I did that in Atlanta. Just so cool. I love the Epsilon Pi Ceremony. Actually, I just love our Ritual. Friday night will be awesome.

<dashes off to check Imail>

I'll be in touch.. after I do that planner page!

Pastel Dress!

I finally found a pastel dress today for the initiation ceremony...

Gap...$20 on the clearance rack!! :D

AGDee 05-31-2008 05:57 PM

I got a new white dress and I don't know if I like it but I've been looking around and I'm not finding anything better so I might be stuck with it. When I tried it on, my daughter said "That looks like a Greek Goddess dress". I said "Well that's appropriate then, isn't it?"

I have bought all the shoes and have been wearing them so they will be broken in. I'm determined not to get blisters this time! I can't believe how soon it will be here!

I've also had to take so much time off work for other things that I've cancelled my extra day at the end of the trip, so I'm flying home early in the 23rd. Oh well, I'll maximize my time on the 17th and 18th. I have until 3 pm available Wednesday...

It is 97 degrees in San Antonio today.

DoctorD 05-31-2008 07:37 PM

who all is doing the 5K at convention?

I am! Although I'd really like to try to run some of it, rather than walk. I've been talked into doing a duathlon in August... talk about something I never dreamed I would be doing!

I still need to try on my white dress. Maybe I'll remember tonight. If it is falling off me, I will be shopping soon. It it will do, it will do . I really don't have the $ to be buying anything else right now... my kids are off to camp in the morning and my wallet is rather empty from that.

SassyPantsAGD 05-31-2008 09:26 PM

I'm doing the Philanthropy walk...

and I will be walking...I only run when being chased :D

AGDee 05-31-2008 11:37 PM

I'm signed up for the Philanthropy walk and am concerned because my feet are usually blistered and crippled by Saturday..lol. Hopefully that won't be the case this time. I will be walking, not running. I'm allergic to running :)

AGDLynn 06-01-2008 01:04 PM

Having KY guests this weekend. Spent 3.5 hours walking around the Atl. Botanical garden (okay..a little bit of sit down time near the end for something to drink and chips) and then about 1.5 hours at IKEA and my feet were killing me.

Dee, I'm like you, I go to on trips and spent a lot of time on damaged/hurting tootsies.

I'm not signed up for the Walk because I don't know what kind of conditions my feet will be in by then. :p

Oh, gee... so much to do between now and then! [Said while frantically putting a syllabus together for the class I start teaching tomorrow!]

nancyagd86 06-03-2008 02:12 PM

Whew...

The time before Convention ALWAYS flies by. You'd think that one of these years I'd figure it out?!
Today's the last full day for my boys, then half days for the rest of the week! YIPPEE! I'm tired of packing lunches!
How much weight can I lose in 2 weeks?!!!!!!

They're called Spanx and they're great! LOL

SassyPantsAGD 06-09-2008 01:14 PM

What is everyone wearing to Feast of Roses?

I'm such a convention newbie... :o:D

DoctorD 06-09-2008 11:44 PM

I just sent my convention schedule to my blackberry.

Geez, I'm such a techno-geek.

As far as Feast of Roses, my dress is undecided [although I need to take a potential dress to the cleaners in the AM - thanks for the reminder!]. I'm going shopping one more time on Thursday [this time in ATL] looking for an initiation dress. If something pretty just happens to catch my eye for Feast of Roses, that will be purchased, too. What budget?

Dress I have at the moment is a nice Sunday dress that could also double as a cocktail type dress, or so I tell myself. Last Feast of Roses the dress seemed to be anywhere from really nice Sunday dress to formal gowns.

AGDee 06-10-2008 10:39 AM

I have a very standard "little black dress" for Feast of Roses, to be dressed up with jewels.

I'm going with the Initiation dress that I hate because I haven't found anything better. Oh well, maybe next time?

One week and counting...

I found my initiation dress at Gap on the clearance rack for $20...they had several colored pastels. Mine is a very fair pink....

I think I might head to Ross today...I always seem to find dresses for my curves there...for CHEAP! On second thought I have a 3/4 sleeve black dress that would probably be appropriate...can't hurt to look though :D

Adding two more commitments to my Convention planner sheets... this is going to be my busiest Convention ever!

AGDLynn 06-11-2008 09:31 PM

Doesn't have a planner, lol.;)

DoctorD 06-11-2008 11:06 PM

one more last ditch shopping effort tomorrow for convention clothes, including the ever illusive white dress!

It's almost time! One week from now, we'll be getting ready to go to Knibbe Ranch!

AGDLynn 06-14-2008 10:45 PM

Tomorrow, I need to start packing to see what I can/can't fit into my suitcase so that it doesn't way 2 tons.;)

DoctorD 06-14-2008 10:57 PM

I'm still not convinced I've finished shopping. And I can't even imagine beginning to pack!

Although, I'll be packed by Monday night. I realized today that I have to leave home by 9 AM Tuesday morning.

AGDee 06-15-2008 12:11 AM

I am packing tomorrow. Did you get the planning sheet for outfits? It helps a lot.

ETA: I forwarded it to you.

DoctorD 06-15-2008 12:26 AM

I got it from Nancy and from you... and I'm thinking I still have shopping to do. Wondering when...and where...

AGDee 06-15-2008 04:26 PM

Laundry is happening. All travel items (including candy!) are purchased. See me at Ask the Experts in the Welcome Center on Friday before lunch to get candy :) (or to ask Risk Management questions, which is why I'll really be there) Or, come to one of my roundtables! Packing will commence when laundry is done!

Laundry is happening for me only because the kids are home from camp and they brought laundry with them!

Looks like one more shopping expedition is in order tomorrow evening. And the rate I'm going, the manicure/pedicure may need to wait until Wednesday morning in San Antonio! [Although I'm hoping I can squeeze it in tomorrow before I teach and deliver the kiddos to their dad]

Looking forward to seeing happy squirrels in San Antonio!

AGDee 06-15-2008 09:54 PM

I may get a pedi Wednesday too, unless I find time tomorrow or Tuesday morning. I realized that I don't have to leave for the airport until 11.

I just have to pack jewelry and toiletries. I used to have all these big chunky bead necklaces and big chunky colored earrings in just about every color of the rainbow in the late 80's/early 90's. Then, my girlie played with them when she was into her "dress up" phase at 3 and 4, and they all got destroyed. Now, they are back in and I need some red. So, I think a trip to Target is in order. My Alpha Gam jewelry is easy to pack because I keep it altogether anyway. Since I mainly where it when I'm travelling, life is easier that way. I did realize that my Alpha Gam watch battery is dead :(. I might be able to drop it off to have the battery changed before the pedi on Tuesday morning... yep, that should work! It's my favorite watch, all Alpha Gam Italian charms with a watch face.. very fun.

SassyPantsAGD 06-16-2008 11:18 AM

I have the start of a packed bag...some shoes and outfits that I'm saving out to ensure no accidental food spilages occur during my short work week....

Maybe I will have some time during my day on Wednesday for a pedi...I'm getting my eyebrows waxed today...

So much to do and so little time it seems...I hope I have it all together!! Old Navy has a sale on some fun summer clothes...I just might have to stop by and check it out...I guess I will need to completely finish packing tonight to make sure I don't need anything else last minute...

I also have to give my poochie a bath tonight...my boyfriend said he didn't want to take care of a stinky yorkie while I was gone :D

AGDLynn 06-16-2008 07:59 PM

Glad I have 1 more night because UGA better win tonight while I'm watching!

AGDee 06-16-2008 08:55 PM

24 hours from right about now, DoctorD and I will be having dinner in San Antonio!!! I can't believe it's finally here :) I still have things to do, but they are last minute things...

DoctorD 06-16-2008 09:47 PM

I just got home from last minute shopping and manicure/pedicure. STILL have laundry to do, and am ready to do packing.

Bought 2 possible dresses [with the help of my children] for Feast of Roses and some shoes that don't fit, but that will work for the walk to dinner :)... After that, I may be carrying them. Am making the decision on which dress to take in a little while and the other will be saved until next convention!

Wonder what time I'll make it to bed tonight??? :)

AGDee 06-16-2008 10:00 PM

In the morning, I have to clean the bathroom (maybe tonight), finish packing my carry on and hygiene stuff, see if I can get a new battery for one of my watches, get a pedi, buy contact solution and bug spray (per the people in the Conventions 2008 thread who have been to Knibbe Ranch who said DON'T forget bug spray there), pack up the dog's stuff, drop her off at my ex'es. I can get all that done by 11 am, right?

ETA: almost forgot "Take out the garbage".. that would be a tragic thing to forget since I'll turn the A/C off when I leave!

Oh crud... Garbage! I have to do that, too, in the morning. Ugh!

Laundry... awaits... bedtime will be sometime tomorrow, I'm afraid!

DoctorD 06-17-2008 12:23 AM

One bag is packed! Waiting on laundry, and paying bills.... Might make it to bed by 1! And then again...

nancyagd86 06-17-2008 06:38 AM

bone pumps

I'd offer you the pair in my closet from a wedding that Dr D and I were in many years ago (see, Lee, I don't wear them often!), but they're size 5 1/2. If they'd fit, let me know. I'm sure they'll cram in my suitcase.

Stressed? Y'all are funny. I still have to alter the couple of dresses today and get suitcase down from the attic. Ugh. Must leave home at 5a tomorrow. Fortunately I will leave children with DH.

bunk beds: no bunkie boards, just decent-enough-but-flexible-mattress over screwed-in slats is the key. One corner at a time, bend back corner, put fitted mattress pad on and have child underneath to pull through what you shove down. Repeat for fitted sheet. They never leave the top sheet tucked in, so why bother. Fold it under or cut it off! They're old enough to 'grab this & pull' to make their beds AND retain your sanity & religion!!! Another hint-cheap comforters that you can throw over the whole mess and make it look like you tried.

Off to fix breakfast & pack lunch for my middleschooler who has Pre-IB Prep summer academy this week then to see what else I can do to procrastinate sewing.

See y'all tomorrow!

Off to dream about finding the perfect pair of bone-colored-shoes, somewhere, somehow...

I'm so proud of you for using the word "y'all!"

The shoes I bought last night for Feast of Roses don't fit - I wear a 10N, and they are a 10M - Just don't look too close at my feet!

Good luck finding shoes! I even googled Nordstrom last night to see if there was one in San Antonio [there is, but not near where we are staying], since that is the only place I ever have luck buying shoes.

[And Nancy, I didn't remember the shoes being bone, but that would only make sense given what the bridesmaid dress looked like - those shoes are long gone, although I did pop in on Hannah at work last week in Athens. ]

AGDee 06-17-2008 09:18 AM

I'm off to get batteries replaced in my watches, drop off the dog, and head to the airport! See you all in San Antonio! (or from San Antonio)
