AMEN! have never seen the wire, but I want to watch the first couple of seasons on dvd just for stringer alone. SHAMEFUL!

anyway, the season premier was EFFING BRILLIANT!!! i L-O-V-E the parallel between the police force and the teachers. it was soooo in sync.

i laughed my azz off at ol' boy busting the balloon on himself.

every time i looked at the kid with the green stripe shirt, my heart hurt because i've had students like that and it is so real that it is too real.

i LOVE this show!

Why did I fall asleep on the last ten minutes and wake up during the closing credits?

Then I had the nerve to dream about the Wire. lol

I was no more good at them with the Piss ballons....ew.

Now we know why there are no bodies to be found..wait until that comes out! Wonder how long it will be before they find Lex. Hope the streets don't get any bright ideas from that:rolleyes:

And what was up with the lady showing the slides to the teachers? She was straight out of the 1950's or something. Who cares that there may be children lined up at the pencil sharpner when (like one teacher said) they have ripped it off the hinge and are throwing it at you?

I'd just like to thank ComCast and HBO for making HBO OnDemand... I have seen the first THREE (3) episodes, and it's OFFICIAL... I want to be cast in this show... The 3rd episode is already OnDemand, and boi!!!! Prez can't handle it!

Yeah, I feel bad for him too. When D'Londa (Naymond's mom) closed that door on him.... I coulda kicked her in the mouth! It's one thing for kids to pick on the stankin' boy, but not an adult. I thought he was going to do something weird when he sat next to the slasher girl. I don't know what to make of that.

I see I am going to have to stay out of this thread, however...I don't have on demand, so I don't get the shows early. I hate knowing what happened before I see it. I like the element of surprise :D

I think that was his way of letting the girl know (indirectly of course), that he understood what she was going through. I think he may eventually "flip", but ten times worse than the girl did.

I was saying the same thing. I don't have On Demand either :( , and I don't want to find out anything before I'm able to see it on Sundays. I may have to stay out of this thread as well.

Agreed. I watched the episode again last night and his body language is so guarded and withdrawn. He is usually not walking side by side with the other boys, he is always looking down. I don't think he will really 'flip' in the same way slasher girl did, but I would not be suprised if he started doing drugs. He does not have the self confidence that Michael has to actually sell them.

You're right. He fits the profile of a person who would start using drugs, just to help him cope with his life.

It takes place in Baltimore, but several of the actors are from the New York area.
The current mayor could probably be characterized as crooked although he likes to say "I don't wanna know" whenever someone wants to talk about dirty dealings. I think he used to be for the people, but the power and access to money has gone to his head and he is far from what he started to be.

Marlo is the current kingpin on the Westside of Baltimore and yep, he's young.

Yeah, wiretaps are legal. You have to get a court order for them. This season they were trying to catch Marlo and I think they were still supposed to be looking for Kintell Williams (who they never show), but something stopped them.

Yes! This is the episode that I needed. I was starting to get disgusted....I felt as if the Wire was losing its edge, but now....I can't wait for next week!

I'm still learning names. The retired ganster guy who is running the boxing gym took two boys to a boxing match. He was taking them home. One boy jumped out and told him he didnt need a ride home. Why did he do that?

I am actually thinking about getting on demand just so i can catch up.

The retired gangster guy is Dennis "Cutty" Wise. The boy that jumped out is Michael. There was no explaination as to why he did this, but there is a lot of speculation on the Wire Boards on HBO that he was molested or that he just does not trust any adult and does not want to "owe" anyone anything. AGain, this is just speculation.

I don't have on demand either. I do not recommend going to on HBO.com message boards if you do not have on demand because there are a lot of spoilers on there. THey do have a pretty nice 'who's who' charts with names and a little back ground that might help you know who's who.
