Lakers rebounded from a tough game 1 and looked pretty good last night. Looks like the next round should be a dooozy. Steeltrap, don't get upset when my Spurs end y'all's season again ;) just playin, just playin. But hey, when Shaq can score only 7 and y'all win by like 15 you gotta be happy.

And woohoo, the Mavs are lookin down the barrell of a loaded shotgun. Come on Sactown, don't fold under the pressure.

I'm seein a Spurs-Sactown WCF. Wouldn't that be awesome?

If the Spurs and Lakers end up in the second round, it will be a must-watch. And I won't get horribly upset if the Lakers don't pull it out. Spurs are a class team. :p

Whoever wins that series will win the whole dang thing, i guarantee it. I assure you that any confidence problems the Lakers might have will be totally assailed if they win. Likewise for the Spurs.

What's funny is how feared/hated Big Shot Rob was by SA last year, and this year the guy can do no wrong :D I hope he gets the chance to drop a couple nails in someone's coffin this year.

TOnight's game against the Grizz will be tough. I think Memphis will be rocking for their first postseason game ever. The Spurs need to jump on the Grizz early and not let up, or they could be in for a dog fight. If the Grizz have a chance to grab any game in this series, it will be this one. Spurs in a tight one, 84-78

Nets over Knicks by 15. NY is just outclassed.

Big Shot Rob Horry, who has a remarkable resemblance to Will Smith, will never have to buy another drink in Los Angeles. :D
SoCal still loves him for all he did, particularly his three-pointer that busted one into the Kings in 2002.
N.Y. is outclassed. Stephon Marbury can only do so much.
I also want to see how the Grizz come out. The Spurs are a better team, but I think Memphis will make you guys earn the win.

No chance, Lake show doesn't have, nor do the Spurs

TWolves, take one MVP, mix him with the best shooter in the league, a quality slasher/three baller, a solid swingman, and the deepest bench in the league...what do you get?

aw, are you saying the Kandi man has no chance against the Diesel? you've GOT to be kidding, Kandi has owned shaq from his days with the Clips. ;)

MAN, Spurs in a nailbiter tonight. Memphis came out on fire and we still hung on. When Miller took that shot, i was flashing back to our game one with PHX last year when Marbury beat us on the same deal.

thankfully, it worked out well for the good guys. One win closer before the REAL NBA Finals start :D

That was a tight, tight game. But then again, playoff experience is goiing to win out.
And CTHU at the idea of Kandi killing the Diesel. If Minnesota wins, it's because of the symmetry and mad game of Kevin Garnett, a truly different 7-foot player, and the help of Latrell Spreewell, Sam Cassell and Wally S.

Disappointing Game 3

I didn't expect a sweep. The Lakers are flawed, but they dug a deep hole for themselves. If they don't pull it out tomorrow, it is serious worry time.
And I'm also wondering WTH on the play calling. Pound the ball into the Daddy. Save Kobe & the good free throw shooters for the fourth quarter.

polarpi 04-24-2004 10:52 PM

I can NOT believe the refs in today's Kings game. They were blowing the calls left and right, and then calling fouls that didn't occur. The only thing that's keeping me upbeat is that with the Kings losing so poorly today, they come out pissed off next game.

It was, once the Lakers decided to play defense.
I probably am going to miss the broadcast of Game 1 of LA/San Antonio because I'm traveling on Sunday.:(

Let the REAL NBA Finals begin.

They should have the O'Brien trophy on hand to give to which ever team survives this series.

I hope Karl enjoyed those open looks he got against H-town, cuz he's not going to be getting the same clear shots against Tim or Rasho or whomever is guarding him for the Spurs.

hehe, well, it must SEEM like there are 900 teams from Texas, because all 3 of our teams are on during the playoffs. Somebody call me when the Clips get close enough to SNIFF a playoff berth.

The Rox got punked, but their I-10 brethern Spurs will avenge that.

if Dallas could pull their heads out, they could beat the Queens.

It's gonna be a good rest of the playoffs. It's really a shame that a few Laker fans have to ruin the reps of the rest.

Only saw "highlights"

But the Lakers can't get sloppy w/the play in the fourth quarter. Not good. They must step it up tomorrow. To win this series, they'll have to steal one in San Antonio.

In truth, a lot of it had to do with the defensive pressure the Spurs put on the lakers down the stretch, and the play of Rasho.

Instead of doubling Shaq like they Lakers saw the whole series from the Rox, Rasho would alternately front or guard Shaq from behind. In the 4th, the Lakers were forcin the ball in and Rasho made a couple great steals.

The Spurs also got 4 points on 2 consecutive trips down court due to Lakers failing to run the floor and jaw with the officials instead.

I was happy at halftime when the Spurs were up by 8, but when Kobe turned it on in the 3rd, i'll admit, i was worried. Tony Parker played at his best and i think he's showing that in another couple years, he'll be an All-Star calibur PG. My favorite part was Phil jawing with Duncan during a free throw. THe commentators were like, "man, if i was the guy guarding duncan, i'd be tellin Phil to shut up and not piss him off" Duncan closed the door.

BIG game on wednesday. If the Lakers steal it, we've got a series on our hands. If the Spurs can take it that gives us a lot of confidence heading to LA for games 3 and 4.

I didn't watch it but I am very happy for a Kings win! YAY!
The local radio station remade a song to apply to the kings. It's kinda funny. I don't know the name of the song, or frankly the words either... but it's a hip hop song and it's the one that goes "...the window... to the wall..." or something. It's annoyingly cute.

and I love you too. :)

I caught the 4th quarter of the game last night after I left school. It's the curse of the MVP award. :p KG was in a cold shooting slump. Game Two should be better.

polarpi 05-06-2004 02:12 AM

It'll be interesting to see how the Kings come back to play in Game Two after flying home after Game One and then returning to Minnesota later in the week, and then only get two days before playing Game Three (what a crazy schedule...who came up with that one?)

But for now....Yay for the Spurs! (and this is the only time I'll be rooting for them) ;)

Steeltrap 05-06-2004 11:46 AM

This is definitely not good

After seeing last night's Laker-Spur game, this is hard for me to post. I'm just dumbstruck about getting so far behind in the first half.
Not ready to throw in the towel, but definitely looking ahead at 2004-2005.
I think if it comes down to it, you give Gary Payton his walking papers and keep Karl Malone. I'm not even factoring in what Kobester might do.
Payton can't guard young Tony Parker, who's lightning in a bottle.

Colonist 05-06-2004 01:43 PM

Lakers=straight owned

Twolves this Saturday will come alive and get a little revenge for game 1

Tony Parker was on Fire last night. 30 points for him and Gary was pretty much a non-factor guarding him. The Lakers gave a pretty good run with Shaq scoring the majority of the points. Shaq and Co. really need to take a look at themselves in the mirror and make a decision as to do they really want a championship or not.

Precisely. The team needs to cut the egomaniacal BS and get it together. Use Daddy early and Kobe and other good foul shooters late. I'm awaiting Game 3 in Los Angeles.

polarpi 05-09-2004 12:37 AM

Can anyone explain the officiating to me? How can Miller and Garnett dive for the same loose ball and have it be called a foul on Miller? How can Bibby have a shot on it's way to the basket and Garnett knocks it away and it not be called goaltending? How can Cassell hit a shot and run away like a gorilla or someone juggling his "balls" and not pick up a technical? If anyone else was to have done that, they would've been T-ed up so quickly their head would still be spinning.

All in all, it was a good game, but just wait until Game 3...Kings are going to be PISSED off, no matter what happens
