From the FB login home page (when you sign in): "Make Groups with Anyone on Facebook: Now you can make and join global groups with people in any network."

I saw this today and I am EXCITED! YAHHHH!! More networking!!

Cocaine (Insert facebook!) is a hayle of a drug!

I have a facebook account. I dont find Facebook the slightest bit interesting. But I can see its appeal for many. What I dont get is why do college educated women post porno like pictures. I was eating sherbert and scrolling through Facebook when I came upon a chick who's stretch marks had stretch marks.
<insert vomit smilie here>

UGGGH

I’m on facebook and it definitely can be addictive. I was late joining though b/c I no longer had a school e-mail address since I had graduated but I finally figured out how to create an alumni account. Most schools will provide an alumni e-mail address to graduates.

New changes: Your take?

Alright; I figured I'd resurrect this thread in light of all of the recent changes. What do you like? What do you dislike?

When I logged on the other morning, I was like, "WHOA!" Talk about T.M.I.! I looked up the update description on Wikipedia shortly after, and they mentioned how they had turned off the Facebook blog comments feature since it got flooded with complaints. :p It's very "busy" now more than ever, that's for sure. The one thing I do like is that you can maximize/minimize the different sections on your "My Profile" page. I've been suggesting from the get-go that they do that (given that *my* profile is a bit lengthy)...glad they finally got around to doing it. :D

So, what are your $0.08 worth?

BlessedOne04 09-06-2006 06:39 PM

The new changes are annoying! I am not really wanting to know all that information about the people who are my friends. The facebook is now a confirmed match making website but its still not as bad as myspace.

MsSweetness 09-06-2006 07:33 PM

OMG!! When I logged on yesterday I was so confused. I couldn't even find my own photo album!! I hate it. When I logged on today the first thing I saw was a new group created to protest the newsfeeder. I joined :D It has something like 354,000 members already lmao!!

MeezDiscreet 09-06-2006 08:36 PM

i don't like it either. i have absolutely no desire to know when my friends get friends or write on people's walls, etc. it's overly-stimulating

Yup; it's "Greekchat" (just do a simple search for it). :) It's also in desperate need of a picture (I *HATE* seeing that tacky-a$$ blue question mark!!! ).

PrettyGirl03 09-12-2006 11:13 AM

I'm on there, but am not addicted to it like others. It's kinda' boring...lol

I agree. The changes are ridiculous. Especially the Live Feed feature. My home page just looks crowded and disorganized.I'm not anyone's mother so I'm not preoccupied with knowing what groups my friends join or who've they just accepted as friends. And I don't know too many moms who are preoccupied with that at their age.
It still has a while to go before its a fullblown myspace and I've heard they are going to allow non-collegians to create profiles. Its all too much really.

sigtau305 09-13-2006 11:38 AM

I'm on both Facebook and myspace. feel free to P.M. me if you want to be added on my friends list.

laylo 10-04-2006 06:09 PM

FYI

I just wanted to let memberfriends know that there is a global facebook group called "Future Alpha Kappa Alpha (A.K.A.)". It was created by a highschool student and it looks like no one has said anything to them yet.

ETA: There are a couple "future delta" groups as well.

MsSweetness 10-04-2006 07:14 PM

Don't forget about discretion, especially on facebook

From one sisterfriend to another;)

I'm not sure I understood- is your post directed at me? Because I have nothing to do with the group, I was just letting members know. Sorry if there was confusion.

MsSweetness 10-05-2006 05:24 PM

I didn't want to rush to any judgement but I didn't think you were a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, sorry if you are and I made that mistake. I know what assuming does. I just know that discretion is always being brought up on the board, and joining a group like "future org" is a bit presumptuous (sp) from what I understand. I just know that no one is a member until they are initiated as a member. You know how facebook is, especially now with the news feed, everyone knows your business and what groups you joined. I wouldn't want someone to set themselves up or blackball themselves by joining the group because they consider themselves to be a future member. I just wanted to help sisterfriends out, we've got to look out for each other.:D

laylo 10-05-2006 08:33 PM

Again, I have nothing to do with the group. I am not in the group. I posted the info to let members know that the group exists, in case they should want to let people who are in the group know that it is inappropriate.

f8nacn 10-07-2006 11:17 AM

(Happy)...I'm on facebook now :-)

RitaMae1908 05-30-2007 05:26 PM

Kickin this topic back up... just for you Obsession08... I joined facebook and I already had a myspace page. Internet junkie right here. >>>>>:)<<<<<<

And for those that didn't already know there is a GC group...
Just search all groups and type Greekchat in the search box. It should come right up.

More changes to fb

How is everyone liking the new changes?!? I came back from Memorial Day and was bombarded with all these new applications! Anyone using them? Which ones do you like best? Which ones do you dislike?

RitaMae1908 05-30-2007 06:11 PM

I'm using the slideshows application and was thinking about adding the iLike application... slideshows is okay... same concept as myspace slideshow.

I use the iLike and Hororscope application. As if I already needed to be on facebook more. I've been cussin out the iLike Song Challenge because it's SO not fair! They ask a zillion rock songs and one or two R&B songs. Not very well mixed at all. And though I am at the Music Expert level with a score of 2,655 as of right now, I am still playing until I beat it!

Thanks, soror. ;)

I'm a member of the GC group on FB (hit me up, newbies!). And, I like the new applications as well (hence, my current status update :p); I like the variety. I'm still in the process of adding some. I think they're a good way to get a better idea of what makes a user "tick" in a "thinking-outside-the-box" kinda way (i.e. EF Globalprint, Causes, The Compass, etc.). I'm really feeling the Files and Docs applications. I've been wanting to download things *other than* photos for the longest.

IlovemyAKA 05-31-2007 11:04 AM

I'm on FB, also. My fave group is the "Funny Greek stuff from around the world..."

I have to join the GC group now!

I have also joined the greekchat group!

Sugar08 05-31-2007 11:25 AM

I joined too... it's great to put names to faces.

PinkIvy 06-04-2007 11:55 AM

I too joined. I have been able to reconnect with alot of my friends.

ProceedwFaith 06-05-2007 03:18 PM

still a little sheepish about venturing out on the new iApplications...im just kind of perusing my friend's pages and seeing what they've done to mix things up a bit...

MeezDiscreet 06-05-2007 03:37 PM

I added the iLike application for music but it only shows 5. Once I started adding them, I couldn't stop!

icebrAKA 06-05-2007 03:48 PM

I think the Facebook Cupid shot me in the ass because I'm now hooked.:D

Live_Wire17 06-05-2007 09:34 PM

TotallyWicked 06-05-2007 11:18 PM
