Yea! I watched old episodes of the West Wing while trying to survive the 4,000 milligrams of antibiotics my doctor prescribed!

lovespink88 02-03-2009 01:34 AM

Uh oh.. I think something is starting...I've been sneezing like crazy today and have a stuffy nose.

And I hope I don't get sick from my roommate...she's been throwing up all day today :( I lysol wiped the whole apartment down lol

HotDamnImAPhiMu 02-03-2009 07:29 AM

Make sure you're getting plenty of sleep... skimping on that always seems like the shortest route to Sickville.

And lots of water! And wash your hands more than usual!

Sorry, didn't mean to go all Big Sis on you. But take care of yourself. :) That's what I meant to say.

summer_gphib 02-08-2009 08:40 PM

I'm finally going to go to the doctor tomorrow. This has just gotten out of hand, I've had this stupid post nasal drip cough since THANKSGIVING, and for the third time in less than 3 weeks I've been throwing up with a migraine. Something's gotta give. :o

VandalSquirrel 02-08-2009 08:56 PM

The lymph node in my left armpit has been sore and swollen since Friday (I thought my under wire was jabbing me), so I guess I better go to the doctor since it still hurts and it a knot.

lovespink88 02-08-2009 09:26 PM

Ugh... So I thought I was getting sick last week but then it went away. Well now it's most definitely back. Headache, post nasal drip, sore throat and a little bit of stuffyness. :(

My doctor put me on antibiotics, this is the fourth time in a year this has happened, she's going through all my tests and exams from two years ago since it only happens on the left side, and that's where they found the lump :( I'd much rather have explosive diarrhea than go through this again.

christiangirl 02-09-2009 11:49 PM

I've been fighting this thing for weeks and I'm determined to win. It doesn't matter that my nose has been running and my voice has been cracking for over a week. I'll never give in, I tell you, NEVER!

Still BLUTANG 02-10-2009 04:21 PM

i feel something coming on but i CANNOT succumb. i already had the flu this season, i don't have the energy to get sick again.

LucyKKG 02-10-2009 08:53 PM

I'm not exactly sick but ughhhhhhh cramps! I almost left class today, but I had to turn in a fatty assignment, so I stayed.

AGDee 02-10-2009 10:07 PM

My son was sick last week and this week it's my daughter. My ex-husband is sick too. I'm just waiting for it to hit me. My only hope is that, since I'm the only one who got a flu shot, I'll be spared.

VandalSquirrel 02-15-2009 05:23 AM

I hate that I have two more days of antibiotics and I feel worse than when I started them. The mucinex isn't helping, and I can only sleep for a couple hours at a time.

No one else I know is sick, so I can't blame anyone for this.

I don't know if this is good or bad, but I'M NOT SICK. I just finally read the list of side effects from the new medication that I started awhile ago and, lo and behold, there it is: "runny nose, sore throat, flu symptoms." I don't know whether to be excited that I'm not really sick or pissed that I didn't read that sooner.

ThetaDancer 02-19-2009 09:35 PM

I had to call in sick (which I never do) yesterday and today and I still feel completely awful. Sore throat, fever, dizzy, exhausted...the works. I'm being so whiney about it, too. I just hate being sick.

I had a fever this morning, and chills. I got a couple looks from my classmates because my face was bright red but my teeth were chattering. I felt fine when I left the house at 7:30, I guess the Advil wore off.

I have no adenoids or tonsils, how can i possibly have a sore throat? What is left in there to get sore?

AGDee 02-20-2009 12:22 AM

I'm sick too. My head is so congested it just keeps draining and draining without warning. I ended up just shoving tissue up my nose to keep it from draining so I could sleep. It's so gross. I called in sick the last two days and don't see feeling well enough to go in tomorrow either. This thing is going around. Both my kids had it, my ex-husband had it, several co-workers have been out with it (and even more have come in sick, making more of us sick..one of my big peeves). Yeah, after I fixed someone's computer last week and was waiting for it to reboot, resting my chin on my hand, she says "You'll want to wash your hands after touching my keyboard since I've had this awful cough for days now". Thanks. I *must* stop touching my face when in other people's offices. It had been a good two weeks since my kids exposed me, so I don't think I actually got it from them.

Your actual throat, the tissue lining the esophagus, can be sore, even without tonsils or adenoids, usually from the drainage.

ThetaDancer 02-20-2009 12:29 PM

Wishing both of you ladies well...I hope you start feeling better soon!

AGDee, I really hate when people come to work sick and spread their germs around. I would so much rather they take a day (or two, or three) to rest and start feeling better rather than exposing other people to their germs. Plus, I feel like people who come to work super sick aren't even all that productive anyway.

epchick 02-21-2009 11:05 PM

My 14 yr old cousin has been really sick, and I've been trying to not catch what she has.....but now I feel EXTREMELY queasy and run down. AHHHHHHH. I don't wanna get sick :(

Me too! It's a side effect of us having a combined sick and vacation bank. If you never call in sick, you get more planned vacation time. If you call in sick a lot, you get less vacation time. It's designed to reduce call ins for pre-planned things like dentist appointments. Also, since I work for a health care system, it's a hardship for them when they have call-ins in the patient care field since those people have to be replaced. But, I definitely have co-workers who refuse to "waste" their time off on being sick. They are NOT productive at all and they may as well not be there. I sometimes wish management would send them home.

jojapeach 02-24-2009 06:50 PM

I had to call in, too. Actually, I'm under doctor's orders to rest while recovering from the ridiculous side effects of birth control. (First time taking any pills in 15 years - almost half my life.) Eight days was enough to wreck my systems and require rest and plenty of water. But I'll be back tomorrow at about 75%. Maybe even 80.

I hope everyone else feels better soon. :)

AGDee 02-24-2009 07:38 PM

Apparently I gave my bad head cold to my boss. He's been out all week and his wife said he was down for the count all weekend. I did have two meetings in his small, closed office in the morning before I started feeling sick. Oops. At least he knows I wasn't faking it!

Xidelt 03-10-2009 05:49 PM

This has to be a sinus infection, not allergies! I have a fever and I'm achey. I feel like crap.

LucyKKG 03-10-2009 08:49 PM

I got food poisoning last night. It was freaking awful. No one else got sick, but I'm positive it was food poisoning.

VandalSquirrel 03-10-2009 11:06 PM

I have been to the doctor for a third time in a month. BOOOO sinus infections.

I am not sure if I have food poisoning or a stomach bug!

We had Fiesta Day at school and had a bunch of Mexican food donated for a fundraiser..... the next day 80% of the school was sick.

It two days since then and I am still sick....so I am not sure what I have....

AGDee 03-14-2009 06:07 PM

I have another cold/sinus thingie. Not as bad as the last time, but not fun either.

I spoke too soon, maybe? I'm on antibiotics now though as I think it was a sinus infection. My whole face was swollen and painful in spots from the sinus infection. Yesterday was really bad. Today is still bad enough to be home from work. Tomorrow I should be good to go though. I've used a lot of sick days lately :(

wrigley 03-20-2009 02:17 PM

I thought I had food poisoning this week. At 2am this morning I drove myself to ER because the pain, symptoms(no need to be tmi) were very bad. I was wrong. It turns out I have a severe bladder infection. Here's to meds, painkillers, and cranberry juice.

AOEforme 03-25-2009 11:13 AM

I have been vomiting for the past 30 hours. I was on my way to class yesterday morning and in the lobby of my apartment building, when I got really dizzy all of the sudden. I dashed to the bathroom in the lobby and spent the next 20 minutes with diarrhea and vomiting. Lovely.

I have an exam today and tomorrow and the MCAT on Saturday so this could not have come at a worse time..... I can't keep any food down: how am I supposed to concentrate on Physics?

Went to the doctor again, we're now thinking that I am having reactions to some new allergies, so they did a quick blood test. It would make sense that my body is reacting this way and my lymph nodes are out of control. I'd much rather take some pills and get allergy shots than keep worrying about cancer.

I also get to go to the hospital for a sleep study because I can sleep 3 hours and feel fine, or sleep 10 hours and feel like hell.

SydneyK 04-01-2009 09:06 AM

I have gotten a migraine every day for the past two weeks, with the exception of three days. Seriously.

I've seen a neurologist, and I'm keeping an extremely detailed diary/log to try to identify the trigger(s). The meds relieve the pain and nausea, but they cause weird side-effects that are starting to really get on my nerves.

I don't know how much longer I'll be able to stand this.

Kappamd 04-07-2009 09:20 AM

Woke up this morning and my throat is on FIRE. I can hardly swallow, and my lymph nodes are swollen to the point that you can almost tell just by looking. What the heck, I was FINE yesterday!

VandalSquirrel 04-07-2009 09:57 PM

I spent the night in the hospital's sleep lab/clinic last night. According to the tech I don't get enough REM sleep, noises wake me up, and it takes me forever to fall asleep, and get back to sleep if I wake up.

Hello white noise machine and Ambien?

joliebelle 04-08-2009 09:49 AM

woke up today with a sore throat and major head/chest congestion...hopefully I can get to the doctor today or tomorrow, because I don't have time to be sick...24 days until graduation

Kappamd 04-08-2009 11:02 PM

And now I'm running a fever. The lack of any other symptoms except for my RIDICULOUSLY sore throat means its probably strep. Too bad the campus health center is only good for free Mucinex. Looks like I'll be going to urgent care when I go home on Friday.

Hello white noise machine and Ambien?

I'm taking Ambien CR tonight. I haven't been this excited about sleeping, ever.

DiamondAthena 04-16-2009 10:06 AM

I hate day care, or any area where children converge! I take my son to mothers day out so I can have some time to myslef to get things done or whatever and he gets sick, brings it to me and both of us are stuck at home feeling like crap! So now I have to take care of a sick baby, who doesn't realize he's sick and still wants to play... And try to get my own shit together while hopped up on dayquil and/or tylenol cold:nightime....

I think I have a freaking fever too! UGH!!

Honeykiss1974 04-16-2009 11:14 AM

BUMP...for being home with strep!

SWTXBelle 04-16-2009 02:52 PM

HALF of my throat is noticeably swollen - it's bigger than my thyroid, and hurts. :(

Honeykiss1974 04-17-2009 04:00 PM

OMG my strep is on the way out but I think I'm getting an ear infection. My ear is aching... OMG, now I know why babies fuss and cry....I want to fuss and cry!!!!!!!!!!!!
