A few of my friends went Phi Mu and Tri Sigma at other schools. A couple of my friends went AOII too, yay!

EIUSigma 03-27-2006 03:26 PM

three of us are tri-sigmas @ eastern illinois
one AXO @ northwestern
One Theta chi @ Drake
Lamnda chi @ purdue
phi sigma sigma @ illinois state

jojapeach 03-27-2006 03:49 PM

From the Class of '95, I recall:

1 SoRHOr of Sigma Gamma Rho
1 Alpha Phi Alpha
2 Alpha Kappa Alpha
6 Kappa Alpha Psi
1 Omega Psi Phi
1 Phi Beta Sigma

There are quite a few greeks in the Classes of '94 and '96, too. A cute addition is that one of teachers that taught at my HS when I was there still teaches there now, and she became a Sigma through my graduate chapter in '03. :D

Which soror is this? (I'm being nosy).

LXA SE285 03-27-2006 05:01 PM

To the best of my knowledge, not a lot of my class (1985) went Greek; most of those who did joined NPHC GLOs. Off the top of my head, one of our co-valedictorians pledged AKA at Birmingham-Southern, one of our co-salutatorians pledged Delta at Vanderbilt, and a classmate in my senior AP English class went ADPi at Alabama. I also remember a girl who went AKA at Bama and three others who joined Delta there. I was the only one in my core group of friends to go Greek.

Delta Gamma
Delta Zeta
Zeta Tau Alpha

Sigma Sigma Sigma

I'll PM you. The cool thing is that I just sat next to her two weeks ago at our Youth Symposium. Our two chapters co-sponsored the event.

Your box is full!

PoohsHoneyBee 03-29-2006 11:51 AM

Of all my hs friends, a handful went to college. One of my friends is part of an npc org.

Then I know of three who are in latina glos. One of which is a founding mother, at her school in Austin.

AznSAE 03-29-2006 12:05 PM

after looking at the few with myspace accounts from my high school, i dont think any of them went greek. i only know of one person that is also an SAE (the validictorian).

Beatz 03-30-2006 07:24 PM

In my close group of friends, 2 are Beta Theta Pis, one is AEPi, one is Delta Tau Delta, and myself. Another one is in a coed business one, Phi Sigma Pi, as well.

Outside of my group of friends I know a LOT that are Greek.

DC_Zeta1920 03-30-2006 09:04 PM

My linesister graduated from high school with me. Another classmate of my graduating class is a soror.

Of my graduating class (that I know of):

1-Phi Beta Sigma

2-Delta Sigma Theta

1- Alpha Kappa Alpha

1- Kappa Alpha Psi

One of my friends that I've known since Kindergarten is my soror.

Sister Havana 10-10-2008 12:38 AM

Thanks to Facebook, I've found out that several women whom I went to Hebrew school with many years ago went Greek: 1 AEPhi, 1 Gamma Phi Beta, 1 Delta Gamma, and one Pi Phi.

AOEforme 10-10-2008 01:03 AM

In my graduating class:

1. One of my best friends from high school went SAI. (Her younger brother, who I'm also really close with is pledging Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia right now.)

2. Another good friend from my class pledged a local at her school.

3. One girl went KKG

Elephant Walk 10-10-2008 01:11 AM

Did my friends go Greek (yes I realize this threads old as balls)? 1/5th of my high school went greek...and I went to a Public School. My best friends went Sigma Chi, Lambda Chi and Phi Gam as well as a few Sigma Nus and Phi Delts.

DreamfulSpirit 10-10-2008 01:25 AM

My high school graduating class was almost 700! I do know of a couple who did go greek (and there's probably more, I just have no idea since I didn't know too many in my senior class):

-2 Alpha Phi
-2 Gamma Phi Beta
-1 Chi Omega
-1 Delta Sigma Phi
-1 Delta Tau Delta

And I know people graduated after me:

-a few (not sure how many) went Delta Zeta
-Chi Omega

Its been way too long lol....

LucyKKG 10-10-2008 01:40 AM

Well, this is more people I know, not necessarily just my friends. I'm just stoked about how many people I know in random orgs even though CA isn't that big on Greek life.

HS - 1 DG, 1 ZTA, 1 Phi Sig, 1 Alpha Phi, 1 Pi Phi, 1 Theta, 1 Kappa, 1 Tri Delt

Middle school/other places - 1 Alpha Xi Delta, 2 ADPis, 1 KA, 2 AXO, 1 SK, 2 or 3 Kappa Sigmas

APhiAnna 10-10-2008 02:37 AM

All of my best friends went greek if their school had GLOs (I had a friend go to Georgetown, for example, and so obviously he isn't in a fraternity). The girls all went DG, Theta, Gamma Phi Beta or Alpha Phi and my guy friends went SAE, Sigma Chi (almost all of them), Delts, Sigma Nu and Phi Psi.

Georgetown has chapters of Sigma Phi Epsilon and Alpha Epsilon Pi.

At any rate, one more of my high school friends went Greek. She's a Delta via the Washington, DC Alumnae Chapter. In fact, at least two of her line sisters also went to our high school!

Among my extended circle, there are now:

2 Alphas
3 AKAs
1 Kappa
1 Sigma
1 Zeta
1 SGRho
1 Iota
1 Alpha Sigma Phi

BadCat25 10-10-2008 10:13 AM

Of the girls I hung out with in HS only myself and one other (Auburn Alpha Xi Delta) went greek. My BFF was blasted away at UGA rush and has transferred to Georgia Tech. She doesn't have much good to say about UGA.

sjsoffer 10-10-2008 10:45 AM

My high school was small, and pretty anti-greek. Out of the people who went Greek, almost all of them are here at Missouri State with me.
my boyfriend - KA
friend's older brother - KA
me - ASA
girl from classes - DZ
Triangle (at UMR)

violetpretty 10-10-2008 11:10 AM

My class graduated about 170. We are a pretty small school, the kind where you've gone to school with these people since elementary school and everyone knows everyone. So, in my class, we have these Greeks (that I know about--which I'm pretty sure is everyone):

NIC:
Pi Kappa Alpha (Penn State)
Pi Lambda Phi (RPI)
Theta Chi (Bucknell)

NPC:
Alpha Chi Omega (Elon)
Alpha Chi Omega (Maryland)
Alpha Gamma Delta (High Point)
Alpha Omicron Pi (Maryland)
Alpha Omicron Pi (Maryland)
Alpha Xi Delta (CSUN)
Kappa Delta (High Point)
Kappa Delta (High Point)
Kappa Delta (Tennessee)
Phi Sigma Sigma (GWU)
Sigma Kappa (Maryland) me:)
Sigma Kappa (Virginia Tech)
Sigma Sigma Sigma (Marshall)
Zeta Tau Alpha (Radford)

Service:
Alpha Phi Omega (Towson)
Phi Sigma Pi (Maryland)
Phi Sigma Pi (Maryland)
Phi Sigma Pi (Maryland)

ASTalumna06 10-10-2008 11:27 AM

I don't talk to a lot of people that I went to high school with. Most of them I only see on occasion. And of the ones I am friends with on Facebook, I really can't think of any that are Greek. But I have a few friends that I met over the summer during college (at work or through other friends), and I have friends in:

ΣΦΕ

ΚΑΘ

ΠBΦ

ΔΧ

ΑΣT (she was my friend before she joined, but had thought about joining before she met me. I didn’t find that out until I mentioned I was in a sorority, then told her which one, some months after we met)

and my step-brother is a ΠΚΦ

Leslie Anne 10-10-2008 11:36 AM

My best friend since second grade went AEPhi at UCLA. Another friend went Chi O at USC.

Through Facebook I just found out that I grew up with a former DPhiE International President's daughter.

LaneSig 10-10-2008 11:37 AM

In accordance with many small towns, which GLO you joined depended on where you went to school. My friends:

Mizzou: 3-4 joined Pi Kappa Alpha, 4-5 joined Delta Upsilon, 1 Phi Kappa Psi and 1 Phi Delta Theta; 2 girls joined Chi Omega.

My friends who went to Southeast Missouri State joined Delta Chi.

My friends who went to Truman State joined Alpha Kappa Lambda and 2 girls joined Delta Zeta.

My friend who went to Missouri Valley College joined Sigma Nu.

My friend who went to Indiana State joined Sigma Kappa..

My friend who went to Arkansas State joined Zeta Tau Alpha.

My cousin joined Sigma Chi with me.

dekeguy 10-10-2008 12:22 PM

Of my close friends from my US High School (all boys prep) only one did not go Greek. He went to the Seminary to become a Jesuit Priest. We used to kid him that instead of SJ behind his name it should be GDI. Of the rest of our group one went SAE, one Beta, one KA, one Psi Upsilon, and four of us went DEKE (three different chapters).
At my UK school three later joined the 'Popes Society' at Oxford which had a sort of reciprocal arrangement with DEKE. The Duke of Norfolk is its advisor/sponsor. Several others joined 'Apollo' which is a just a bit like Acasia was in its early days. It is incredably selective and is also loaded with Peers and sons of Peers.
My sisters close friends from her all girls school went Pi Phi, KKG, or Theta. I think all of them went Greek but I'll have to check.

ThetaDancer 10-10-2008 12:30 PM

Off the top of my head, I have high school friends who are in: Theta, Pi Phi, Kappa, Tri Delta, SDT, Alpha Phi, Gamma Phi Beta, Chi O, and KD...at schools all over the country.

NinjaPoodle 10-10-2008 12:51 PM

None of my close friends from hs went greek but from my class (approx 350)

1 Sigma Gamma Rho (me)
1 Omega Psi Phi
1 Alpha Kappa Alpha

kappa_dancer 10-11-2008 01:30 AM

I had a friend go SAE at USF and he's the only one I'm 100% positive on. I think one girl joined AKA at UMiami, but I'm not completely sure. And then I'm Kappa, obviously. =]

Not many people from my high school went to universities, so going Greek wasn't a big thing.

cali_gossip 10-11-2008 03:05 AM

I was in show choir and people figured most of us would end up going greek. From what I remember:

Chi O 1(UCLA)
ADPi 1(UCLA)
Alpha Phi 3 (CSUN)(UCI)(Cal Berkeley)
Gamma Phi Beta 1 (Cal Poly)
Tri Delta 3 (Millikin)(CSUN)(Cal Berkeley)
AXiD 2(CSUN)
Kappa 1(UCI)
DZ 2 (Me CSUN :])(CSULB)
KD 2 (UCLA)(SJSU)
Sig Ep 2(CSUN)
AOPi 3(Cal Poly x2)(CSUN)
Theta 1(Cal Poly)

OhSoVeryLadylike 10-11-2008 04:02 AM

I couldn't even start to name

I graduated in a class of 214, I say 150 went to 4 year colleges and at least 100 are members of BGLOS, GLOS, MGLOS, Music Related, Service Related...many hold dual membership, in addition to being masons and eastern stars. Off the top of my head:

We rep:
AKA
DST
Zeta
SGRho
KAPsi
Q Psi Phi
QTPi
U Phi U
Phi Mu
Tri Delta
ZTA
APO
KKPsi
TBS
SAI
PMA
Chi O
A Chi O
Alpha Phi

And on and on.
We plan to a rep your GLO period at our 10 year class reunion next year

Little32 10-11-2008 08:59 AM

Of my close circle, only one other is greek.

She is a Delta, and she crossed alumnae a few months after me.

TriDPrincess 10-11-2008 12:21 PM

Through facebook I found someone I went to high school is a Delta Gamma (Lafayette) and someone is in a local (Delta Delta) at SUNY Buffalo.

Kappamd 10-11-2008 02:09 PM

None of my close friends went Greek. Out of my 800+ graduating class, I know there is a Phi Mu, a Gamma Phi Beta, numerous Alpha Xi Deltas, one ChiO, a few Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonias, a Kappa Kappa Psi, two Sigma Alpha Epsilons, an Alpha Sigma Phi, and an Alpha Epsilon Phi.

Interestingly enough, more and more people from my high school seem to go Greek each year. The class after mine had a lot more, and almost all of my brother's friends, including himself went Greek out of the class of 2008.

From other years:
1 Pi Phi

and i think that's it.

Update!

Out of my "core" group of friends:
1 Pi Kappa Phi (Texas A&M)
1 ZTA (UTEP)
2 Alpha Kappa Psi (UT, UT-San Antonio)

Other people that I was friends/acquiantances with (not necessarily just from HS):

2 local--Sigma Psi Eta (UTEP)
1 DG (Texas Tech)
1 Pi Phi (that i mentioned above--Texas Tech)
1 Kappa Sigma (NMSU)
1 Delta Chi (ASU, i think)
1 Phi Beta Kappa (UT)
1 SAE (Denver University)
1 Pike (UT)
1 Sigma Chi (Oklahoma State)
3 Alpha Xi Delta (UTEP, NMSU)

I think there are others, but I can't remember at the moment

Benzgirl 10-11-2008 03:55 PM

It wasn't real popular at my high school:
3 DGs
1 Pi Phi
1 Tri Delt
1 Teke
1 Alpha Phi Delta
1 Triangle

meangreen1111 10-11-2008 04:11 PM

No, while some went to different schools, none pledged.
