I went through Rush my freshman year Fall 1997, but I dropped out because I was overwhelmed with school and work. I didn't think I was going to ever rush again, but I became close with many of the AGDs over the next coming years.

So I went through Rush again, this time as a Junior during Spring 2000. I'm glad I went through as a Junior because I knew what I wanted in a sorority experience and in a sister. :)

Colony founder initation was spring of my 3rd year (of 5 or so years)- large affect in my college experience, but this may be from starting at the ground level of building a chapter.

Plus the greek community had already had a large impact on my life: friends with 2 IFC pres., have conducted Speakers Bureau presentations in 2 fraternity houses, friends with our former Director of Greek Affairs, attended many fundraiser dinners and events.

I joined first semester of my freshman year, fall 2001.

It's pretty unusual to join a house at my school in your junior year, and there are usually several sophomores that go through formal recruitment, but overall the majority of rushees are freshman...

CaliPhiSig03 10-25-2004 07:46 PM

It's in my sig, first semester freshman year. Best decision ever!

We have deferred recruitment for the NPC's at my school, and SAI does pledging spring semester as well, although they recruit fall semester. I accepted my SAI bid in November or December 2002.

That is Cool I am in SAI and Theta too!!!

I pledged SAI Fall of 2000 (my sophomore year)
I pledged Theta Fall of 2004 (this semester)- Initiation is this friday. I am way excited!

nauadpi 10-30-2004 12:43 AM

I joined first semester my freshman year (Fall '00)...

But there are a lot of upperclassmen who do join... My diamond sister joined her senior year (she did end up having two senior years though)...

PiLove 10-30-2004 01:05 AM

I "pledged" in the Spring of 2003 as a Junior. There were only 7 in my alpha class.

alpha_99 10-30-2004 01:33 PM

I pledged freshman year second semester and it was the best time of my life!

Susan_Renee 11-01-2004 07:34 PM

Spring of 2004...my junior year. I'm glad I waited a while to pledge. It gave me plenty of time to observe all the sororities and choose the right one for me. However, I really wish I had joined a little sooner...maybe my sophmore year. It's sad that I just joined and now I'll be graduating in August.

Erik P Conard 11-02-2004 03:39 AM

oldest of the old

I pledged TKE fall '54. Pres. of pledge class of 27; we initiated
26 of them. Among was 1 WWII vet, 2 Korean vets, one 6'7"
marine, etc. at the then Kansas State Teachers College, now
Emporia State University. Worked 100 hrs a month in art dept &
had auto parts job for 10 hrs a week. drank too much but paid
all my bills. won jitterbug contests, loved the Tri Sigs and Alpha
Sigs...I'd give anything to be able to move back into the house,
we housed 55 in our "mansion." I was all of 18 then...

MissOh2Cute 11-02-2004 07:48 AM

I pledged and "crossed the burning sands" during my junior year at Appalachian State University as a member of the "Hardrock 10" during the spring semester of 1980. I'm currently the Asst. Chaplain of my graduate chapter and was selected the "Omega Man of the Year" this year. We'll have our Achievement Week Convocation on 19 February 2005 at St. Joseph's AME Church in Durham,NC. Even though it's been almost 25 years since I was initiated, it doesn't feel like it. I'm stilll young at heart

Que Psi Phi 'til the day I die!

ADPi Conniebama 02-08-2005 05:33 PM

I pledged my freshman year 1989. I was the last pledge that ADPi had @UNA because. I didnt make my grades and I was initiated late.

The next "pledge class" were/was called ALPHA's. So, that was kind of cool to get the last "MODEL PLEDGE" plaque.

Corsulian 02-09-2005 02:26 AM

Junior
Fall 04

LovedOne 02-09-2005 08:43 AM

I was actually a senior when I pledged in Fall 03. Really late I know, but because of the people I was friends with up until that point I was completely anti-greek until the semester before. I ended up changing my major the following semester though, so I'm going to be active for two years instead of just one. Sometimes I wish I would have pledged earlier, because I absolutely love being greek, but I'm glad I didn't because I'm not sure my experience would have been the same or if I would have ended up in the same place and I wouldn't change being a Phi Sig for anything :)
