It was actually posted up here as well, I think that Brother Dever was the one who brought it up and actually saved the PDFs of it. I have copies if you are interested, or you can just seek him out and ask him.
As far as losing something through the changes, I suggest asking Brother Jono since he wrote the article. |
Oh, updated colors IS a good idea.
I like it. I know our colors are "purple, green and gold" but in the world of color, that isn't very specific. We should have a unique shade of each of those. Something with a Pantone value for reproduction. |
The Coat of Arms is currently be created and standardized in a vector format by the Lambda Chi Alpha Graphics Committee (made up of Alumni), helping Jason Pearce and Chris Barrick at LCA Int. HQ. I would imagine that a .SVG file will be available when it is complete. Jeff R. 13:41, 26 April, 2007
-Wikipedia's LXA talk page I knew I'd find it eventually. By the loss of detail comment, I meant that I was wondering if they were going back to higher details in this version. I'll have to find Dever or Pearce and ask'em. Anyone know how to get ahold of them? GZ, I'm sure that royal purple, kelly green, and old gold are pretty specific colors, though even within these, I'm sure there is still some leeway. ZAX, |
Pantone palatte
I believe that Pantone colors are a part of the plan.

You can contact Jason Pearce off of the LXA web site.
Dever has not been around for awhile though. I have noticed over the years that the colors seemed to have faded more and more though. Not nearly as vibrant. |
Thanks EM, never knew that existed.

The November Cross & Crescent Magazine is On-line
Greetings,
The latest issue of the C&C Magazine has been posted. This marks the second anniversary of the publication in this format. Twenty-four issues with 364 pages of material delivered on-time and as promised. What Lambda Chi is running for President? Where are our oldest local chapters located? Find out the answers to these questions in the latest issue of the C&C. Yours in ZAX, Mike Raymond, ZU Zeta |
Mike, thanks for another nice article on our history. Somehow Kappa-Mu got changed to Kappa-Nu (probably from the confusion with Theta Kappa Nu), and I totally missed principle/principal while proof reading, but it just goes to show none of us is perfect, and we're all human.
On the bright side, I got a kick out of Chris's story about Ron Paul. Maybe I shouldn't have written a comment, but I did anyway. Hey, it's a free country. :) |
I OBJECT!
Under Chapter News, Boston Area Alumni Association, it says 30 members of the Alpha Chapter were present. However, it FAILED to mention that there were ALSO members of Gamma Zeta in attendance, and considering the time of the event, still had some brothers there. |

Still, since it was under the heading Boston Area Alumni Association, it would have been nice to see the words Gamma Zeta in the article. It is very misleading.

The December Cross & Crescent Magazine is On-line!
Brothers,
The electronic Cross & Crescent Magazine is now available. This issue marks the beginning of its third year in this format. This issue brings the total amount of new material published about our Fraternity to 400 pages or about the content of 12 paper issues of the magazine. On time and as promised! Jono has written a great article about The Paedagogus and its many incarnations over the year. As always, well researched and informative content. Can't wait to read part 2 of the article next month. Great job, Jono! Stay tuned. Yours in ZAX, Mike Raymond, Z-U Zeta |
Jono, another great job.
That is one of the sections that I dealy love to read. I am amazed the transition of our Paedagogus and when it was originaly started and shows once again how LXA are leaders in the Fraternal world. Thank you again for an informative history section.:) |
So which fraternity copied the Ped.? It didn't say in the article to be PC, so I figured I'd asked here.
|
I have my candidates but it would be nice to know.
|
Brothers,
When writing an article such as this, I take great pains to verify every fact and keep notes of the sources. Late last week, I asked another brother to read the story and check it over for accuracy. He added the line in question right before leaving on a trip and was thereafter incommunicado. I allowed his addition to remain, and we went to print. Despite the context, implying this happened in or around 1926, no pictures of undergraduates appeared before 1961. By that time virtually all fraternities already had their own pledge manuals. Therefore, I cannot vouch for the veracity of the statement and have no answer to your question. But if it is true, perhaps it's best that it remain a mystery. I am glad you liked the article as a whole, and I appreciate your kind words. In ZAX, Jono |
It's That Time of Month!
Brothers,
The latest Cross & Crescent Magazine has been published on time and as promised for the 26th continuous month. This represents a total of 416 pages of new information about our Fraternity. There is an article about our Centennial Celebration that is must reading. Be sure to share your thoughts about plan of action for our Centennial. If you like sports, this will be an issue for you. Happy New Year, Yours in ZAX, Mike Raymond ZUZETA |
Um, forgot about MIKE TANNENBAUM, GM of the NY Jets Football Team!!!!!!! Umass-Gamma Zeta.
Pitino shouldn't be in there, doesn't deserve it. One of our brothers approached him during GZ's darkest hour to see if he had any advice or help, and he acted like LXA never existed. |
February C & C is On-line
Brothers,
Another issue of the Cross & Crescent is available for your reading enjoyment. In my opinion it is a strong issue worth checking out. You will find a fine article about Garner Mulloy, once a world class tennis player, and still with us at 94! You will also find an article about the demise of LCAP written by its new Chairman. The Winter Leadership Retreat is also covered. Some mention is made of the Centennial Celebration. Of course the best article in this issue is part two of Jono's superb article about the Paedagogus. Well done once again Jono! Let them know what you think. It is mostly a volunteer operation that is saving the Fraternity hundreds of thousands of bucks each year. Your comments would be appreciated.... Yours in ZAX, Mike Raymond, ZUZAA |
Well, the LCAP article is not 100% accurate.
The Gamma Zeta alumni ARE interested in purchasing back the property. Only we do not have the means to carry it for very long, and we would have to take out a mortgage to purchase it. With no recolonization on the horizon, we wouldn't have the means to keep the property, and we would end up selling it. So it doesn't make much sense for Gamma Zeta to repurchase the property from LCAP only to turn around and sell it. We hope to work out an arrangement with LCAP that would essentially cut-out the middle-man (Gamma Zeta). If something is not worked out, Gamma Zeta would indeed purchase back the property and sell it. |
Thank you Mike! But, of course, you do have my curiosity up - what Jimmy Buffett song?

I'll bet you were thinking of Gardner McKay, who had that great sailboat in the TV show "Adventures in Paradise".

Who gets the input?
If I make an input on the C&C web site who gets the input? Mike? Jason Pearce?

C&C Input
Quote:
Jason Pearce is the "Info Tech" Guy and Editor of the C&C. He is assisted by Tad Lichtenauer and Chris Barrick. I believe that Jason has the ability to see and edit everything that comes to the magazine. He is the "main man" as far as the C&C goes. I hope that this helps answer your question. Yours in ZAX, Mike Raymond, ZU-384 |
I was curious what the 'food chain' was; I discovered a brother that was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship and made the appropriate input via the web page. I had thought about sending it to Mike directly but elected to follow the rules - glad I did!

The C&C Magazine Is On-Line!
Brothers,
Continuing its unbroken string of being published on time, the Cross & Crescent Magazine made its appearance early this morning. You might find the article by Executive VP Bill Farkas to be of interest. Congratulations to the C&C Team for another fine issue. Yours in ZAX, Mike Raymond, ZUZAA |
While I m one of the first as usual to read the newest C & C, I am some what dissapointed in the total scripting of it.
If I am wrong, I do not know and I am going back to reread it. Not impressed with this issue. |
New edition is out
The April issue is posted at http://www.crossandcrescent.com
|
Like the article about a Brother who is pictching for The KC Royals and the chapter roles.
The rest was so bland! Sorry, the History about LXA is of upmost importance or should be to all of us. It was nice to see Rhoads Scholars but how important was this? Many do not know about the Founding or the Badge or Coat of Arms even though it has been presented before on C & C. What about hazing or the dropping of racism, pledges. and many other problems that have haunted us and other National Greek Organizations. History is just that and we all can learn from what what was right or wrong. |
The May issue
It's here
Notable is the expansion calendar |
And, it is so commendable to see a list of New recharters and dates!;)
Thank you! |
Hey, what happened to the C&C? I'm unable to access it on either my PC or Mac...anybody else having problems?
|
same thing on my cell phone
|
... My picture is cut off in chapter news... damnit
|
Been trying to get on since yesterday afternoon with no luck. I was told this morning there's been an ongoing problem with the web hosting and we're going to be getting a new provider soon.
