i saw bruce almighty, which was hysterical. i laughed so hard at one point that i had tears running down my face.

i also saw the matrix reloaded which was not as good as the first and a little boring. can't wait til the third, which will be the best

docetboy 05-26-2003 06:20 PM

I watched Happy Gilmore on HBO...does that count?

Dionysus 05-26-2003 10:39 PM

I saw Bruce Almighty too, it wasn't as good as I expected, however it wasn't bad.

AOX81 05-27-2003 08:02 AM

I saw Bruce Almighty. I loved the part where he made the television anchor say all that stupid shit, lol.

OUlioness01 05-27-2003 08:24 AM

I saw A Mighty Wind and I loved it! I wouldn't reccommend it if you haven't seen either Best In Show or Waiting for Guffman first (preferrably both). You have to understand Christopher Guest to like it.

Everyone in the theater was cracking up at this part.
I couldn't stop laughing! Definitely the best part!

DWAlphaGam 05-27-2003 09:29 AM

I saw Matrix II on Sunday. I thought it was pretty good, but I think I'm going to see it again so I can catch more stuff. I've heard that it's much better the second time around.

Every time they mentioned the Keymaker, I kept thinking of Ghostbusters and expecting Rick Moranis and Sigourney Weaver to show up somewhere. :p

Schmeer 05-27-2003 04:49 PM

I saw The In-Laws and loved the entire time between Brooks and Douglas

swissmiss04 05-27-2003 05:13 PM

I really liked Bruce Almighty. There was a group of 12-14 year olds in the section in front of me that seriously spoiled the experience for me but other than that I liked the movie. Sort of thought provoking. Sometimes getting just what you want isn't the best thing.

lol. I WISH! My friends and I quote Ghostbusters all the time. We're geeks. "Nobody steps on a church in my town!"

The BF and I finally saw A Mighty Wind last night. It was funny though not as hilarious as some of Guest's others. Did anyone else realize that the bass player in the trio is the voice of Principle Skinner on The Simpsons? It took me half hte movie to realize that.

The previews they showed beforehand weren't anything to write home about (so I write to Greek Chat). Pirates of the Caribbean is still at the top of my list.

BTW - has anyone else found these hidden codes for Finding Nemo in the McDonald's commercial? These kids I babysit keep talking about it but I can't see a thing.

Kisha 05-28-2003 01:05 PM

I saw Daddy Daycare and I enjoyed it.

It is a cute family movie although I went with a bunch of adults;)

LeslieAGD 05-31-2003 12:33 PM

I started watching the movie "Rules of Engagement" and I have to say that this is possibly the worst ensemble cast movie I have seen. After 15 minutes, I could tell I was going to hate this movie. I think I actually feel dumber for having watched it. Has anyone seen this and liked it? I hate starting a movie and not finishing it, but I just think I can take any more!

bucutie02 05-31-2003 08:39 PM

I just saw Finding Nemo :)
I have been wanting to see it for a while, and was so excited when it finally came out. It was a cute movie, but I was expecting better.

leslie, unfortunately i watched the entire movie when i rented it. i also felt dumber for watching it! and the few people that i've talked to that have seen it also thought it was horrible...

KillarneyRose 05-31-2003 09:04 PM

We attempted to see Finding Nemo, but the line was out the building so we saw Daddy Daycare instead.

I fast forward through the whole thing, only stopping at the Lauren and Sean parts. As pyscho as he was, I was hoping they'd get together. Argh, an hour of my life that I can never have back!

***

I also saw "A Guy Thing" starring Julia Stiles and Jason Lee. It was okay, but I wish I would have waited til it came on cable.

TigerLilly 05-31-2003 10:56 PM

Has anyone seen Down With Love? I really want to see it (Ewan's hot) ;) but a friend told me I shouldn't waste my money on it...any other opinions?

VSUPhiMu 06-01-2003 11:45 AM

I saw two: The Italian Job and Anger Management. We got a new theatre in Valdosta, so I went twice. The Italian Job is so good...the best I've seen in awhile, and Anger Management is hilarious. I recommend both!

SilverTurtle 06-01-2003 12:37 PM

I saw Finding Nemo in the theater last night. Definately recommend it- I posted more in the Finding Nemo thread.

I also saw 3 films on DVD this week. (Yea- I'm really into movies).

Casualties of War this is Vietnam War movie by DePalma tha came out in the 1980's. A totally disturbing film. I liked it except for the end. But it is seriously messed up & I don't think I can ever like Sean Penn again, even though he was just acting.

Maxthis is a fairly recent film starring John Cusack :)
He plays a German Jew who comes back from WWI missing the arm he painted with. So now he's an art dealer. He meets a young aspiring artist still in the army after WWI named Adolf Hitler. It's all about their relationship & you see Hitler being torn between art or politics so there's a big "what if" going on the whole time. Although I'm sure there were some liberties taken. Unfortunately I thought the ending was entirelty predictable, but I really liked it anyway.

Y Tu Mama Tambien everyone who saw this Mexican film raved about it. All the reviewers loved it. Let me tell you- it's nothing special. It's just in Spanish. Although there are a lot of fully nude shots of guys, which is different. It's one of those "coming of age films" about teenage boys. Which means, sex, drugs & something that changes them from boy to man. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great, either.

And that's my movie review this week :D

bruinaphi 06-01-2003 12:46 PM

I also saw three movies this weekend:

El Crimen de Padre Amaro this Mexican movie stars the same young man who is in Y Tu Mama Tambien. I think both movies are absolutely fab.

Bend it Like Beckham is a British film about a young Indian girl living in London who wants to play professional soccer while her parents want her to be a "good traditional Indian woman." I loved it.

Full Frontal is a Hollywood wanna be art film. It is a serious waste of time, but I watched the whole thing b/c I am trying to finish the blanket I'm making for my sister's graduation.

ThetaGirl1997 06-01-2003 06:31 PM

I saw "Wrong Turn" last night. It wasn't awful, but definetely not worth the $8 I paid to see it. I must add though, the leading guy (not Jeremy Sisto - the other guy) is quite nice to look at!!!

DolphinChicaDDD 06-01-2003 09:08 PM

FINDING NEMO!!!!

I think everyone should see it!!! I'm going to see it again sometime this week.

Peaches-n-Cream 06-01-2003 09:20 PM

I just saw Harry Potter on HBO. That boy is so cute. :)

docetboy 06-01-2003 10:58 PM

I just saw Bruce Almighty - I tell you, that is a HILARIOUS movie...

sugar and spice 06-01-2003 10:59 PM

I finally saw Bend It Like Beckham. It was really, really good.

ZTAngel 06-01-2003 11:00 PM

I just came back from seeing Bruce Almighty. It was good but I thought it was going to be a lot funnier than it turned out to be. I really want to see Finding Nemo after reading everyone's wonderful reviews of it on here.

I saw it. It was cute but not worth paying $7 to see it in the theater. Wait until it goes on video.

AOX81 06-02-2003 09:48 AM

I watched Fast and the Furious again. :)

aephi alum 06-02-2003 09:51 AM

I finally saw Matrix: Reloaded :D (My husband was in Europe when it came out, and he made me wait)

texas*princess 06-02-2003 10:15 AM

I went to the Movie Tavern this weekend... (for those of you who don't know what that is, it is basically a movie theater that you can order real food like pizza, and beer/wine in addition to the traditional movie favorite snacks & drinks)

I wanted a pizza and Dr. Pepper to go along with my movie experience (the pizzas are good!) and my boyfriend & his friend wanted to see "Wrong Turn".

Ordering a pizza and watching that movie at the same time was a mistake. I couldn't eat the pizza, and the movie made me ill. :(

They just had too many gruesome shots in that movie :o

Eirene_DGP 06-02-2003 10:26 AM

I saw the Italian Job. It was great...If you haven't seen it go see it ASAP.

Schmeer 06-02-2003 12:09 PM

I saw Finding Nemo...it rocked. 4 out of 4 starts. Definatley recommend it to anyone and everyone.

AOX81 06-09-2003 12:25 PM

I watched Clockstoppers, Blast From the Past, Legally Blonde, and parts of Hackers and Antitrust yesterday.

ladybug1116 06-09-2003 01:49 PM

Saw Bruce Almighty on Saturday night.

LeslieAGD 06-13-2003 10:59 PM

I just saw a movie on cable called "New Best Friend." It was very interesting, but completely f*cked up!!!

RubberSoul 06-13-2003 11:34 PM

I took Paige to see Finding Nemo......I thought the animation was fabulous and the story was really cute----although Ellen Degeneres drives me nuts so having to listen to her annoying voice on an annoying character ALMOST ruined it for me.

mu_agd 06-14-2003 10:55 PM

I saw The Italian Job tonight. It was so good, plus Mark Wahlberg was looking quite nice!:D

EagleChick19 06-14-2003 11:28 PM

I saw Hollywood Homicide. It was a funny buddy movie.

Don't waste your money. I thought it was annoying, it had a very thin plot, and did I mention it was annoying? Ahh.

Jaggergirl 06-16-2003 09:49 AM

I went to see Two Towers at a second run theatre. This place is a drafthouse too so you can get pizza and pitchers of beer while you watch the movie.

Two Towers was good though I did have to have some of it explained to me since I've never read the book. But it certainly did make my appreciation of Orlando Bloom flare up again. Can't wait to see him in Pirates of the Caribbean. He looks so much better without that blonde wig!
