NEW YORK -- Britney Spears will be seeing double when she gives birth, according to a new report.

The New York Daily News reports Spears is expecting twins. The paper claims Spears just received the news and is now getting ready for two little additions.

Spears is set to give birth this fall. Her representatives have not confirmed the reports of twins.

I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, it could be great because it can prove that African Americans are just as capable of landing high-profile jobs. Our education and street sense is just as good as anybody's. From watching the Apprentice, it always seems as though the African-American contestants are always counted out before they even get started. And they hardly ever get respect when they are project managers. If the African American team wins most challenges, it can help to dispel some of the "inferior" steretypes. However, if the white team beats the Black team down, then it can (and will) open a racial can of worms in this country.

And they wonder why folks want to kill police officers...

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Police expect autopsy results to determine whether a bullet that killed a 19-month girl was fired by police or her father, who authorities say used the toddler as a shield in a gunbattle that lasted nearly three hours.

Both the girl, Susie Lopez, and her father, Jose Raul Pena, were killed as Pena dueled with police on Sunday. One officer was wounded.

On Monday, Police Chief William Bratton said his officers were having a difficult time coping with the girl's death.

"This has been extraordinarily traumatic for them, wondering if they possibly contributed to the death of a child or maybe caused the death with their own gunfire," Bratton told a news conference.

He said officers followed regulations allowing them to fire "when it reasonably appears necessary" to protect themselves or others from death or serious injury.

The girl's mother, Lorena Lopez, said she pleaded with officers to hold their fire.

"He had problems with depression, his business was not doing well," Lopez told KNBC-TV. "I told them that he needed help, he needs a psychologist, but please don't shoot."

Bratton said the fatal shooting was only the second time a hostage had been killed since the department formed its SWAT team in 1967. In that time, SWAT officers have responded to 3,800 calls involving hostages or people barricaded inside buildings.

It was the second time in nine months that Los Angeles officers have fired on an assailant holding a hostage. In November, police shot a man who held a pregnant woman by the neck outside the Mexican Consulate. Officers pulled the woman away unharmed and the man later died.

Sunday night's killings followed a three-hour standoff in which Pena, 34, exchanged gunfire with officers three separate times.

Though it is unfortunate that the little girl was killed, I don't hold the police officers 100% responsible in this situation. He was firing at the cops and if he had ANY love for his child, he would not have put her in that situation.

TonyB06 07-12-2005 01:52 PM

The final report on this will be interesting. Media said it was a three-hour standoff. Would the little girl be here today if they had waited a fourth hour? a fifth? This was a hostage situation, so he was surrounded and not going anywhere, right? Unless he was moving at officers, firing his weapon couldn't he not have been waited out? I know police have "use of force" escalation policies in these situations so it'll be interesting to see what the report says on this.

But I agree w/ Redefined Diva. It would seem that the suspect put the child's life at risk, more than the police did.

Jay Z

Jay-Z has lost his nephew — whom he referred to as his best friend and son — in a car accident.

AllHipHop.com reports Colleek D. Luckie, 18, was in the passenger seat of his Chrysler 300 when it drifted across the centreline of a Pennsylvania highway and collided head-on with a tractor-trailer. The car, driven by a friend of Luckie's, then struck a telephone pole and continued through a field for another 300 feet or so. Luckie was killed, despite wearing a seat belt. The driver sustained minor injuries and was treated at a hospital.

Jay-Z gave the car, worth about $43,400 Canadian, to Luckie as a graduation gift. The rapper often wrote about his sister's children in his songs, most notably in "Anything" ("Dear nephews, I’m writing this with no pen or a pad/And I’m signing it, ya uncle, ya best friend, and ya dad/Don't look back if you fall and you’re feeling bad/I’m right there from your cut to when you peelin' the scab") and "Heart Of The City (Ain't No Love)," which sees the rapper refusing to get into a fight because, "I got nephews to look after."

BV Buzz- 7/11/05

Former Michael Jackson publicist Bob Jones, along with Jackson family friend Stacy Brown, have written a tell-all tome about the trouble-plagued "King of Pop," 'Michael Jackson: The Man Behind the Mask' (Select Books Inc., $21.95). In the book, Jones, who also worked for years as a publicist for both Rogers & Cowan and Motown Records, explores Jacko's problems with African Americans, his own self image and how he created a derogatory name for blacks -- "slaboos." BV Buzz spoke with the legendary public relations practitioner, and he offered his insight on Jackson and some other personalities in the entertainment business.

On criticism he's received for writing this book: "It was a book about my tenure. I did not have a confidentiality agreement. I think loyalty rings both ways. That pretty much says it. People say what they want to say but those people don't pay my bills."

That he was paid anywhere from $300,000 to $500,000 annually by Michael Jackson: "S**t! Not to any black person that I know! Need I say more? There were some Rolls Royces that were given to attorneys, etc., but I don't know of any gifts that were of that nature that were given to any blacks who were on the payroll. I don't know where people came up with those figures."

On the downfall of Diana Ross: "The public has shown her what she is. She's such a pain in the a**, she can't get work. The same thing you meet on your way up, you meet it coming down. You can make life very difficult by your actions. Isn't it rather ironic that Gladys Knight, who really wasn't a top priority when she was at Motown, has a year-long gig in Las Vegas and Diana Ross can't get arrested?" Didn't Gladys Knight really discover the Jackson 5? "That is correct!"

Paula Abdul's affair with Jackie Jackson: "That supposedly took place when they were getting ready to do the Victory Tour. The rumor has it that Jackie's ex-wife Enid, who's now deceased, followed them to a drive-in theater out here in Los Angeles, out in the valley, and created quite a bit of havoc there." Was there a physical altercation? "There was. Paula is no angel."

On Michael Jackson's skin-lightening: "I would imagine and the only thing I can attribute it to is self-hate. I never visited his dermatologist with him, but I have heard the rumblings as well as you have that he could have possibly been a, hell, guinea pig for some new drugs. I don't know because I have no reason to change my color or to have plastic surgery. And it was offered to me too! My boss offered it to me if I wanted to have my nose done."

On the alleged feud between Michael Jackson and Prince: "That was primarily a publicity stunt. I do know that when we were on one of the tours and we played Minneapolis, Prince came by to visit him at the hotel." So they were secret pals? "Of course! Of course!"

Pick up a copy of 'Michael Jackson: The Man Behind The Mask' for more revelations from Jones and his writing partner Brown who, in addition to being best friend to Rebbie Jackson, is an analyst/consultant for MSNBC. The book has reportedly sold more than 25,000 copies since its release two weeks ago.

No Laughing Matter

If you're not funny, then you'd better stay off of Sheryl Underwood's stage. The popular comedienne, known for her Republican shtick, is the host of the upcoming season of BET's 'ComicView' and is taking comics to task for their humorless material.

One comedian -- you'll have to watch the fall season of the show to see who -- performed during one of the recent tapings in New Orleans and Underwood ripped his performance to shreds. "Hello, is TP Hearns there? Hi TP! There's a comic here with your mannerisms, but you're not here," began Underwood. She continued, "Hello, is D.L. Hughley there? Hey, it's Sheryl Underwood. I'm at 'ComicView' and though your jokes are here, you're not here."

The audience erupted with laughter! And she wasn't done. "I hope next year he doesn't come back and perform my routine," she quipped.

During a segment called the 'New Jack Segment,' Underwood came out on stage before a new comic, who was faring miserably with the highly intoxicated crowd at the Orpheum Theatre, could even finish. Spraying air freshener as she entered stage left, Underwood asked, "Why are you out here stinking up my stage like this?"

"I wanted you to be funny because you're so handsome," she continued. "Because you're so handsome, I'm gonna make you my road manager. Because you're definitely going to make more money doing that than trying to work as a comic."

Be sure to check out Underwood's antics when the new season of 'ComicView' debuts Oct. 3.

Moving Ahead

Apparently Karrine Steffans has turned tragedy into triumph because her debut book, 'Confessions of a Video Vixen,' landed her the number seven spot on the New York Times Best Sellers list on July 10. The book is already approaching its fourth printing, with a family-friendly cover being printed for Wal-Mart and Target chains as well.

Steffans' book is as much self-help as it is drugs, abuse and, ah, well, "Superhead." "I'm just glad that people recognize that my book is more about me helping young women rather than just some dishy tell-all book," said Steffans.

While the unexplainable abuse from her mother, her tumultuous marriage with Kool G Rap and her being raped are tear-jerking stories, readers are just as enticed by the sexual escapades with everyone from Ja Rule, Fred Durst, Bobby Brown, Ray J and Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, who apparently sent a legal letter to Amistad/HarperCollins declaring he'd only heard of Steffans the day the book was released.

Hip-hop mogul Irv Gotti is a fixture in the book. Steffans says of Gotti: "The sex became more like a boxing match than anything else. We would compete against each other, and on most every occasion, I would win. There were a few times when he actually got up and ran and even locked himself in the bathroom in order to get away from me." And that's a mild story.

I bet you there are others in the entertainment industry who are sitting somewhere mad because they hadn't decided to write a book like this years ago!

Can't Say Names...

... Sources say that a Hollywood actress/mistress is supporting her very married baby's daddy, who has been unable to financially support his actual wife and other kids because of several failed businesses. "He owes people money all over New York City, so he's been hiding out," offered the source. This wouldn't be the first time that said actress hooked up with somebody else's guy, however we're certain she didn't anticipate that this guy's money troubles would be so bad that his daughter couldn't get her high school transcript because her pop owed the school money.

Buzzworthy

... Actress LaTanya Richardson graces the Summer 2005 issue of the African-American Christian women's magazine, PRECIOUS TIMES. In the issue, Richardson talks about the struggles of working opposite her husband Samuel L. Jackson in the upcoming film, 'Freedomland.' "It's mind-boggling. His talent is so enormous that people believe that [my husband] handed me the part in his movie... He did not hand it to me. I auditioned like everyone else, and I receive the same treatment as every other actor in the movie," shared Richardson, who also starred in 'The Fighting Temptations.' "On the other hand, because Sam is the star of the movie, he is treated like one. It's difficult as the wife to watch others take care of my husband on the set. Yet, I understand those are the perks of being the lead."

... Syndicated radio personality and Hollywood insider Tanya Hart is returning to her roots. The diva of celebrity dish began selling her CD, 'Tanya Hart Sings,' July 5 on www.CDBaby.com. Having sung with the likes of Dizzy Gillespie and Stevie Wonder, performed with her own band Streetdancer's Bash and continuing to sing at the West Angeles Church of God in Christ, Hart decided to make an album available for friends, family and fans to experience. In addition to checking out 'Tanya Hart Sings,' you can see the Emmy and Peabody Award-winning talent in the Oscar-nominated documentary 'Tupac: Resurrection.'

... Jazz newcomer Lizz Wright -- well she's not that new since this is her second CD -- may not be selling Norah Jones numbers, but the Georgia peach is still happily exploring her creativity through music. "Have a little mercy on a preacher's daughter. I feel like someone let me loose in a toy store, and I'm kind of taking over everything, rattling it, throwing it around and having a good time. I promise I am not completely random, and I don't even know why I said all of that," said the smooth contralto, during an intimate concert at the Birchmere in Alexandria, Va. Wright's newest, and critically acclaimed, offering 'Dreaming Wide Awake' is in stores now.

... Prince Azim, son of the Sultan of Brunei, flew celebrities like Lil' Jon, Mischa Barton ('The O.C.'), Kid Rock and Scarlett Johansson ('Lost in Translation') to London to celebrate his 23rd birthday at Frankie's Italian Bar & Grill in Knightsbridge. "Lil Jon was surprised Prince Azim was so hip, and now wants to fly him to the U.S. to host one of his 'crunk' parties in Atlanta," said our tipster.

BTW: I think I know who they are talking about in Can't Say Names. We talked about this before.;)

OMG...Lauryn Speaks!

NEW YORK - Lauryn Hill's long freeze-out of the public is beginning to thaw. Hill, whose 1998 solo debut "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" sold millions and won her a record five Grammys, has been largely MIA since. But in the new issue of Trace magazine — her first interview in years — Hill discusses her self-imposed exile, the Fugees and her future.

"If I make music now, it will only be to provide information to my own children," says Hill, who has four children, in the issue on newsstands July 14. "If other people benefit from it, then so be it."

Hill has continued making music — and her long-awaited follow-up to "Miseducation" is upcoming. Along with Wyclef Jean and Pras, Hill and her old Fugees mates have been reuniting recently for sporadic concerts, including a surprise performance at the BET Awards.

However, in the interview, Hill has few kind words about the group.

"The Fugees was a conspiracy to control, to manipulate and to encourage dependence," she says. "I took a lot of abuse that many people would not have taken in these circumstances."

The 30-year-old singer, who dated Jean when the group was together, says she saw a "spark" in him. Though she says she's now married to Rohan Marley, son of reggae legend Bob Marley and the father of her children, Hill emerged disillusioned with men.

"As a young woman, I saw the best in everyone, but I did not see the lust and insecurities of men," she says. "I discovered what a lie was, and how lies manifested themselves."

Hill's last recording was 2001's "MTV Unplugged" — a soul-searching breakdown of a performance where she confessed things such as, "I find it hard to say that everything is all right."

"In order to bare one's soul, one has to display their whole vulnerability, which most people will never do," Hill says. "These people who bare their souls end up being the source of ridicule."

Her reluctance to release new music since, she says, "is because a lot of the songs were transitional. The music was about how I was feeling at the time, even though I was documenting my distress as well as my bursts of joy."

No release date has yet been set for Hill's next album.

This could be very interesting and will definitely get ratings. However, I doubt that the best candidates will be chosen and I'm almost positive that there will be stereotypical behavior from both sides. The whites will be scared of some outspoken black person. Some black person will tell a tale of growing up in the hood and making it anyway. If the characters vary far from that, I'll be surprised.

Dvyne Evolushun 07-12-2005 09:23 PM

If that's the case, that show will definately get ratings, but no one will really win... AA's will say that the Trumpster is racist if he picks a white person as the apprentice. If an AA wins, it will be said that he needed a token.

Personally, the whole idea is racist. So... what would be the basis for this type of grouping? I mean, the basis behind his last group was to see which would actually win - Street Smarts or Book Smarts, due to the perception that a Book Smarts are actually smarter. So.... what perception is he trying to prove or disprove???

NEW YORK — Rapper Lil' Kim was sentenced to 18 months in prison by Judge Gerard Lynch at Manhattan's U.S. District Court Wednesday afternoon. The rapper was also fined $50,000, and must turn herself in to authorities on September 19.

Hip-hop's Queen Bee — a nickname bestowed on the diminutive rapper by her ex-boyfriend, the late Notorious B.I.G. — was facing up to 20 years in prison, but as expected, Lynch's sentence was less severe (see "Lil' Kim Won't Get Maximum Sentence, Expert Predicts"). Kim reportedly wept and clutched a Bible before the judge read her sentence.

Kim (born Kimberly Jones) was convicted on March 17 of perjury and conspiracy for lying to investigators and a federal grand jury about her involvement in a shooting four years ago at New York hip-hop station Hot 97. During her criminal trial, Jones claimed she had no knowledge of what caused the February 25, 2001, gunfight in which one man was shot in the back (see "Lil' Kim Pleads Not Guilty, Released On $500,000 Bail" 1486382). Kim's assistant, Monique Dopwell, was also convicted on perjury charges.

Kim maintained throughout the trial that Damion Butler, one of her co-managers at the time of the incident, was not by her side when shots rang out in front of the radio station; security-camera footage later proved he was — a direct contradiction of what she'd told a federal grand jury (see " Lil' Kim Found Guilty Of Lying To Grand Jury, Investigators"). She also told the court she was unable to positively identify a photo of another man who was believed to be involved in the shooting; both that man — Suif "Gutta" Jackson, a member of her former group Junior M.A.F.I.A. — and Butler later confessed to firing on rap group Capone-N-Noreaga, and pleaded guilty to gun charges as part of a plea bargain (see "Lil' Kim's Bodyguard Sentenced To 12 Years For His Role In Shootout").

Other members of Junior M.A.F.I.A., including Antoine "Banger" Spain and James "Lil' Cease" Lloyd, took the stand during the trial, and testified for the prosecution that they, too, has witnessed Butler and Jackson with Jones at the time of the shooting (see "Lil' Cease Says He's No Snitch For Testifying Against Kim").

She looks terrible. Maybe this "alone" time is what she will need to get her self esteem back in order. That girl got some issues. She looks like Jacko.

Here is an excerpt from Terry’s interview with Tavis. Can you tell that girlfriend is pissed?
Terry talks to Tavis Smiley
Date: Tuesday, July 12, 2005
By: EURweb.com

Terry McMillan spoke out for the first time bluntly on “Tavis Smiley” on PBS on her well publicized dispute with her estranged husband Jonathan Plummer. McMillan is the best-selling author of "How Stella Got Her Groove Back," "Waiting to Exhale" and her new novel "The Interruption of Everything."

The conversation with Tavis will air tonight, Tuesday, July 12 on PBS. Check your local listings or visit www.pbs.org/tavissmiley for airtimes.

Here are some excerpts from McMillan’s comments to Tavis about the dispute:

She Kicked Him To The Curb
“I was getting a divorce from Jonathan in the first place. When I basically asked him if he was looking for a place to live was when he decided to tell me he was gay. I find out he has a lover of nine months. I kicked him out of the house. His lover was not available. I put him up in a hotel for three weeks, and the next thing I know, he gets an attorney and he’s suing me for my prenuptial agreement saying basically that he signed it (under) duress, which is not true.”

It's About Extortion
“I’ve got evidence to prove all kinds of things, that he was gay when he met me, that this is basically extortion. Everything that he has done from the time I said I’m not paying him any money. I have a valid prenuptial agreement which states no spousal support, no legal fees. I pay for his college education, a vehicle. I paid $300,000 to get him a pet grooming business. Three days ago, I heard that he sold everything in it and split. Everything he’s been doing, he’s been lying, he lied in his court documents and made them available on the internet. He and his attorney both are guilty of trying to spread rumors about me being a homophobe. Everything in his court documents are lies with two exceptions, one that he’s gay and two that he’s Jonathan Plummer.”

He’s a Habitual Liar and Sociopath
“I resent that he did all of this to basically eclipse the publication of my book so people would think that it’s a publicity stunt. I don’t need him for publicity. All this is basically because he wants my money. He’s not getting it. He has risked my life by having sex with men for years. He has become a U.S. citizen because of his relationship with me. He’s trying to get sympathy for himself and he’s a habitual liar and he’s a sociopath. Now, I will prove it. He has gotten on my last nerve.”

Afraid for Her Life
“But right now, I’ll be honest with you, I’m afraid for my life. He’s coming across as Mr. Goody Two Shoes and Mr. Nice Guy. Right now, the world knows almost everything about me. The contents of my home. He has spread all of these lies on the internet and even gone on nationwide TV and has lied. He has not had to prove a single lie. It is filed in the US Superior Court, every lie that he has told. He has gone on nationwide TV to spread them. I really resent it. The legal system has not worked in my favor. My personal information should not be in the news, not be on the internet, not on newspapers. He should not have been permitted to go out there and spread lies about me that nobody believes anyway.”

It's Not About Him Being Gay, But ...
“I don’t care about him being gay, but he risked my life. What if I’m sitting here HIV positive. I can’t get rid of that. And he wants my money? He should get a job. That’s all I have to say.”

Not A Homophobe, But a 'Jona-phobe'
"I will not be deterred. The bottom line is that I know that I was told don’t call him names. But he’s gone on TV and called me a homophobe. I have too many friends who are gay for him to even to say that. I’m not a homophobe. I’m a 'Jona-phobe.' He has basically orchestrated this entire thing, all of which is to set me up to pay him money. Because he thought this would embarrass me. I’m not embarrassed. What I am is insulted that he went this far. That’s why I know I’m a 'Jona-phobe.' The botton line is this, he has basically orchestrated this entire thing, all of which was to set me up, to pay him money. He thought this would embarrass me. I’m not embarrassed. What I am, is insulted that he went this far. That’s how I know he’s a sociopath. He’s a covetous sociopath."

Insulted, Pissed Off and Railroaded
"I’m insulted and humiliated that he was able to get away with this without having a shred of evidence. The bottom line is this, he’s the one who’s gay. He’s the one who withheld this knowledge and information from me. He’s the one who has tried to hurt and sabotage my entire life and disrupt it. I am insulted. I am pissed off, is what I am. And so far he has done OK. I’ve got a judge ordering me to pay this bastard money - and his lawyer. I’ve got a valid prenuptial agreement that states that I don’t owe him anything. I’ve got proof. It’s like I feel like I’ve just been railroaded. I don’t feel weak by it because there are a lot of legal issues that I hope to be able to bring up that a lot of women who aren’t in my position couldn’t even address. And that’s where I’m coming from. It’s not just about me. I’m smarter than he is. I am insulted that somebody of his intelligence – that’s probably more than anything, that people know just how stupid he is. That’s what I’m embarrassed about. Cause I didn’t know how stupid he was. He’s slick but prison is full of slick people."

Shaq looking to buy home in Lauderdale

Star Island not secluded enough for Heat star.

Tired of the steady stream of boaters that stop by to gawk at his Star Island mansion, Heat center Shaquille O'Neal is looking to take up residence in Fort Lauderdale, sources said.

In August, O'Neal spent $18.8 million for a 19,440-square-foot, eight-bedroom, eight-bathroom house at 26 Star Island Drive, which is now on the market.

Sources say O'Neal is looking for a more secluded spot for his wife and five children. The Fort Lauderdale house O'Neal is believed to be eyeing is on the water but is less accessible to nosy onlookers.

O'Neal's agent, Perry Rogers, did not respond to a telephone message or e-mail seeking comment. Rogers and Heat executives are negotiating a contract that could keep O'Neal, 33, with the Heat for another four or five years.

Carlos Justo, of Sol Sotheby's Realty in Miami, who said he sold O'Neal the Star Island home but is not listing it now, said he received an offer of more than $25 million  for it five months ago, but O'Neal was not interested in selling then.

Yeah...it's the new old thing now to look CRAZY thin WITH the big Chanel-style shades, which make you look even smaller because they make your head look biggers *and your face smaller somehow). I think she's competing with the Olsen Twins, and Lindsay Lohan who also has dropped a sh%$load of pounds...

Yeah I have seen other pics of Nicole, and she is way to thin right about now. In the above pic you can tell she is really small because that head of hers is really big.

I would agree. And I wonder why she'd want to compete with a couple of lil' girls who are not cute (the Olsens). She always impressed me as having a personality and she's more amusing to me than "Parasite" Hilton, her former BFF.
