Hey, one of my chapter sister's is named Fifi pronounced FeeFee. :) One of the most active involved sisters you could find....

First name is Jennifer because my mom really liked it.
Middle in Catherine because they felt bad giving me a popular name.

You're a poet, and you didn't even know it.

Also, if I need to post my first name for anyone to figure it out, let me know so that you can be nominated for GC's Forrest Gump award.

My full name is Miranda Leigh, which I don't really mind, but my mother saw fit to curse me with the nickname Randi. I don't mind Randi that much, either, but I've never seen something so simple confuse so many people. My checks have Randi on them, because I know if they had Miranda, I'd never remember to sign them with the right name. My driver's license, naturally, has Miranda on it. For some reason, this throws all the people who work at Wal-Mart and Winn-Dixie. I've actually had people ask me if the checks were my Daddy's, and I was just writing them, even though my driver's license number is on the check. I never quite understood how it was such a stretch for people to get "Randi" out of "Miranda."

alphagambaby 03-08-2004 06:02 PM

My first name is Abigail, but most people call me Abby. I don't like my name at all.

The second I saw "Ilse," I thought of Casablanca. Its one of my favorite movies. I don't think that you should shy away from it. Just hang out with a higher class of people who can appreciate you.;)

AlphaGamDiva 03-08-2004 07:51 PM

BrownEyedGirl, you have a beautiful name....ilse anne! that's fabulous! :D

well, my first name is monica (i like these name threads...they are informative)....mom wanted to name me something uncommon back in the glory days of "heather" and "brittany" and "jennifer", etc....which is crazy since she was going to name my sister sarah leah...not sarah LEE, but sarah leAH. my parents "rolleyes".....she ended up being tamara (pronounced tam-uh-ruh...not tam-are-uh or tam-air-uh) jane. we call her "tammy"....yet she finds that "trailor park-esque," so she has all her friends know her by tamara.

growing up when i would have something with my initials on it, ppl would be like, "oh, is your name melissa? no? ok, melanie! no? uh, margaret? you sure it's not melissa??" geez, ppl. LOL and it sucked b/c just when i was finally starting to like my name, the whole lewinsky drama came about. i still like my name, but oy. i've only known 3 other monicas in my life....one is one of my pledge sisters. :) that was a lil extry on bid day, being sisters with another monica!

BSP_Nicole 03-08-2004 08:07 PM

My first name is (big drum roll here...) Nicole (what a surprise). :p
My middle name is Lyn. Little tidbit about my middle name: Of my maternal grandparent's first three granddaughters, the first one's middle name is Lynne, the second one's Lynn, and the third (mine) is Lyn. Also, my mom's middle name is Lyn. And that's my story. :D

Jaclyn

Most people call me Jackie. I tried to go by Jaclyn when I started college, but it didn't catch on. The only people that call me Jaclyn are my old co-workers at the animal hospital.

Thank God!!! I was beginning to think that I was the ONLY ONE that pronounces it that way. It is very rare that anyone ever pronounces it correctly!! Most people, including some members of my extended family, say ON-DREE-UH and it drives me nuts!

APhiRattlerGal 03-09-2004 11:18 PM

iliana, but friends/family call me ili (rhymes w/ silly)

GMUBunny 03-09-2004 11:53 PM

Meghan- the REAL Irish way to spell it. Not Megan or or any of those other ways (I've seen some incredibly complicated spellings). I love my name, but it was better when I was younger because there were no other Meghans (or Megans) in my elementary school, so I felt special. I plan on naming my kids unique names. My fiance and I have already picked Adele Corynn for our girl and Iona Mae if we have another girl (in honor of my grandmother). Our first boy will be Daniel Carey Smith III, and heaven-forbid we have 2 boys, the other will be Nathan Andrew. Whew, I got a lil carried away...oops!

Mary Eliszabeth. My mom wanted to name me Anastacia, and my dad wanted mary. Apparently he chose Rocky if I were to be a boy, so my mom said he could name a girl if he forgot about Rocky. Therefore, daddy won and I am Mary. I hate my name......Mary Quite Contrary, Mary had a little lamb....etc. I get them all, even though I am 26 now, you think it wouldnt annoy me so much.

with a C mind you, not a K.
I'll kick your butt if you spell it with a K. I get very defensive about these things

Allene (pronounced al-EEN. Not aw-LEEN!) But I got so tired of people mispronouncing it so when I started college I started going by Allie.
