New one . . . Opals/Emeralds . . .
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...922263901&rd=1 Welcomes objective questions but NOT questions regarding where they got them or why they are selling them? If it bothers them to get that type of email then maybe they should stop? EDITED to include these items: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...117659899&rd=1 Man, that guy is hot in his Pi Phi wear! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...257879534&rd=1 ???? |
Oh, that opal and emerald one is soooo gorgeous.

Custom badges may be special ordered by calling the jewelry manager at HQ. There is a link from pibetaphi.org's jewelry page. The choices to think about are whether you want just two stones along the shaft or the crown shaft (12 stones) and whether you want a stone in the point (used to have a choice of anything... and maybe with a custom badge you would. The standard ones look like diamond or pearl is the only option).
If you ever go to St Louis, there is a display at HQ of heritage badges... talk about bling!! |

I really love that opal and emerald one, but I think it will soar out of my price range eventually. I'm the current high bidder, but I don't see that lasting long. |
Okay, that "hug a Pi Phi" t-shirt is now at $47 US!
Does that seem crazy to anyone else? It's a t-shirt! That's almost $70 Canadian!!!!! |
After seeing the price on that, I wish I hadn't given all my old t-shirts to younger Pi Phis ...
|
OMG-- I have one of those "Hug a Pi Phi shirts"!! Only I didn't buy mine off Ebay! They were very popular in the early 80s--
I agree, $47 is absurd for a screen printed t-shirt but people go crazy when they think something is unusual or collectable. |
It's hard to believe something from the early '80s is "vintage." When I hear or see the word "vintage" I think of poodle skirts or space-age patterns from the '50s.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go check the mirror for gray hairs ... |

Then again, the carving doesn't look very "professional". And if it was part of a set, you'd think the rest of it would pop up somewhere, too. Maybe someone had it specially engraved, or did it themselves for some reason. |

I'm so excited because I'm still winning the badge I'm bidding on (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=WDVW). I hope, I hope, I hope I get it!
Has anyone ever bought the Pi Beta Phi matted engravings that are always for sale on ebay? I was thinking it would be really nice to have something classy and Pi Phi to put on my walls when I graduate and get a real apartment... Here are some weird Pi Phi ebay things: Pi Beta Phi cowboy hat: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...494251208&rd=1 Pi Beta Phi zebra towel: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...314412325&rd=1 |

I'm sad to see there's three other badges on there, but I can't afford the opal one and I don't need another plain gold one. |
That cowboy hat looks like something the host committee wore for the Houston Convention. I don't think it really is one of their hats but thre are so many Pi Phis in Texas that it doesn't surprise me that they make cowboy hats that have a Pi Phi logo.
I bet that fork was once part of a set that belonged to a chapter. It would not surprise me if a lot of chapter property was misplaced when the chapter lost their housing (which was common in the 70s) and it is now resurfacing on Ebay simply because it's a relatively easy way to sell things. It may be worth a lot more than whatever the bid is, but that's the risk you take with an auction. Things can go for less than they are worth, or more... both new and old. Collecting spoons is more common than collecting forks which may explain the low bids |

HI Susan!
Yes, I agree...the engravings appear to be a dime a dozen for all the greek organizations and the ones that were purchased for our house were nothing breathtaking. However, if you'd like to invest in a framing job, I'm sure a PiPhi engraving of any quality would look fabulous. Ours are just matted and unframed at the moment...perhaps my chapter should look into getting some frames :-p |
Pearl/Sapphire . . .
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...923201613&rd=1 Why do they say it is vintage? You can still buy them! |
ughh... a bunch of new pins are up on ebay.. including a pledge pin. i checked out some of the items that the high bidder had also bought --- she bought about 500 other pins from all different groups!!! wowwowowow.. i wonder if she resells them?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...923342170&rd=1 The high bidder on these badges is the same person and I was wondering if anyone knew if this bidder is a Pi Phi. I don't have the funds to rescue these, but I'm just curious. You can PM me if you'd like! |
pretty bracelet
not a pin, but a really cool bracelet if someone is interested:

another cool arrow pin... maybe something to wear if our badge isnt appropriate http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MEWA:IT |
Another pledge pin here.
|
" Description
* Gold arrowhead pin with the beta on the center * Was worn during my pledging ceremony * Measures approx 1/2 in long * Sorry that the picture is blurry" aaaaaahhh.. someone please contact that girl and tell her she shouldnt be selling HER OWN pledge pin on ebay!!!!!!!!! aaaaaaaaaggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh  :o :(  |
She's only starting the bidding at $1. Maybe someone should buy it and then return it to headquarters.
I'd try and get it, but the seller only ships to the US. |
She is selling all sorts of Pi Phi stuff, cups, key chains etc. Wish somebody could've gotten her darn pledge pin back from her. Who knows, maybe she was initiated and her real badge has yet to show up.
|
This is kind of cool
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...924255416&rd=1 I can't imagine wanting someone else's initiation certificate, but it does have Amy Burnham Onken's signature, and it's also neat to see how little the certificates have changed since the 1920s. |
I'd probably bid on it and send it to central office so they could have it in their archives (since it has amy burnham onken's signature and all!).
|
arrow ring (they have a few sizes) :)

I don't think I've ever seen anything like this. I like the new ones better though. Too bad about the historical part of it. It will most likely be bid up by a collector. :( |
|
cute bracelet! Did anyone see that the pledge pin is up to $40! I'm surprised!
|
i know! didnt the other one go for $51? ugh, im more surprised that this girl is selling her own pledge pin and came right out and admitted it in the listing!!!
|
Look what I just won!!!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MEWN:IT and for only $7.50! :) (They are usually $20-25 if you can find them in the stores, or same + $6 shipping from most online greek stores) wooohooo! (I've been looking for these in a while in my size, but the greek store at school was always out) |
Having checked out the OTHER things purchased by the bidders on the Mother's pin, I bet they are Pi Phis... lots of arrows being bid on and won.... While it is interesting, I like the modern Mother's pin... and yes, I bought one for my mom (heck, with three Pi Phi daughters, if she'd gone to college, our CPP was going to nominate her for AI).
I'm shocked that the pledge pins went for so much. The cost to chapters is less than $10. While I will admit to buying a pin off Ebay, I also did my research and knew what similar pins would go for new... and the seller could tell me enough that I knew it was 60 years old. For those posting the "non official" arrows-- thank you! I collect interesting arrow pins (most officers do) that can be worn on my lab coat, or a jacket.... |
This is really cute:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...925066231&rd=1 As for the non-Pi Phi arrow pins, they had a bunch up a while back, with turquoise on them, that were really nice. If only I had money!! |

Maybe instead of giving the pledge pins to new members, the chapters can sell them on eBay to raise money for Arrowmont and Links to Literacy. |
