Anyway, did anyone see that hideous Wings-Blues game? I swear Brent Hull makes me sick. He was scoring half of the points. It is teams like the Redwings who make hockey almost unwatchable. I'm always glad when they have to play the Avalanche(my team) because usually they put them in their place.

I know - that's who Burnaby Joe is - he is from my neck of the woods - Burnaby BC (right next door to Vancouver) and all the locals call him Burnaby Joe - if fact he scored his 500th goal at a Canuck game and got an awesome round of applause and standing O from his hometown people :)

huh? gimme a break, enough of this queery crap...let's keep this proper-oldschool-don cherry-trashtalking.

p.s. if any of you ladies wanna get in on the same bet that Can. Teke and I got going, you're more than welcome. Nothing's hotter than some chicks willing to put it on the line for their team ;)

Any takers - put your money where your mouth is...

Voila, the bet. I'm not a big poster on this board so it won't make much difference to me. Plus, even though I love hockey, bragging rights don't mean much to me.

Me thinks you boys might be on your own :D

I would like to say regrdless of my intoxication level (which is high) that the Toronto Maple Leafs are gonna win everything. You all know it, don't fight it, the Leafs rule and everyone else drools!!

wth, joe is the only reason i started watching hockey back in 1993. . .
well, i went to a quebec nordique game with some friends and joe took his helmet off to fight someone. . .i like violence. . .

why don't you stay out of my posts? i wasn't talking to you anyway.

i'll admit it, the leafs are looking solid and don't want to meet them in the playoffs. If they can get past philly and a typical slow playoff start, they could be deadly.

HELL NO!
I'm just giving credit to where it's due, that t.o.-philly matchup will be awesome...some teams are really tearing it up down the stretch, and they're (philly) one of them. T.B.'s looking solid too, so i'm hoping nj has a traditional playoff slump and goes out in the first round...thereby, leaving ottawa with the easiest road to the east finals.

CanadianTeke 04-03-2003 02:07 PM

This is shaping up to be one of the better playoff runs---there is hardly a team going in that doesn't look solid. I see alot of 7 game series'.

the second round should be a lot more interesting, i don't see any upsets (especially in the west), but you never know. I was worried when i saw big chara throw 'em with oliwa. Christ, Martin, he's the second best defenceman in the league, don't let him get injured!

CanadianTeke 04-03-2003 02:15 PM

When i saw chara holding his wrist as he went to the bench i thought for sure he had broken it. That would have been a major loss to the senz. i hope T.O. and Ott meet up in the eastern conference finals, guarenteeing a Canadian Team in the cup finals.

yeah, they still have great defence without chara, but he is their best player....good game on tonight, just a tie and we clinch the prez cup.

also, did anyone hear the good news? The world cup (former canada cup) is coming back in 04, hasn't been around since '96 when the states beat us in the final game in montreal.
More european cities will host some games, with the final being only one game (instead of a best of 3) to be played in t.o.

European Pool
Czech Republic
Finland
Germany
Sweden

North American Pool
Canada
Russia
Slovakia
United States

I saw that this morning on Sportsdesk. The best part of it is NO SHOOTOUTS!!!!!! It will all be settled by sudden death overtimes.

Yeah, pretty good match ups...but I think Toronto is going down to Philly. My pre-playoff prediction is Detroit and New Jersey in the finals...although this may change after I see the first couple of games.

I don't know about that Ottawa is strong, T.O. is strong, NJ is strong, in all honesty i can't put coin on the games yet--everybody is strong! i think Col-OTT finaL!

Well, that's why it's an early prediction. Hey, I was rooting for Carolina on the East last year just because they were the underdog and they made it all the way to the Finals! Ottawa is strong now, but I don't see them making it all the way to the Finals.

CC1GC 04-07-2003 02:12 PM

If Ottawa can avoid toronto, they should take the east...their style is succesful vs philly & nj.
They should shutout the isles, all the stats are in their favour - one more so than anyother - a 21-2-7 record vs the isles in their last 30 games.
The west is a lot less predictable...but my tentative prediction is dal-colorado in the final.

Actually I hope that Ottawa and TO meet up again... with the usual response..... one of the guys in the house is a die hard Sens fan.... he will walk around in a Sens hat and jersey everytime they play the Leafs.... god he even does this at some of the local watering holes (like the Brunny).... I hate to say it but I love to see him crying in his beer :)

I Live in Ottawa and i walk around with my Leafs Jersey and Hat all the time---Especially in the playoffs---There is no better feeling then walking down Elgin street after Game 7 when the Leafs have taken the series, covered in the Blue and White.

yeah, well i work on elgin...but i won't bother bringing a carton of eggs this year because the leafs are going nowhere. Yes, that is correct, out in the first round and unabrow quinn will be out begging on younge street.

First of all it's YONGE street, not YOUNGE street.

Secondly, I'm pretty sure the Leafs won tonight. And....doggonit, I can't remember how the Sens did tonight. Can you remind me???

I'd send my condolences but I'm too busy celebrating down here.... :D

One win, or loss, this early in the game does not a playoff champion make.

I'm sure someone will send the Leafs a postcard from the Cup Finals

Hey! You should be on my side! If for no other reason than we share the same first name! We Leslies have to stick together!

Besides, the Leafs ARE going to win.

Hey, come playoff time, I only stick with die-hard Wings fans. ;)
Wings are going to repeat; Leafs will have to deal with another disappointemnt...it's something their good at.
