Now the talent.
Well Florida rocked. I thought her elephant collection is adorable. California, well, she kind of sucked. I say this as politely as possible, but from a person who has been singing since I was 10, she was really bad at the end. Maryland: I'm liking so far that she is doing a somewhat 'different song'. Plus I'm loving the outfit she is wearing. Wisconsin: already lovin her talent. I'm all for someone who isn't a singer and I mean no offense to singers, but it seems like the contestants are always singers. I just wanna yell 'find a new talent'. LOL. Hawaii: what the hell was up with the middle of her song? What's up with the Mariah ending? Woah. Brianna |
Erika Crowns Ericka
I wonder why sororities don't post member who are in national pageants? I know we are ALL SPECIAL but it would be cool to cheer for a sister! Dumb PR move by not listing, if you ask me.
Congrats to Florida Ericka, but I loved Miss America 2003--a graduate of the most awesome University of Illinois! |
I wonder if Miss New Hampshire ever did work as an import car model?
She strongly emphasized that she loooooves import car shows. Hmmm...? |

That's when they suddenly began emphasizing that they are "scholarship" competitions instead of "beauty" contests. |
I think that it's great Miss Florida won-I don't watch these things but it's fun sometimes to see how people get into this. However, I was reading some of the posts on the Yahoo! message board and some of them are just plain hateful! Why are some people such haters??? You would think that in 2003, some of the rude and inappropriate comments and feelings would be gone, but not so...how very sad...:(

Congrats to the ladies of Delta Sigma Theta and Miss America Ericka Dunlap!!!!! |
Congrats to Miss Florida/Miss America 2004! I'm glad she won. I'm also glad Miss Hawaii made 1st runner up. I loved her high note at the end of "Natural Woman". You know she's been listening to some Mariah. I thought the show was just ok this year. Not that entertaining. Tom Bergeron and that male commentator should never do the show again. I usually like Lynda Lopez but not tonight. Was that viewing party necessary? Was the casual outfit contest necessary? I think not.

Yay for Miss America! I am so excited-- she worked her way from Miss UCF to Miss Florida and now this! Way to go! :) I'm so happy for my alma mater, U of Central Florida--- something we can add to the recruitment brochure! :)
|
congrats to ericka...her proud parents (nice move to have them meet her at the end of the runway) and delta sigma theta.
as per the production, the viewing party was a disaster, the emcee should never do it again, and the male color commentator banished. at least find someone who can sing "the song" and at least give the winner a rose. it was cool that she picked up a flower on the runway. have a wonderful year, ericka. |

First, congratulations to Miss Florida!!!!! She was great and my second pick.
My first pick was Miss Maryland, not just because that's my state, but because I knew her in high school days. I think she did incredibly. I was SOOOOO pruod of her. I, and aparently everyone else in Atlantic City, thought she should have placed WAY higher than 3rd runner up. I was rooting for her and Miss Florida to be the top 2 followed by Hawaii, California and Wisconsin (she messed up playing her cello several times). It's sad about Miss Wisconsin, though. Her dad lost out on his organ because he was at the Miss Wisconsin pageant. Then he died. |

I'm so excited that a UCF student is now Miss America! :)
A couple of my friends who are friends with her went to Atlantic City for the competition (they got tickets through their fraternity alum who run the competition or something). I have to get the scoop from them when they come back. She did great during the competition!! |
Congrats DST! What an AMAZING member you have in Miss Florida!!

Okay, I know this isn't what it looks like, but doesn't it look like she is strangling the winnner???;) |
OK, I know I'm tuning in late but . . .
First off, I have to say that I HATED the quiz. Is that new this year, or have they done it before? I haven't watched Miss America in a few years. You could tell by Miss Hawaii's facial expression that she had no clue what most of the answers were, she was just guessing, yet she ended up doing really well. If anything, don't make it multiple choice, because then somebody with great luck can easily score just as high as somebody who actually knows the anwers. Also, I hated Miss Maryland's clothes in the casual competition. Whoever said that she looked like she was trapped in the 80s -- ditto. I had jeans like that when I was seven. I am not making that up. I loved Florida, Hawaii (I thought she should have won, actually, but Florida was wonderful too), and of course Wisconsin. I liked Miss California until the talent competition, which I think is what did her in (both her choice of song and the fact that she was probably the weakest of the four singers). I liked that Miss Wisconsin's talent was something other than singing. Maryland just rubbed me the wrong way for some reason -- maybe it was those 80s clothes. :D Her clothes during the talent section didn't impress me, and I can't remember her formal or swimsuit but I probably didn't like those either. :) I loved Miss Oklahoma and wish she would have made the top five. I was surprised Wisconsin made it as far as she did -- not that she wasn't awesome, but usually we never even make it to the top 15. Of course, I would have thrown something if she hadn't at least made it to the top ten. How can you not give a girl major points for skipping high school and going straight to college? I liked casual wear -- thought it was cute -- and hated Trista and Ryan's "party." Who cares? |
I have always watched this program to see the bathing suit competition. If they want to get more viewers they should show all fifty bathing suits during the three hours. That would keep us watching the entire show. The talent always suck, none of them could sing, there has only been one Miss America who has ever made a professional singing career and that was Vanessa Williams. That casual modeling segment was really bad.
I missed the beginning, did they announce what school they attended? I also knew she was a Delta the minute I saw the Elephants.I have always thought there has been a good representation of Sorority Women in the contest. I know Debbie Turner and Marjorie Vincent are members of Alpha Kappa Alpha,Erica ( Imitation of Life ) Harold, probably didn't associate with Black greeks at U of I. I thought Miss Virginia would make the final ten. I thought the questions were really easy and the Jeopardy contest was also very basic. |
The right girl won!! Loved Miss Florida :) Miss Maryland should've been done before the top 15. UGH! Anyways, the highlight of the show for me was Clay!! And Miss Oklahoma got totally ripped.
