((((((((((Suzie Q))))))))))

Please don't leave us--if you need support we are here for you online. And, please do listen to what the other chatters are saying about COB. I am so sorry.

I know it hurts but stay positive. Think about COR and maybe going through again in the spring. You have only just got to UW-there are so many other clubs and organizations you can get involved in too.
I know what it feels like to get cut from a chapter you loved, so I can't even imagine getting cut by nine...
Have fun this semester, establish yourself at UW, meet tons of new people and if you still want to do this again, go for it.

suzieQ 09-18-2006 07:25 PM

Thank you everyone so much for your support.

I started out not even being sure that I wanted to join a sorority (the dorms aren't as bad as everyone makes them out to be!) but I guess after four days of women asking me "Why do you want to join a sorority?" I've changed my mind.

I'm going to do Informal. :)

I've been sick with a fever since Friday. I'm not sure if it's somehow related to the stress of rush or just a coincidence. I guess formal recruitment just wasn't meant to be for me: finals AND getting sick. I was pretty much wiped out last week.

Well, I'll let you guys know if I ever join a sorority. As for now, school starts on the 27th, and I actually have a class with a professor who is evil enough to give us a large homework assignment to be turned in the first day of class! Reviewing six chapters in a chem book and doing a problem set. Evil!

Good luck with classes. I hope you feel better soon hun!

I'm glad your planning on giving COR a try :)

Informal Rush

SusieQ:

I was a member of a northwest greek system too (not at UW). However, I had a lot of high school friends who went through rush at UW. I know from their experience that it is very competitive at UW and a lot of the women I knew experienced heavy cuts.

One very good friend of mine had a very similar experience to yours. She was cut so heavily that she dropped out of formal recruitment. This really surprised me at the time because she is really nice, cute, good grades, etc. Anyway, she ended up pledging a house through informal rush at UW. She really liked the house and ended up an active member for all four years at UW.

Keep your chin up. I am glad you are considering informal rush. Best of luck!

Stef the Pef 09-20-2006 09:38 AM

Awwww...I am glad that you liked the KDs, though! And the AGDs! I had a lot of friends in high school who went AGD at UW, so it's cool to hear they're one of the "smart houses." ;)

I'm glad to hear you'll be doing informal rush. Keep us updated on how it goes! Hopefully you'll find a place you love after the hustle and bustle of formal rush.

(Oh, and since I knew a few rho chis this year there, who were yours? Just wondering...)

I'm still here!

So... I'm still here. :) I am starting informal for a sorority soon and am super excited. I have no idea how long the informal process takes but I'll let you guys know if I end up joining! I just wanted to let you guys know that it's not over yet... ;)

FWIW, many of the women who go through informal recruitment find themselves less stressed and actually, can become some of the finest sisters of a sorority!

Have a good time!

Yay!! That sounds wonderful!! Keep us updated!! Good for you to try informal and I hope it is relaxing for you and not as stressful and overwhelming. LOL, I just get overwhelmed when I go onto the UW campus!

Buttonz 10-26-2006 02:32 AM

Good luck! I hope it turns out for the best!

BamaDad DZ 10-28-2006 09:01 PM

Good luck with your informal recruitment! I hope you get exactly what you want, young lady!

Update

I feel weird updating now that I've already decoded the codes!

However, I can say that I am doing informal at two houses that I love. They have beds open winter quarter so I'm guessing I'll know before Christmas break. :)

UGAalum94 11-15-2006 08:58 PM

Best luck to you!

I hope things work out well!

FSUZeta 11-16-2006 08:44 AM

OrchidAlum 11-16-2006 11:18 AM

Best of luck, SuzieQ!

Ha, I can not imagine bringing it up in membership selection without looking like a weirdo.

SoCalGirl 11-17-2006 03:25 AM

Exactly! How do you explain to your sisters that your cyberstalking skills have let you realize that Polly PNM is a freak?

SuzieQ--

Most realize FR is a stessful, cram packed time that may not lead you to "ILOVETHISHOUSEANDIMUSTENDUPHEREORIWILLDIE" impressions. Go back to Informal and enjoy youself. If it's meant to be it will happen. I am just glad you are going back for another look!! Good luck!!

Hey, I will be going to a UW BB game later this month and I see UW won the Apple Cup by 3 points this last weekend...Did you go to WSU to watch it??

Update

Anyone remember me? :)

Well, fall quarter has passed and I know where I'm living next quarter. It is in a house with three letters, but they are not Greek. I'll be living in the University Christian Union's (UCU) women's house, you can check it out at http://www.ucu.com/. I'll be living with sixteen other women and the house is connected to the UCU's men's house. Anyway, it should be fun. :) I think this will be a good fit for me, especially because I don't drink. The house is in the same area as the Greek houses, just north of campus, and I'll be moving in next weekend!

So, sorority recruitment just didn't work out for me. Hope you guys aren't too disappointed. :) Thank you everyone for all of your support along the way!
