If they want a gazillion kids, more power to them. What burns me up is that when families are very large, they have to depend on the help of OTHER PEOPLE to support them - charities, state/fed, neighbors, friends, other family. If you cannot support your children that you voluntarily brought into this world on your income, then you shouldn't be having them. Of course, if circumstances change (disability, spouse loss, natural disaster, accident, etc.) then its different because noone can see the future. Birth control and abstinence really do work

Even thought I think that in this day and age it's not economically right to have nmore than 2 or maybe 3, but I will give Jim Bob and Michelle their props on this one because Jim Bob does work and is able to afford his heard without the aid or assistance from the state...reason they starting buidling their new house themselves...cut down on expenses. thta i take my hat off to them, but I'm sorry that is still way to many kids and I don't care if they can afford them.

The only way to support that many kids on a single salary is to be Warren Buffet, Donald Trump or Bill Gates...and he is none of the above. |

I agree! If their hapayy more powere to them! I swill stick with the two I have.:p |
I used to want a dozen kids because I grew up so lonely (my sister and I didn't grow up together). My kids would always have at least 3 or 4 playmates somewhere in the house. Now, I think 3 is plenty. I can't imagine feeding, clothing, and having college funds for all those babies. I'd love them all, but being able to give them all equal attention would be so hard. I keep thinking of Cheaper By the Dozen--somebody's bound to feel ignored. That's true for most families that have more than one child, but with 17? There's a good chance she's got at least 5 kids with "Woe is me" syndrome.

Oh no not again!!!

I have seen this with older kids in other families that have been shown on TLC or Discovery, but the Duggers oldest is like 17 maybe....I'm still shaking my head because that is still a hellva lot of chirrin. |
The coolest thing about this family is that they are DEBT free. Granted they are making dough from the shows and the interviews but I believe even without that they would be debt free because of how they live their life. There is a lesson to be learned. If they can do it with 19 folks in one house...

Go 'head Duggars
That's right. The Duggars are debt free and are financially sound. They have money, and know how to make it work for them, I say good for them. They can have as many children as they want to and can provide for each and every one of them.
They have a system set up that works for them and I not lying, my husband and I are going to use a tip or two from them as far as how they schedule their lives. Each child has a age appropriate chore and it's teaching them how to be responsible. So I say if they like it, then I love it. |

she probably had a secret passageway built into their bedroom where they could sneak out and nobody see them leaving. and my goodness, when do you have TIME to have sex...theres no way at any given moment at least one of the kids is awake! |

Michelle's Uterus needs to go on strike! Or she needs to go into menopause and fast! |
I was starting to watch this show that came on last night on TLC about a couple that has 17 kids...the oldest is 30 and the youngest is 4. Now the husband said that they don't believe in birth control and don't practice it, well that is your prorogative, but the thing that I thought was real funny was that the mom said that they are just like any other family, except they have 17 kids...I was like how in the world is that like any other family......only one child is married, and it's one of the daughters who I think is 28, so they have all these grown azz people living at home.

^^Phew! When I saw that it'd been bumped again, I got scared that baby #18 was here. :o
|
dayumn, I hope not! She just had #17 at the end of June/early July. All she had to do was sneeze and it came out (most likely). I hope she gives the hoo-ha a rest (or for frick's sake retire that doggone thang)

Can I donate a hairdresser to cut the hair of all of the women in the family? I'm sure Wigs for Kids could make better use of it.
I'm sorry. That hair style on all of those girls is as rediculous as mom having 18 kids. I said it, I'm snarky, so there! |

Benzgirl, if Wigs for kids can't use the hair, then Locks of Love can!

Baby #19 due 1/1/2009
The Duggars announced their 19th child will be due on New Years Day 2009, and they said they are discussing plans for having their 20th child.

18 kids?!? Gross.
The mom probably has the snap-back of a circus tent. Bless her heart. |
ummm population control much?
|
Damn, I am surprised her uterus has not fallen out! Can she send her fertility goddess my way--just once though?
|
it's her 18th, not 19th, that will be due on New Years

Nia, the first comment was more to put a humourous slant regarding the Duggars on your post. The second comment was totally unrelated to the first, just a humourous observation. In short, my post was not intended to correct or slight you in any way, shape, form, or fashion. *goes back to edit post for clarification* |

Anywho, I saw them on one of the morning shows this morning. I STILL feel that it is totally irresponsible. I STILL contend that the family cannot sustain themselves on the father's income alone; whether they depend on charity or government assistance. |

Meaning: given that the Duggars have given birth to a boatload of kids and Mrs. Duggar's uterus is due to drop (out her body) any day now, in the grand scheme of things, does it really matter if her next child is the 18th or the 19th? In short I was trying say that the incorrect detail in the post was trivial by way of a humourous ribbing to Mrs. Duggar. Nothing more, nothing less. Yall read way more into my post than what I ever intended to convey. Gosh dang. *chuckles and SMH* I love yall anyway. :) :D |
