Another really popular combo is like a teal and red. Not a fan, I've seen it a lot.

my aunt did brown with pink and gold accents for her fall wedding 13 years ago, it was gorgeous then and would still be pretty now!

hannahgirl 07-18-2010 05:50 PM

Just had a friend do bright pink and orange. It was very pretty!

KSUViolet06 07-18-2010 07:50 PM

Also popular last year, damask and ANYTHING lol:

Today I learned what damask is.

^^^Ha. The more you know.

Two observations: Teal and red makes me think of Kmart. Black and gold is gorgeous, especially for a Theta's wedding!

Last popular color combo for the evening:

teal and brown.

^^ What bugs me about a lot of the tourquise themes is that they're really going for a Tiffany theme in many cases. And that's just tacky unless the stuff at the wedding and rehearsal really is from Tiffany. And in most cases it isn't - in fact it's often at budget weddings, which just makes the bride look, well, sad.

These both sound visually stunning.

I was thinking the same thing but also for an Alpha's wedding (APhiA). Though the yellow would need to be more of a old gold.

Ditto

nikki1920 07-19-2010 03:47 PM

We're doing Brown and Blue for our wedding, and I wasn't even thinking of Tiffany's. *shrug* To each her own. I picked those colors because I dont like "girly" colors, I love Carolina Blue and his favorite team is the Cleveland Browns. Blue and Brown, done!! lol.

KSUViolet06 07-19-2010 04:42 PM

I really don't mean to be offensive, just talking about popular colors. You're allowed to like whatever you want. lol.

Yeah, the aqua and red is super popular (as in I know like 5 people planning weddings in that color scheme) and I just don't like it. It's doing too much for my eyes to handle. lol.

Munchkin03 07-19-2010 05:01 PM

I just got an invite to the wedding of two good friends. The theme appears to be black, white, and gold. The last wedding I went to (May 2009) was black, hot pink, and silver.

Soooo excited! I love these two people so much and am so excited for them! I almost teared up when I got the invitation.

Tiffany blue is trademarked, and all of the people that have a "Tiffany" themed wedding never have the real color.

I think Peppy was talking about the people who do a "Tiffany" theme to their wedding and (for example ) have the Tiffany boxes stacked around. Such as: A, and B.
I love brown and blue together, too though.

I like black and white for some reason. I'm boring. lol.

One of my guy friends and his wife did a jewel toned blue kind of thing that I thought was pretty.

I believe they are French-style macarons. I, however, want Snackwells at my wedding. :)

I really like the navy and pink.

I love how the people in wedding "A" say "Tiffany's and Co." instead of "Tiffany and Co." So much copyright infringement, so little time...

Interesting and pretty take on purple and red:

ADqtPiMel 07-20-2010 08:26 PM

I love the teal and red, though I hate on Tiffany themes as a general principle.

honeychile 07-21-2010 02:04 AM

KSUViolets, I have been told to correct you ;) - NEVER "navy"! It's marine blue (almost the shade of your jewel toned blue), azure/pale blue, and pink. Ladies, this is what you get when you ask Beloved if he had some favorite color he's like to work into things! I was thinking all pale blue & white or even an English all white wedding, since he won't wear a kilt. And both of our tartans are predominately blue & green, with a smidge of red in them.

And did I see pink and grey? My nursery was pink and grey, and while I don't remember it, I have only heard raves about it later.

I just did navy and fuchsia! I loved the combination and thought it worked well with the space we used. Be careful, joliebelle- I didn't go for a theme and then next thing I know, my mom started throwing around words like antebellum. It was a good thing I wasn't a bridezilla, though because my navy blue dresses ended up being almost black. There was some drama with the wedding shop over ordering the bridesmaid dresses and during this 6 months of confusion, the designer changed the dye/swatch. We were surprised when we picked them up.

The purple and red is very nice. And of course, I"m partial to the blue theme above. :)

groovypq 07-23-2010 04:04 PM

I'm leaning toward turquoise (it's always been my fave, and of course there's the ZTA connection) and my fiance likes purple (big Baltimore Ravens fan). I think we can do both somehow - like maybe if they both lean toward the blue side? Has anyone seen good turquoise/purple combos?

Also, we want to incorporate the river as a theme, but I see tons of "beach" ideas and no "river" ideas. Seashells don't fit, ya know? :-)

Not sure if this is what you're thinking of. Alot of purple and turquiose color combos tend to add in green or another color to offset it, which turns it toward peacock or something like that. lol. Still pretty though.

groovypq 07-23-2010 05:26 PM

KSUViolet, I <3 you. Seriously. Ever consider doing this for a living? :-)

Haha, actually I have. Maybe when I get tired of my profession, but for now it's really just a hobby (helping my friends out with their events.)

Seriously. You should. I've gotten so many ideas from you.

I'm currently considering other combos to make both mother's happy. My mom agreed to doing red and white for my engagement party though. :)

Kappamd 07-23-2010 11:48 PM

The fact that Violet and I live in the same city makes her not being a wedding coordinator even more disappointing. :p

Trying to pick a date (or even choices of dates) for a med student and PhD student is downright ridiculous. Unfortunately, it seems like the smartest and easiest idea would be to wait until after we both graduate and to get married sometime between then and the start of my residency. Now, trying to pick that weekend without knowing when I would actually have to start said residency will be interesting.

It's just so far away. We've already been together 5 1/2 years; it'll be almost 8 1/2 by the time we're married if this ends up being the plan. If we didn't live in different states, I would marry the guy tomorrow. :(

Oh, and I really like the peacock theme!

That's tough. Anyone I've ever known who was engaged during med school just waited until after grad and before res. Esp. If they were only interested in a summer date.

Are you open to a Friday or an off-seasonish wedding like December or Jan? (Yes, I know it's cold lol) I don't know what the med school schedule is like but if you're REALLY not wanting to wait, you could marry over a holiday break maybe?

I really don't care about the time of year. Our big thing is not wanting to have to start out being married by living in separate states, which would be the situation if we got married before graduation.

We'll figure something out. :)

jennyj87 07-24-2010 09:30 PM

These are super cute KSUViolet. I'm sending a bunch to my best friend who originally had 'teal and coral' as her wedding colors but as of last weekend, changed to mostly blueish.

ASTalumna06 07-25-2010 04:26 AM

Just for the heck of it, I started looking for themes with green and gold/yellow (AST colors!). I've found that a lot of the ones pictured online use fruit for the decorations and centerpieces. I actually really like the idea..
