The accuser's mother and the family's attorney were on FoxNews insisting that the photos of the young lady on the internet named as the accuser, is not her daughter. There were photos of the supposedly accuser in formal wear (maybe a prom ), but those are not the correct pictures of the victim. The photos that were shown seemed to be the same photos I had seen earlier this week.

:o

Maybe these "friends" are making money off of these journalists, but are giving them the wrong information intentionally.

Can someone tell me why some people, especially white folk, are so quick to believe that Kobe actually raped her?

Also on The View, Star Jones said that it's going to come down to when she said stop.

Now I wasn't there, but what if she stop right when Kobe was cuming? It's too late by that point. What do yall say?

I'm not a Kobe fan, but from what everyone is saying, it's out of character.

All I've been able to really say is, "How dumb could he be?"

lostnfound117 07-31-2003 05:43 PM

does anyone think kobe should testify?

on my favorite radio station this morning, there was a heated discussion about it. many felt he may incriminate himself more. i'm not sure what to think.

He is real dumb, and he has a "crack is whack" defense team as well. Should he testify hell no. I mean the fool alreay made the mistake of admitting guilt to having with her. What kind of legal team would let their client already plead guilty to that.

Bryant called 911 hours after DNA test

(CNN) -- Just hours after Kobe Bryant returned from a trip to Colorado during which he is charged with sexually assaulting a woman, the NBA star made a 911 call from his home in Newport Beach, California, and paramedics treated a woman there, emergency officials said Friday.

Although there is no indication the call is related to the sexual assault case, it was made shortly after he submitted to DNA testing in Colorado.

According to Newport Beach officials, the call was made from Bryant's home at 12:25 a.m. July 3. The caller hung up without talking. Emergency officials called the home back and talked to Bryant, who they said was the original caller.

Paramedics were dispatched at 12:40 a.m. and provided assistance to a woman lying in bed upon their arrival 10 minutes later. Authorities said "further transport was refused," and the emergency crew left the home by 1:13 a.m.

Officials would not say whether the woman was Bryant's wife, Vanessa.

The star guard for the Los Angeles Lakers will appear in court Wednesday to hear the reading of the sexual assault charge against him. (Full story)

Bryant was charged with one count of sexual assault after a 19-year-old woman told police that he assaulted her June 30 at a mountain lodge where she worked and where Bryant was staying.

Bryant has acknowledged having sex with the woman, but he said it was consensual and that he did not assault her.

The woman went to police July 1, and the next day, Bryant voluntarily submitted to DNA testing at a hospital in Colorado. He then flew home to California.

On July 4, he returned to Colorado, where he was arrested and photographed before posting bond. He then flew back to California.
----------------------------------------

Vanessa probably was screaming and yelling at him at the top of her lungs and passed the hell out.

RedefinedDiva 08-02-2003 11:08 AM

This is also part of the story that was in our newspaper this morning:

Paramedics were summoned to the house for a similar medical emergency on March 5, Cleary said. During that call, paramedics took a female to the hospital after evaluating and treating her at the home.
"A friend of the (patient) arrived and assumed responsibility for her baby and he secured the home," a report by fire officials read in part. Medics spent an hour at the house before taking the woman by ambulance.
Cleary did not say whether the female treated was the same for both calls.

Maybe Kobe has be beating Vanessa down or does she have some sort of medical condition that requires repeated medical attention....? Hmmmm.....

I think it does say "I Love Kobe." And that's a nice big rock. Hope they had bodyguards near them.

lostnfound117 08-06-2003 03:07 PM

(Aug. 6, 2003) *All eyes are on the tiny hamlet of Eagle Colorado today because that's where Kobe Bryant will be. He'll be there to make a brief appearance in an Eagle County courtroom where he will be advised of the sexual assault charge against him, his rights and possible penalties. He is free on $25,000 bond.
Bryant, 24, is accused of sexually assaulting a 19-year-old Eagle woman on June 30 at The Lodge and Spa at Cordillera. Bryant denies the charges, saying it was consensual sex. Bryant is charged with a Class 3 felony, and if convicted faces 20 years to life probation or four years to life in prison. In other developments, as far as his endorsements are concerned, The LA Laker guard has already lost one. Bryant who speaks Italian, had been signed to a contract by the makers of Nutella, an Italian chocolate-hazelnut spread. Well, the company is dumping him; they say that "considering the recent developments" it will phase out its links to Bryant. He still has ties to Nike, McDonald's, Sprite, Upper Deck, Nintendo and Spalding ... for now.

In a legal development, the Associated Press is reporting that Bryant's lawyers asked a judge Tuesday to punish any law enforcement officers who discussed the sexual assault case with reporters in violation of a court order.

The lawyers want Eagle County Judge Frederick Gannett to schedule a hearing so officers can be questioned under oath about whether they leaked information. The request came after news reports in the past week quoted anonymous sources who described reported injuries to the accuser and the amount of time she spent in Bryant's room. The sources also said Bryant gave inconsistent statements to law enforcement officials.

Finally, NBA commissioner David Stern criticized Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban on Tuesday after Cuban said the league can't help but benefit financially from the Kobe Bryant sexual assault case.

"Any suggestion that there will be some economic or promotional benefit to the NBA arising from the charge pending against Kobe Bryant is both misinformed and unseemly," Stern said in a statement issued by the league office.

"That idea does not reflect the views of the NBA, NBA owners generally, or others associated with our sport," Stern said.

Cuban, the most outspoken of the league's 29 owners, has said the NBA is bound to get an economic boost when Bryant returns to the court for the Los Angeles Lakers because it will draw the interest of casual fans and non-fans.

Cuban appeared on the television show 'Access Hollywood' on Monday night and said of the case: "From a business perspective, it's great for the NBA. It's reality television, people love train wreck television and you hate to admit it, but that is the truth, that's the reality today."

Gina1201 08-06-2003 07:01 PM

Well the court appearance is over. Nothing happened. The next court date is October 9th at 1PM (see AKA thread about Kobe). The media coverage on this is sickening. When Kobe was leaving in an SUV, Keith Olbermann on MSNBC said, "Kobe's leaving in an SUV. That should bring back some memories."

So, my question is, do you think it's right to compare OJ and Kobe since they are both African American athelets? IMO, no since the charges were so different.

Honestly, I think that JC would hurt the situation more than help He is too much of a celebrity himself and would raise the profile on an already high profile matter. Also, I would say you need to look at the population of Eagle, Co and see how are they likely to view JC - negatively or positively. Usually jurors do not have a reason to have an opinion about the lawyers but JC is an exception. If they were put off by his representation of OJ or others, he may not be a good move.

I remember Johnnie Cochran saying that he wasn't going to take on any high profile cases after Diddy's - he was going to start working on behalf of the "common" and "ordinary" folk. But I do believe that a dream team is definitely in order here. Eagle Co. is going to do their best to make an example of Mr. "Beanie Man"

Nutella is some gooooood stuff! It's a chocolate and hazelnut spread. Try it on some warm bread! You will be instantly addicted! They sell it here in regular supermarkets.

My comment about the whole Kobe thing is this. He may have had sex with the girl, but I really don't think he raped her. That's not really in his character. I know him (We went to the same high school-shout out to Lower Merion High School-Ardmore, PA!).

Think about it. If he did rape the girl, do you really think he would have even admitted to having sex with her at all???

I wasn't the pillow or the bedpost so I dunno if he did or didn't do it...but I think to cover his ass that's EXACTLY what he would do.

Kimmie1913 08-08-2003 11:11 AM

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: where the heck...

Actually, from a legal strategy standpoint, that is exactly what he should do if there is chance they would find his, uh, DNA on her.

Think about it, if he says nothing happened but the find his DNA on her, he is clearly lying. But if he admits that they had consensual sex, it becomes a "he said, she said". There is no longer a question about did they or didn't they, only about consent. That is what makes acquaintance rape so difficult to prove. Often the alleged assailant admits sex but argues it was consensual.

This is why I'm not going to pass judgement on the alleged victim. I've had so many sisters and friends who were not believed when their charismatic assailants claimed consent.:(

And I love the idea about the official team consent forms and notary public. It's a shame that the world is coming to that, but I guess it's always best to CYA. Kobe sure didn't, and look where it got him.

PS: How can Vanessa even hold her hand up with such a boulder on it?
