Good game to the Panthers. Y'all's boy Fitzgerald is a stud. Not much else i can say about the game. I was really liking our chances even up till Dustin threw that interception.
Once again, Good Game Pitt, y'all played a great game. How about y'all beat the hell outta Miami this year?
Kitso
KS 361 times i think my Texas teams aren't playing well cuz i'm not instate to root them on :(

It was a damn good game, I was sweatin' at times. Fitzgerald is amazing... he makes our QB look great.

I'd love nothing more than the beat the isht out of Miami, trust me!

Oh my

I've been gone all day and thank Goodness that THE USC went to a 2nd overtime. It's 31-31 now. Go Trojans.

Cal beats USC!!Cal beats USC!! Biggest upset this years so far. (The Texas loss is close)What a game.

Kitso, will miss ya in Neb. Gorilla HomeComing same damn weekend!:( When OTW is in town. Hope all of the Omaha crew keep me posted on the PARTY!

wreckingcrew 09-28-2003 12:30 AM

Tom Earp, this is for you.

During the A&M-Pitt game, the trivia question was about Coach Fran.

They said, "Coach Fran got his start coaching at Pittsburg State (Kan.) College. What is Pittsburg State's nickname?"

i was sittin on the couch and spit Shiner Bock on the carpet as i belted out, The Gorillas! My mom and cousins were like, how the hell did you know that?

I winked and told em i had a buddy in KC that went to PSU

Kitso
KS 361

Kevin 09-28-2003 02:33 AM

One hell of a day.. Crappy time to have alum activities. Missed everything.

Fran apparently hasn't caught on to coaching at A&M.. Slocum was actually doing better.

Cal over USC.. all I can say is holy crap. Didn't see that one coming at all.

Iowa loses as well... Not really a shocker, they just haven't been able to replace that QB from last year.

What the hell happened to ND though? Simply amazing how you can go from a semi-decent team to MAYBE being worthy of a bowl bid from some 3rd rate bowl... Quinn looked alright. I think Holliday's out. It would actually be nice to see the Irish NOT in a BCS bowl. Would truly warm the heart.

And Kitso, as for KU tearing down the goalposts... Give the folks up in Lawerence a break. Last year they were so bad that they gave Baylor their first Big XII conference win ever. So far, KU has beat two decent teams: UNLV and Mizzou. As bad as the Big XII is this year and as good as they're playing, they could have a few more upsets this year.

With all these upsets, I'm kind of worried about OU vs. Iowa State now :D

bethany1982 09-28-2003 12:44 PM

I love all the upsets!

UGAnchora 09-28-2003 01:32 PM

GRRRR....Stupid Vols, won in overtime. Oh well, Just be ready. In 2 weeks Pollack, Greene, and the DAWGS are gonna kick some orange ass.

Not to rub salt in the wounds of the Mizzou GCers on here, but i really enjoyed watching KU win one. Its nice to see teams that have fallen on hard times lately pull out a big win. Rock Chalk baby. Course, i still hope we kick their butts at Kyle later on :D

Ahh! That game was so good...it was so great to see USC being put in its place by an underrated team like Cal. I can assure that Westwood and the Rose Bowl was full of elated Bruins last night, not only of our win over SDSU but because of Cal's victory!

Haha! It was the greatest! I was watching the game with my boyfriend and his friend, who is the biggest USC fan ALTHOUGH he didn't even go to the school and is no way even remotely connected to the school and he was sooo sad! I don't understand fans like this....it's college football...usually most people who are fanatical about a team are alums or students at the school not randoms. I'm sorry but this irks me...especially when he got on me for cheering for CAL saying " you didn't even go there, why are you cheering for them". I told him we have a saying at UCLA "We cheer for UCLA and any team playing USC". I was like, "Okay, pyscho... you are crying for a school's loss and you didn't EVEN go there"

Sorry, as you can tell he kind of irritates me!

This is the biggest argument most Aggies have with fans of the longwhorns. The majority of people who talk smack have never even SNIFFED austin, let alone attended the university.

not that it's a bad thing to have a college you follow, but as far as i'm concerned, if you didn't attend the school that just beat A&M, you have no right to talk smack about it :D

Kitso
KS 361 bandwagon 'sips that jump off the bandwagon every time they lose

Kevin 09-28-2003 06:34 PM

I'll take issue with ya'll that think you have to go to a school to be a fan -- and if you're not, you're bandwagon?

My father, an OU alum started taking me to games back in the 80's (when OU won a couple NC's). I've been a fan since before I knew how to read. I ended up going to a DII school (that's not doing too bad this year either) but am still an avid OU fan (that's Oklahoma University).

In Oklahoma though, the closest thing we have to professional sports (football anyway) would be the Dallas Cowboys.

I've been lucky enough to get tickets to watch the OU-TX game down in Dallas. Plan to totally enjoy as OU pastes the whorns for a 4th year in a row:D

Bandwagoner, I am not.

P.S. -- Kitso, why would Texas ever have bandwagon fans? What the hell have they won recently? A couple of Cotton Bowls, a "shared" as Mack would put it South Division Championship (even though they didn't get to go to the Champ game) and a couple recruiting championships? To have droves of bandwagon fans usually means that a team has had some degree of success...

wreckingcrew 09-28-2003 07:15 PM

I never said that y'all can't be fans.

What i'm saying, is that if (and most likely when) OU or Nebraska beat A&M, any trash or smack that you try to talk (sidenote: ktsnake, i know you personally won't do that, but in general) will be meet with..."oh really? and when did you graduate from OU(or NU)"

I'm a Duke fan when it comes to college basketball. But as someone who never attended Duke i don't feel the right to talk smack to people who attended schools that Duke beat.

Kitso
KS 361 times it'd be easy for me to say, yeah, i'm from Texas, i'll root for the whorn's as long as they're winning

ETA: ktsnake, the whorns bandwagon fans are most often the uneducated people in the state who view them as the recently dominating team in the conference. Also, the older uneducated people who point to Texas' MNC's in the 60's. In the late 80's and 90's when A&M OWNED Texas, there were susbstantially less 'flying uterus' stickers seen on Texas vehicles. Now that we've had a couple down years, they're back in droves.

Hootie 09-28-2003 07:17 PM

Oh come on Kitso! Take it with a grain of salt...;)

Oh, trust me, we were expecting MUCH worse! Only 7 spots down after we lost to an unranked team? Not bad! I'm glad we're still in the Top 10. :) Wanna know who was really rocked by the rankings? IOWA! They went from #9 to #23! YIKES!

efcheerBB 09-28-2003 09:41 PM

Yea for Michigan State. We are now ranked and we knocked Iowa down :)

HotDamnImAPhiMu 09-28-2003 09:50 PM

Kitso, your comment made me think about the NC State goal posts. They kinda had a habit of falling down (heh heh) until someone came up with the clever idea of GREASING THEM.

Not bad, huh? What's that gotta cost 'em, $30 at the most? depending on what they're greasing with? Bwahahaha. How about THAT for a workstudy?

Hate to be a traitor to my own team, but Mizzou isn't good!!! We were 4-0, but the teams we beat were practically community colleges b/c we were so bad last year that that's who we play now. Middle Tennessee St.??? Not exactly Notre Dame....

I drove my ass to KU to cheer for Mizzou and it was a joke. KU forgot to teach their players how to catch, and we forgot to give our Defense a ride to the game.

AXJules, I don't know why...but this totally cracked me up when I read this!:D Let me tell you, I'm right here with you; I love my Bruins but I know this won't be a championship year... with a new amazing coach (I love you Karl!) it will be a "rebuilding year"!

ktsnake...your cheering for OU is understandable because your dad went there. But see my bf's friend didn't even go to college (he is kind of a big loser, honestly) and he was berating me because I was rooting for Cal while he was literally crying for a college team that he will never go to...at least Cal is another University of California (UC) school.

And Hootie...I understand that college football is a religion in Nebraska (my cousin's wife is from there/and went to UNL in the late 80s) so you I understand your Nebraska pride!

AggieSigmaNu361... I have always wanted to ask those fanatical fans "So, when did you graduate from ____?" but have never had enough balls to say it! Ahh, I would love to put them in their place.

I just hate those fans that are all in my face, quizzing me on UCLA football championships vs. USC or on the loserness of my alma mater and these people are in NO WAY connected to USC except that know to get off on Exposition Blvd. on the 110 freeway to get to campus!
Ahh, sorry I hung out with my best friend who goes to USC today and heard even more trash talk....ahh why can't everone know the greatness that is being a UCLA Bruin!:D

wreckingcrew 10-03-2003 05:28 PM

A&M travels to the barren plains of West Texas to take on the Classless Clowns of itt Tech.

Lets hope the stores are out of tortillas, the goal posts are bolted in the ground, and that the more rabid tekkies are passed out by the 9pm kick off.

I'd like to say the good guys win and Fran breaks the curse of SBC, but i think it might be another long night for the Ags.

Kitso
KS 361 yards passing Reggie's gonna have against the TT defense

bethany1982 10-03-2003 06:15 PM

I don't see the problem with people being fans of a school they didn't attend. Who cares why they like the team, as long as they are a fan in the good times as well as the not so good.

MereMere21 10-03-2003 06:16 PM

I dunno Kitso, the Ags might surprise us tomorrow :) they seemed to be holding back against Pitt - but I think thats just me maybe. I know they could do better, I think they have the depth of players this year. Then again, I'm horrible at game predictions :)

I hope Auburn plays well!! WAR DAMN EAGLE! I'm more worried about facing Arkansas on the 11th in Fayetteville.......

MereMere21 10-03-2003 06:21 PM

oh yeah and about going to the school and being a fan ~

I never went to Texas A&M, but I consider myself a fan because hell I grew up there, went to A&M Consolidated High School, and pretty much knew everything there was to know about the school before I moved. I still consider College Station home in many ways.

Auburn - I'm 3rd generation Auburn (even though *eh hem* I failed out after not even one semester before I turn tailed back to Texas) My grandparents went to Auburn, My parents met at Auburn, my aunt and uncle met at Auburn, my cousins currently attend Auburn, My dad's only rule with guys was that I could never date a University of Alabama student/graduate :D

My blood runs orange and blue with a *hint* of maroon.

wreckingcrew 10-04-2003 02:08 AM

I don't have a problem with people being fans of schools they didn't attend. Like i've said before, when it comes to College BB, i'm a Duke fan, for the sole reason that i think Coach K is a great American and a great Coach. So yes, i root for Duke.

My PROBLEM is with people who didn't attend one school talking trash about football games to alumni from other schools. So, when Duke beats UNC, i'll be like, "way to go, Devils", but its not my place to start going up to tarheel alums and telling them that the 'heels suck.

One of my best friends from HS went to UT. When Texas beats A&M, i will take all the shit he gives me. BUT, if you didn't attend the university of Texas, you have no right to tell me that "Aggies Suck" or " 'WE' beat your ass".

If you did not spend time or money at UT, then you have no place dogging me if UT beats A&M.

I'm sorry, that's the way it is. For those of y'all that went to smaller schools, its definately within your right to root for the big school in your state. But i went to a world class university, toughed it out, and graduated. I'm not gonna take shit about A&M football from a texas fan that went to southwest texas, or some school not even in Texas.

Kitso
KS 361 beers i'm gonna toast to MereMere when A&M wins tomorrow night

beth,

i think you're a cool gal. And for the most part, i think you know that i usually agree 100% with what you post here. This is just an issue that i feel strongly about.

My post wasn't meant for you in particular, it was an example of my general response to t.u. trash-talkers.

Who was at the A&M OU where OU squeked it out in the last few minutes of the game in 2000? A&M 31, OU 35 I think? ooooh I was at that game, I've never heard Kyle Field with so many booooo's it was kinda eeerriiie.

well since I have a brother who went to Texas - (took him 6 years, but he did it!), the A&M game with them gets pretty interesting around my house :D

I have a good feeling about the Ags today, I have a feeling my Tech buddies will be calling me crying tee hee (they HAVE been talking s*** all week)

As for my Tigers - oh dear......I wish I may wish I might have the wish I made last night!!!

BTW, that whole talking trash and not even going to the school - Alabama "fans" are notorious for that.......well they were back a few years ago, they might have gotten better but not likely :D

I was at that game. That was my Sr. year in the Corps and i got to lead my outfit in the pre-game March In.

And i'll second that about the Bammers. I heard and rad some pretty disparaging things after the whole Fran-gate incident.

ALSO

Upset of the YEAR in the making, Baylor 42 CU 30, with 4 min left to play.

Kitso
KS 361 times the doormats of the Big XII are on the rise, first Kansas, now Baylor? :D

I watched a little bit of the game and the few minutes I saw the entire time I looked like this  Baylor won big last week too.....I forget who they played, but I think they are undefeated?

I'm watching the Crimson Tide looooose to Georgia hehehe

Alabama 10 Georgia 37
