www.Charlotte.com about this already...hopefully someone will be held accountable for this senseless loss...

My family laid to rest my cousin, Denita Monique Smith yesterday...I want to thank everyone who offered their prayers and condolences during this very difficult time...for those of you who are not in the NC area, a woman has been charged with her death, so hopefully my family will have some type of closure soon...I didn't even mention this in my first post, but Denita was a newly initiated member of Alpha Kappa Alpha...she crossed on December 3, 2006...AKA was something she really wanted (in spite of my ribbing) and I'm thankful she got it..there were at least a couple thousand people at her service and person after person spoke of her kindness and big smile...her list of acomplishments academically and in the community are too numerous to mention...she was an all around good person who touched alot of lives and who will be greatly missed...

Oohsoflydelta - Please know that so many people are praying for you and your family right now. I hope that you find comfort in that fact. I can only imagine how much more difficult this is because of the nature of the crime. However, keep the scripture in mind "Lean not into thy own understanding." My prayer is that you will find peace in He whom provides comfort.

Alpha Kappa Alpha's 26th National President, Soror Linda Marie White , underwent successful heart and kidney transplant surgery and is resting in the Cardiac ICU at the University of Chicago-Bernard Mitchell Hospital, 5841 South Maryland Avenue, Chicago, IL 60637. She will be in ICU for several days and unavailable for calls and visits. Your prayers are needed for her continued recovery.

Although my prayer request is not dealing with the loss of a loved one, I have an interview with a major corporation's legal department as a senior attorney. I REALLY want this position and am claiming it as my own. I just ask for your prayers that the Lord see fit to bless me with this opportunity. Of course, if it is not His will, I know He has a greater blessing coming my way.
