Outstanding for the Men and Brothers of Delta Tau Delta.
Congratulations to one and all!:) I know it makes one very happy Brother right T E!:D |
So I have no idea if this is in this thread or another...
Beloit College (Beloit, WI) is open for expansion. DPhiE and KD are presenting next week! Two other orgs responded, but pulled their interest. The campus only has AST and two locals (one is staying local, one is seeking NPC affiliation). (Plus TKE, SigChi, and PhiPsi) I am way excited to see this local go NPC! Best of luck to both groups presenting!!!! |
Alpha Sigma Tau will be colonizing this January at The University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Tx.

The Xi Deuteron Chapter of Fiji is supposed to be re-colonizing at Case Western Reserve University
I looked at their national website and haven't found anything about it, but it's been a subject of discussion in greek life here since at least sometime last spring. So, good luck to Fiji, I look forward to seeing their house fixed up and full of brothers (it's so depressing as it is now) |

Not sure, if LXA was the first there but any expansion is good. We have 3 Chapters in San Antonio. The best of luck to any who expand!:) LittleE, will have to check thier web site to see who is there. Many schools who were only locals because of R M Laws are interested in going National so it will be interesting what happens. |
Beloit has Sigma Chi, TKE and Phi Psi in terms of the fraternities.

Sigma Chi chapters are currently voting on chartering University of Tennessee - Martin colony, Sigma Sigma Chi. Unfortunately, the Alpha Alpha chapter at Hobart College voluntarily surrendered their charter. The chapter at Spring Hill College has been suspended until the chapter can solve problems with their insurance.

Alpha Chi Rho @ JWU Providence Campus....

This was mentioned on the AEPhi board but not here - in the Spring AEPhi will be recolonizing at Miami University in Ohio and UConn and we will be starting a new group at Virginia Commonwealth. The UConn expansion is based on a local group which wanted to affiliate with AEPhi. I don't know the exact stories with the other two campuses.

Sigma Nu expansion this semester:
SPRING 2007 Louisiana State University (Phi) (originally founded 1887) Mississippi State University (Iota Gamma) (originally founded 1974) University of Arkansas, Fort Smith |
Does a local sorority have to go through the same steps as an interest group in order to affiliate with a national?
|
Not knowing for sure how Sororities work, I would imagine so. But, it would help if there is a strong group looking to affiliate as my local did with LXA!
Strength in numbers can always help to be looked at. |
Sigma Chi and Rhode Island
After a near nine-year absence, Sigma Chi is returning to the University of Rhode Island. A month-long, headquarters-driven New Chapter Initiative will begin in February 2007. When the new colony is formed in March, Delta Sigma will be 12 months away from regaining its charter.

DPhiE to colonize at University of New Haven (CT)
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Press Release Delta Phi Epsilon Announces Colonization at University of New Haven Colonization Slated for January 2007 St. Louis, MO January 9, 2007 Delta Phi Epsilon is pleased to announce that the sorority has been invited to colonize at University of New Haven. Denise Curran, Director of Expansion, and Kathy Deppe, Alumnae & Chapter Development Director, visited the university in early December to meet with women of the interest group, the Greek Advisor, and local DPhiE alumnae. Founded in 1920, UNH is a private, comprehensive university located ten minutes from downtown New Haven, Connecticut. The present enrollment is 2,300 undergraduates, of which 49% are female. Approximately 85% of the full-time undergraduate students live on campus. Enrollment of full-time undergraduate students has steadily increased over the past five years and continues to grow. The University states that it is in a transition phase, moving from being a traditionally commuter campus to a residential campus, and is in the process of building both a new student recreation center and a new academic building. There are currently no NPC groups at the University of New Haven; however, there is one chartered NPHC chapter, one interested NPHC group, one NIC chapter, and five local sororities and fraternities on campus. Colonization will begin in January 2007 and more information regarding the process is forthcoming. For more information on the University of New Haven, please visit the university's website at www.newhaven.edu. About Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority Delta Phi Epsilon International Sorority was founded in 1917 at New York University School of Law in New York City, New York. The sorority supports 70 collegiate chapters and many alumnae associations across the U.S. and Canada. Total initiated membership is more than 45,000. Website: http://www.dphie.org |
U of New Haven
Phi Sigma Sigma is also colonizing but since nothing appears on their website yet, we did not mention them in the press release. A panhellenic will be formed once both groups charter.

Alpha Sigma Phi Expands, Again
From the Alpha Sigma Phi website:
"AKRON, OHIO - On Saturday, February 3, 2007, the University of Akron Colony will officially take the designation of Epsilon Sigma, becoming the 139th Chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi". We have added 5 new chapters this year. |
http://www.phisigmakappa.org/?action=news&view=1&id=492
Earlier I made a post about Phi Sigma Kappa colonizing at Valdosta State. The article made reference to another Georgia colony of Phi Sig. Exlurker was kind enough to find and share the information that Phi Sig also colonized at Georgia Southern this past semester. |
Kappa Kappa Gamma is expanding to Knox College. The will initiate in March. The campus currently has Delta Delta Delta and Pi Beta Phi. Best wishes, ladies.http://www.kappakappagamma.org/Templ...Contentid=9512
|
Does Alpha Xi Delta have no interest in reopening their Alpha at Knox? It seems strange that the campus opened to expansion and they weren't selected (did they even present?)
I know they were founded at Lombard, but a lot of chapters including the Sigma Nu chapter at Lombard moved to Knox when Lombard closed. |

University of New Haven
About New Haven...I was there for colonization and we recruited some great women! We did not absorb any of the locals and the colony will participate in formal recruitment with the locals this Feb.
I'm so excited for the 4 colonies I helped recruit last semester, they will be installed this spring! I really hope I can get out there to see them celebrate such an amazing task. |
I was the North Carolina State University site looking at the college and it said Delta Delta Delta will be colonizing there after Formal Recruitment ends in 2007. I was very impressed with their websites and their program in general. I wish Tri-Delta all the best on colonization!

Is Phi Mu re-colonizing at University of Carolina-Chapel Hill? Anyone heard anything? ETA: Nevermind, info found |
Chartering at Sam Houston and SE Ok!
I hate when we not find out about expansion and closings from our IHQ!:( Seems GC has a better grapevine than our own home offices! |
The Sigma Chi colony at University of Tennessee - Martin was officially chartered this weekend.

No SOONER than 2 years later, Kappa Delta will be invited to the campus. These pre-decisions were made when Pi Beta Phi was invited to colonize). Greek life at NCSU is growing! Plans have been approved for a new Greek Court (ours now is pretty gross looking -- picture 60's style office building looking houses...) that is modeled after the University of South Carolina's Greek Village. Here is more information and the plans: http://www.ncsu.edu/greek_life/housi...velopment.html Too bad I'm all done and graduated! |
