If people will keep it in perspective, then carrying meat around on a stick for a week can be a silly yet bonding-filled learning experience that will bring them together in the brotherhood (I guess). It is that . . . along with the beach scene with the push-ups and the wind sprints . . . along with the push-ups on a busy street . . . along with the wearing of attire that is racially insensitive to the person wearing it that lends itself to things getting out of hand . . . which they did or the upstanding group of individually would not have been suspended from their campus. Where is the culturally enriching aspect to what they are doing? Where is the charity work? Where is the mentoring? What can they learn from this display except how to get thrown out of school on their collective arshes? While in the midst of a job search, I watch because these boys (both the ones in school and the alumni that come back to the activities and the house to haze the group) are a big giant group of clowns and I laugh when thinking that this is what they should as opposed to what they should not do. Luckily, I read a few articles about what is going on with the chapter as a result of the behavior of these excited and enthusiastic neos and their wonderful prophytes -- it's not pretty. |
All I know is that the scenes on the beach gave me chills. :(

Janelle's voice aggravates the HECK out of me!!!
They should have had a special meeting for Carmen. She got dissed after all her pledge sisters had built up momentum. I would have been too embarrassed. |
Hey Carmen didn't handle her business. She did nothing but complain from day one. I didn't like her. Should she have been removed prior to tonight's episode? Maybe, maybe not. She brought it on herself.
Just my opinion |
I agree. The girl needed to step off a long time ago. There is nothing but ugliness...inside and out....detracting claws....but really, she would have made a horrible sister.

Carmen deserved what she got and I was amused by the fact that after all of the things that she did and said, she actually thought these girls wanted her to be a part of the group. MTV was right on point with this one . . . make sure we all know what an unenlightened racist she was and then build it up like she is going to get what she wants and then yank it from her in front of all of us. She should have been more embarrassed by the racially insensitive things she said during the process. She didn't think that what she said was wrong and thought that they were picking on her . . . karma is a mutha!! Fraternity Life -- I hope they are kicked off their campus for good. |
Although I was surprised to see the Zeta initiation on TV (and who is to say there weren't other, private ceremonies leading up to it right before hand) what I saw was cute. It's nice that they all "earned" their first set of letters and that they were identical. I don't know the meaning of the green sash, but that was cute, too.
Moving on...Delta Omega Chi needs their very existence wiped off the face of the earth. A South Asian hazer with a brand? WTF is this? Just because you are in a "multicultural" organization (and i ONLY use the term because they use it on their website) doesn't mean you get to co-opt established traditions from other orgs. START YOUR OWN!!!! ARGH! They really do need to be stopped. Ravi, the South Asian Hazer with the brand....could he BE any more furry? I thought he was being attacked by gerbils. I wish the dudes who dropped had actually said "YO, I DON'T HAVE TO BE HAZED TO DO THIS." instead of saying "yeah, like, this isn't for me right now." their interviews didn't match up with their reasons for dropping. the fat gay kid.......he is a simp. he hates himself so much that he allowed himself to be degraded based on his sexual orientation for weeks, just to join this frat! i mean, you can tell in his interviews that he's a neo-sambo: "We betta not do that, y'all, lessin massa gon' tan our hides somethin awful!" Sickening. |

I will have to catch up on all the episodes on one of the marathon weekends. I've missed probably about 3 episodes. I did catch last night's finale and Carmen got exactly what she deserved.
Yes, I do hope that they had a private pinning ceremony. I stopped watching Frat Life after the first episode. Those idiots are dumb as rocks. |

i didn't know he was gay. i thought it was another dude who didn't make it. call me what you will, but when i was watching frat life, i was crunk to see them pulling together and not trying to out-shine jon when running but instead encouraging him. and when i saw them share that snickers bar, i was touched because i knew they cut for each other as brothers. also, there were 2 things that robbie said that i liked: 1) pain is passing but brotherhood is forever and (2) brotherhood is a journey, not a destination. but these orgs need to learn that they are incriminating themselves by having all of this televised. and when will they learn that mtv is all about shedding light on hazing. |

I agree soooo completely with you. Carmen needed her butt whipped, and they should have told her earlier. WHY did Michelle make it? |

I'm glad Sharifa got in though and Janelle too, even though her voice is so irritating. |

I definitely don't think so
I don't think that it is because she is from Rancho Palos Verde. I think that it is because when this girl is speaking and is supposed to be serious (when she moved out of the house and when she asked the sisters to give her some good news), she raised her voice to such a high pitch that it can be considered baby talk. Her tone throughout the rest of the episode was different from that ga-ga-goo-goo she was doing near the end of the episode.

i forgot to post this earlier...
i, too, didn't think carmen should get in because she doesn't know how to deal when things go her way. but it was pretty messed up how they did it. EVERY other girl gets a call with the good news and she's the ONLY one not to make it and got called last. poor child had no one to go through the rejection with.
but i think it's jacked up how they pledge first and THEN they are voted on. |

I know I'm a day late but I am in total agreement with Carmen not getting in. She's needs to learn how to blend in with other humam beings & not being so "ick". I am still very amazed that Michelle got in but, whatever. Great ending....bravo!:)

I wonder if they will do a new season this year. It seems like they didnt get a lot of good publicity for the last season.
