Ranked teams that lost today

Iowa
Michigan
Louisville

Oregon gave USC a scare in the first half but USC is killing them in the second half.

bluefish81 09-25-2005 08:52 PM

The Iowa State-Army game was down right ugly Friday night, but they managed to pull out a victory in the end. Thank you fourth quarter. 3-0 heading into the next game against the Nebraska Huskers.

The1calledTKE 09-25-2005 09:03 PM

Iowa, Michigan, and Oregon fell out of the top 25. I read somewhere this is the first time Michigan hasn't been in the top 25 since 98.

DeltAlum 09-26-2005 10:35 AM

The mighty Ohio University Bobcats miss the top 25 again after our three point victory over the always dangerous Kent State Golden Flashes.

No respect.

That makes us 2-1, one of our very best starts -- perhaps overall records -- in recent years.

My Cyclones blew so many opportunities to win this game and win in Lincoln for the first time in ages. I was shocked that Nebraska had never played an overtime game in Memorial Stadium before today. Then I remembered all the Nebraska teams of the past how many seasons... I was so hoping that ISU would pull the upset and win today. :(

Everyone will simply just beat up on each other (the way how every other conference beats up on each other). I guess the one team that I do believe that is overrated is Tennessee. I think Florida is the best team in the conference but they are punished since they are the only team in the conference with balls in facing a pretty tough non conference schedule (miami and fsu). All other SEC teams usually schedule pancakes (at home) and it is very rare to see them return the favor in a home and home game.

While my alliance is with the Pac 10.

My next question for all of you. Who do you think the best conference is?

I think top to bottom it is the Big 10. However, the ACC's top four I would put up against anyone.

Of course IMO the SEC is the best conference!!! Every year someone says "the SEC is down this year." I hate when people say that, I mean spare me, check out the polls. More SEC teams are "year after year" ranked high in the polls. And, we don't have to play "ranked" teams outside of the conference when we are playing ranked teams within the conference.

That is all - please don't test me I don't know all of the statistics for the past 75 years or anything. I just hate when people say that. I am a bama fan, but AU got robbed last year with out a chance to play for the championship, because "the SEC was down last year.". (I don't know if they would have won or not but they played and beat more ranked teams then USC)

Edited to add this weeks stats
Pac 10 rankings
12 CA
1 USC
14 ASU
20 UCLA

SEC
5 FL
7 GA
10 Tenn
15 Bama
4 LSU
(AU ranked 24 in coaches poll)

I am scared to hit that submit button cause I know I can't back up my opinion with memorized statistics so I am hoping some more SEC fans will bail me out of this post.

edited to add poll results as of 9/30/5

Hi Connie :)

My name is Bobby. Nice to meet you :D

Do you go into a bars, pick a fight and hide hoping your friends will back you up?

Alabama? Good stuff. Are they finally off probation? Or are they still cheating? Anyways...I like Alabama too :) One of my favorite teachers went there and she wrote me a very nice letter of rec for my applications to various law schools. Oh, and Shaun Alexander is on my fantasy team! Oh, and Robert Horry my all time favorite bball player went there! He rules man. But perhaps the biggest reason why I'm a Alabama fan is because I learned how to choke someone by watching Latrell Spreewell. That guys the man.

Anyways. Are you sure you want to get into this?

Ok, being serious. The moment I saw Carolina was playing Auburn, I (and many fans) knew that we were going to get our a** kicked tonight. And we did. That's why I didn't watch the game on TV I guess we're bring another Hall of Fame coach to his knees.

And thanks Wake for causing Clemson to loose another close game!:D

lol I'm not gonna argue w you cause we're all biased towards our own teams AND I have no recollection of the 95 Huskers. But MAN was I annoyed w the way the Trojans played tonight.

Notre Dame whipped up on Perdue tonight....I hate that they slipped up on Michigan State, otherwise they'd be in the top 8& possibly be in the run for a National Championship.

Just my opinion,

Iowa Fucking state. The day that Husker fans celebrate 2OT wins over the 'Clowns is the day that I say prove that UNL is having a crappy year. As much as I hate to say it, Tech is going to have their way with NU next week. And btw, I don't know if you're from Texas originally, and I doubt it, cause no Texan would refer to anything having to do with Tech as Red River anything. I reiterate my previous statement that the best team in Nebraska is in Omaha, and I think the Mavs would beat the Huskers by 2 TD's.

ND might be for real. And they remain to be the last test on USC's schedule. If the Irish don't beat the men of Troy, noone else will.

aurora_borealis 10-02-2005 06:09 AM

Holy crap we haven't won a game until the homecoming game today. Thankfully "win or lose there's always booze" wasn't the theme of the day.

As if we will ever win another game. Yay for good grades and prominent alums like Deepthroat, a Nuremburg trial lawyer, the mule cloning guy and the dude that invented Teflon.

See us in Hell team from Salt Lake City North that is just 13th grade with a blue turfed football program.

I was calling my dad from the wedding reception we were at getting score/OT updates.

The difference between yesterday and the last 4 games we won? In the last 4 games, we've had a defensive score. That's where we didn't capitalize.

I was at East Lansing on the Hudson here in NYC for the game...it was a great game to watch in a bar surrounded by MSU alumns, even with a Loss. And Domata Peko, #96 who ran for that long MSU TD, is from American Samoa & I was told will not cut his hair as a part of his beliefs in his Polynesian heritage...

The biggest difference between the teams, and why I say that USC can't be considered the best team ever like some were saying previously, is because that '95 Nebraska team only trailed three times during the season. By 7 points against Washington St. and then twice to Florida in then National Championship game by 3 points and then by 4 points. All three instances occurred in the first quarter and early second...That team never trailed at half time.

And BigCityStripper, youre right, Nebraska has taken quite the tumble over the past 4 years. But we're coming back, and we're 4-0, so look out. However I tend to agree with you that TT will probably win next week. But strange things happen to visiting teams in Lincoln, and that's why we play the games.

You have got to be kidding me. Amycat will be nice about this but I won't.

Nebraska's 1 dimensional team wouldn't even hold SC's jock And check this out. I know you remember Miami's 2001 team. You know. Remember when your entire state came out to L.A.? You guys had just gotten punked by the Buffalos and somehow snuck into the Rose Bowl. Yeah, well that Miami team would beat the tar out of 95 Nebraska. Want another team? 72 USC team. Ok crap you want another? 92 Alabama team.

Since you obviously live in Nebraska and have nothing else to cheer for I will forgive you for making such a ricockulus statement. " oh um, usc was down by more points than us so yeah we rule!".

If you wanna make another thread about this, lets do it.

And for the record. I do believe that the 95 nebraska team was truly great. also, I am not saying that this USC team is the "best ever". This USC team is not even as good as recent USC teams. But this USC team and the other teams I mentioned would run track meets around 95 Nebraska and that woman beating backfield.

Yes, the game yesterday was a great one. At least the parts that I did see. I really don't like regional coverage and not being able to see the Spartans in action...

Last years game was great until Stanton got injured and UM came back and tied and eventually beat us in 3OT's ;) ;)

WTF? Overtime against BAYLOR?!? That game should have been over in the second quarter. Our defense sucks.

Plus side: My best friend was at the game and told off a very obnoxious 40-yr-old Baylor fan. :p

Don't get me started on last year's game. I left at halftime and was almost in tears, screaming in my car on the way home that I didn't stay to watch. I was so mad at myself!

Unfortunately, close only counts in horseshoes and handgrenades...
