To anyone who wants to take this to heart,

Let me lay this out for ANYONE who is confused or has doubts about why questions are being asked of them. There are Sorors on this board who can READILY ... I'm talking about picking up a phone and finding out if a particular chapter had intake this semester... find out if they wanted to whether you're telling the truth about where & when you crossed, especially if you're coming through with shady information or questionable wording. So, if you're a card carrying, membership number having Soror who's name is on the roster at 1707 New Hampshire Ave, NW, Washington DC. AND is in possession of a certificate, affixed with an OFFICIAL seal that reads "duly initiated member" then I'm not talking to you. ;)

It's been said many times in the past that six degrees of separation is real. In Delta, the degrees drop down to about 2 or 3. Just a word to the wise.

The reason for my responses are due to the fact that the probate show was our official introduction to the campus and to the general public. So in a public forum like this one, I did not believe that I was excepted to give the date of initiation (to the question of crossing date) because of the exclusive nature of that ceremony. I was under the impression that it's not discussed. It could just be my naivity. But I'm always open and eager to learn new things, and I recognized that as a baby in this glorious organization there is much for me to learn. Hope you don't mind having a hand in raising this one. :)

QUESTION: To all of my SORORS, what date have you shared with us -- the date of your initiation or the date of your probate show? Which date is on your jacket? shirt? etc? When people ask you what day you BECAME a Delta, what date do you share? What date is on your MEMBERSHIP certificate?

The ceremony is private but no one has asked you to share the details of that ceremony, just the day you were born into Delta.

When you have to come back and explain yourself more than once, you cause (unnecessary) suspicion. if you had doubts, all you had to do was ASK BEFORE you posted.

Help me Lord!! Help Me!!

Actually Soror, it is good that you learned this here. If you go to Atlanta for convention or anywhere else and say May 10th, the reaction will probably be more than you can handle. So as a piece of sisterly advice please do not put that date on any para.

By the way, many sorors display their membership certificates on their walls at home, in their offices, etc. There is nothing secret about it or the date on it.

MY NEOS

I take great pride in recognizing that Nu Epsilon City-Wide Chapter, which consisted of ONE member, brought in nine DevaSTating women into our illustrious sisterhood. I'm proud of my NEOS:

For those who wanted to know where I've been, now you know! And congratulations to all of the other new initiates of Delta. Lastly, I can't forget the sorors who actually brought the young ladies into our sisterhood. Having a line is NOT EASY! It takes a lot of time, dedication, patience, need I go on...these things prove that we are definitely Delta Women!

God's speed!

Kim is being modest here. What she didn't say was that she is the advisor to Theta Alpha at Northwestern University and was selected Advisor of the Year at the 2001 Midwest Regional Conference. She is a Dynamic Delta who holds a very special place in my heart. :D :D :D

Welcome Soror, We have a lot in common it appears.

I was the #4 and the tail of my line, SYNERGY, born into Delta on April 5, 1997 at 4:14p.m. :D

Quiet is kept...

I know of many Sorors who share their probate date rather than their initiation date, as does my chapter, because we're not really off-line until then. Some chapters find that XX days isn't enough time to effectively set the foundation through which a committed Delta can be born into the Sorority. We "weren't done" as of the initiation date, so we claim our probate date/time as the moment of true birth and recognition into the sisterhood. My line celebrates our anniversaries on that date. I acknowledge that it's not "appropriate", but that's the date we felt we were made.
