***LOL @ AKA2D'91 w/ the asian lady on Soul Train*** I remember THAT!

Total Elegance 06-25-2000 11:01 AM

What happened to the black guy that use to be around that long haired asian lady? He always seemed to make his way down the Soul Train line first with his lil entourage lol. I know yall remember him, he thought he was the coolest and finest thing since red koolaid. He was also featured in one of New Editions videos back in the day as a background person.

tickledpink 06-25-2000 03:06 PM

What about when Jodi Watley was a Soul Train Dancer. And speaking of dancers, I don't know if anyone mentioned this --- The Fly Girls from "In Living Color".

tickledpink 06-25-2000 03:08 PM

Wow, this post has 6 pages. AKATUDE --- thanks for starting this topic!

Remember, Jennifer Lopez was a fly girl on In Living Color.

tickledpink 06-26-2000 12:44 AM

I didn't know that....

AKA2D '91 06-26-2000 12:58 AM

I remember him, too. He was that tall, skinny one. There was this other light skinned guy that always did the German Smurf. He was in that entourage too.

Remember when Rosie Perez was on there during that time, also. She always wore that White dress with the fringes ( she would always shake)LOL and her hair was in a mushroom.

AKA2D '91 06-26-2000 10:31 AM

YEAH! Her hair was BLACK and short, about to her ears. Check out the repeats on FX, if your cable provider has it. She does not look totally the "same" as she does now.

Remember that Dancer, Darcelle, from Solid Gold... the black one with the long hair...or was that the beginning of the WEAVE days?

MaMaBuddha 06-26-2000 04:45 PM

AKA2D '91 06-28-2000 07:01 PM

While posting under the "Roll Call" thread, I remembered a chant we did in elementary school....

Roll Call sha boom bop bop sha boom...
repeat
my name is "Jill" (check)
I'm in the 5th (check)
I got "Jack" (check)
on my mind (check, check)

Repeat so on and so forth with different names with the respective name....and you had to work that attitude (neck and hips)! That was during my pre-AKA2D days (LOL)

Was that one mentioned?
Thanks, Soror Infamous K for the thought!

Do you guys remember the lemon twister? You know when you put your foot through this lil black thing and with you other foot you jump over the yellow lemon that was attached to the black thing. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

Oh what about ZOOM-Common and zoom zoom zooma zoom. Let's see if I can spell this right-UBBA FRUBBA WUBBA DUBBA-oh something like that.

I remember having to wear dresses every single day. My best friend would bring me a pair of shorts and a shirt, and I would change clothes when I got to school. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif I just told my mother about that yesterday. We laughed awhile. Would you believe that my son told me that I made him wear something to school one day last year that he did not like. Guess what he did? Yup you guessed it. He snuck a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt in his back pack and changed his clothes. Now I check their back packs before they get out of my car http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

I had a Baby Alive. Her name was Baby Alive!hehehe

Oh my gosh! Wonder Twin Powers Activated Shape of an Ice Shovel form of an Eagle.

Okay, so does anyone remember the LARGE DAISY prints of the 70s? What about playing and walking without fear? Not, hearing of the term School Massacres? What about happiness without a care in the world? What about sitting in between your mother's legs getting your hair pressed and popped with the comb because you won't stay still? What about, your hair drawing back up because it drizzled? Does anyone remember the yarn like ribbons put in your ponytails? Do you remember?

Speaking of Easter speeches, what about waiting for 10 minutes for someone's two-year-old to say "Happy Easter" and having to clap for them when they didn't say anything? They'd been screaming it to anyone who'd listen all day but you couldn't pay them to say it now.

AKA2D '91 04-16-2001 01:06 PM

I had to bring this one back to the top...

As I was traveling this weekend, I remembered something...

How many of your parents, back in the day, when you traveled would stick a towel in the windows(literally rolling down the window to insert the towel, then roll it back up) to block the sun from burning you to death?

We did that back in the day, that was the time wayyyyyyy before tinted windows.

I was born in '75, so I remember much of the 80's. I remember watching Dallas, Dynasty, and Falcon Crest with my grandma. Now Dallas and Dynasty come on Soap Net, so I get to relive "Who Shot J.R. ?" and all those good catfights on Dynasty. I wish they would put that black soap, Generations, on Soap Net. I'm tired of them showing Ryan's Hope and Port Charles all the time.

Cartoons today are not as good as the ones Hubby and I watched as children. I like Spongebob and Powerpuff Girls and Hey Arnold! but cartoons like Jem and GI Joe and He-man and She-Ra was the stuff back then!! I miss the USA Cartoon Express, too!! I thought Hubby and I were the only ones who watched that!!

nikki1920 01-22-2004 04:47 PM

NOT the CARTOON EXPRESS??!!!!!!

Did you watch Calliope too? lol
IT wasnt just me!!!

You mean "Dinosaurs" and "Not the mama!"

"Gotta love me!"

He even had a song...."I'm the baby, gotta love me/especially when I hit my daddy with the frying pan."

That was Kevin Clash, the voice of Elmo.

Wow, I also remember an episode about sexual harassment. This guy named Al Harris, nicknamed "Sexual" made some joke at work and got sued. The news story was:

What Al "Sexual" Harris Meant

AKAnka 03-14-2004 10:12 PM

Okay I went through and read the whole thing...and if I'm not mistaking NO ONE mentioned the ultimate movie....."the LAST DRAGON".
