Back on topic... Gamma Phi Beta does indeed have a whistle. I've never used it or know anyone else who has used it outside of ritual, but I think it's pretty cool.

Is it really necessary to be so "sarcastic" to get your point across? I didn't realize that I had come across as so unpleasant that I required a :rolleyes: .

I don't see what the point of being hostile to one another on such a medium as this is where typically we can have decent discussions on Greek Life and get to know about each other's respective orgs. Maybe we should all try and respect one another to gain knowledge as opposed to picking the scab and making it worse. Just a suggestion.:)

Just one question to members of NPHC orgs: I don't mean this to be disrespectful in any way I'm just curious, how often do you use your calls? The reason I'm asking is cuz there's an NPHC sorority on my campus and I don't think I've ever heard them doing their call. Then again they only have about 4-6 members. And they all live together. So it might not be necessary. I have no clue. Any thoughts.

It seems as though some of you take strong opinions and strong words for "hostile." What types of environments do you all dwell in, where people have to walk on eggshells all the time, as to not hurt your feelings?

Depending on the campus, you won't hear NPHCers using their calls ON CAMPUS. But, some use their calls daily, while the rest of us (myself included) don't.

It really just depends on WHY they are using the call and WHERE they are. I hope that makes sense.

I don't ask anyone to walk on eggshells, I'm a high school teacher thus that is not possible for most of the people that I deal with on a daily basis. (ahhhh-teenagers.:) ) It just seemed to me that the rolling eyes thing is kind of hostile. If it was not meant that way I retract the hostility claim.

Thanx for the clarification. :). My sorority has nothing like that really. All we do is get up on top of a chair, table, bar, etc. and shout "K-K-K to the L, L-L-L to the P, K to the L, L to the P, KLP!!!" that usually gets the job done ;)

NO WHERE did ANYONE talk trash about whites. "yada yada yada..." refers to the young man's going on and on about "white man...." when this topic HAD and HAS absolutely NOTHING to do with race.

right...the others who attacked whites? read back up, it was someone white who decided to make it a racial thing. in fact, every time it was brought up, it was by someone who was white. it was the grapist who called chaos an angry black woman.
