I only buy one dangle for each office. I already have like 10 dangles because I held lots of offices and was a panhellenic officer and rho chi, plus GPA pearl. I only have 5 of the dangles on there, just 'cause I haven't added the others yet, but I just put them so that the longer ones are in the middle and the pearl is closest to the guard. I just think it looks better that way.

I just wanted to say that personally I love Tri-delts pin, that is after my own Sig Kap one. I really like our pledge pin also, although I must admit I though it was a little funny looking when I first pledged. I also really like Alpha Phi's pledge pin.
Also I wanted to mention that the Sigma Kappa pins that are unjeweled and don't have a scroll are actually our alumni pins. |
Prettiness!
I like Alpha Phi and ADPi's badge the best. I just think they're really really pretty, and I'm a fan of the diamond shape ADPi's is in.....:D
|
I'm not about to say which badge I think is prettiest. They're all beautiful. On the other hand, I think I appreciate the ones with symbols much more than the ones that consist of only stacked letters. I like the idea that somebody had to really put some thought into them.
|
I think all the badges are pretty, but I love the ones for Chi Omega, Zeta Tau Alpha, Alpha Sigma Alpha, Alpha Chi Omega and Phi Sigma Sigma. Being and artist and having made jewelery before, I understand how much skill is put into every badge. They're all amazing!

Our badge is one reason why I liked Delta Zeta thoughout recruitment! Im just partial i gues.. . . The dangles off of your chapter guard is something that my chapter does. Plus it is great converstaion during recruitment. If a sister has a 4.0 GPA for the semester, the chapter buys them a gold pearl, and if a sister had a 3.0 GPA or higher she buys a regular pearl. I have heard that we have the most symbolic badge.... but I honestly think that everyones badge is symbolic especially to you as a person.
Another thing.... We are the only sorority where all of our badges are the same. ( I think) They are ALL yellow gold and look just the same. The only option you get is if you want cz or a diamond and if you want Gold Plated, 10k or 14k. It is also required by our chapter that we have guards so that we are all uniform with our badges...... I love Lambda Chi Alpha's badge and Kappa Sigma badge....... |
i love our little phi sig badge because it IS original. but it definetly is not going to win any awards for being incredibly gorgeous... that sphinx really does look like george washington. what are you gonna do though, i doubt nationals will ever change that. i'm glad there are people out there who can appreciate how different it is!
i think the prettiest badge is the alpha chi omega lyre, and i really like their pledge pin too, for some reason. i was so jealous when my friend pledged a chi o at my school and wore her pins around (cause a chi o wears them both at the same time, right? thats how her chapter did it at least). i'm also a fan of delta gamma. so pretty. |
Well the Sigma Nu Badge is DEFINITELY my favorite design. I may be partial, but that's the way it is.
http://www.mastersofdesign.com/image...t/img1-724.jpg One badge that I really think is impressive though (if you get a jewelled version) is the Alpha Tau Omega badge. Here's a really good looking version of it. http://www.mastersofdesign.com/image...t/img1-307.jpg |
It seems to me that the Women's badges are alot less ornate? The men's ones just look more detailed. Does anyone else think this and does anyone know why?
|
I'm going to cheat and vote for my own....Sigma Alpha Iota! :) Our badge is really beautiful! Are any of you familiar with it?

One advantage of this is that we always have our badges for initiation, so you don't give your pin to your little and spend the next 6 months worrying that she'll lose it :) |
pretty badge
Actually Alpha Chi Omeg's badge is in the Smithsonian Musesum....for being so beautiful. I'm not an Alpha Chi, but my friend is. I think SK's (sigma kappa) badge is pretty

I think some writers of pledge manuals are trying to instill respect and awe in the impressionable minds of the new members! hehe:D |
And our sorority likes to say how at one of the early 1900s world's fairs, our badge was voted the most beautiful ... I guess they must have had a lot of badge competitions back in the old days!

Smithsonian

I have heard the Smithsonian urban legend almost as much as the badge on the moon one. |
My friend (who happens to be an AXO also) works at the Simthsonian-I will ask her if they once had a display of GLO badges and if there are curretnly any still there.

I think Tri-Delta's is very pretty but that may be just because it is different than the others.
|
This was such a cool thread... Anyone else have photos of their badges?

If I can't choose my own, I've always liked KKG and PiPhi. I also think overall a lot of the older versions are prettier than the standardized ones most groups are limited to today. I love some of the older ones with the opals :). If you want to look at some of the historic AOII badges I've collected over the years click here. |

I'm envious of NPC orgs that have provisions in their constitution that allow for jeweled badges...I love that!! I wish we could do that. I'd love to put amethysts on mine!! I think the NPC badges I like the most are Phi Sigma Sigma and Zeta Tau Alpha...but I'll always be partial to my Skull and Crossbones! |
Wouldn't y'all think that EVERYONE thinks that their pin or badge is the nicest? I truly would hope that's so, anyhow! honeychile |
sairose, I was just initiated into SAI last friday and got to wear my guiding star's pin (our pins haven't come in yet!)
Here's a picture I found of the Sigma Alpha Iota (women's music fraternity) badge: http://www.sai-national.org/resource/badgeSAI.gif It's kinda small, and is drawing, not an actual photograph, but you can see the pan pipes, surrounded by the greek letters Sigma Alpha Iota and pearls. I think the SAI badge is really pretty, and the Kappa Alpha Theta badge as well, of course. As for GLO's I'm not in, I really like the Pi Phi arrow badge, very unique! Sarah |
This is a great topic, when I was going through recuitment I loved seeing all of the different badges (I am a jewlery/fashion design major) I am a DZ, so of course I love my own ( I get it on Sunday!!) but other than mine I love the Phi Mu one, one of the girls I live with is a Phi Mu and I think is beautiful, and for boys I think the Sigma Nu badge and pledge pin are also beautiful.

Yup . . . that's why you're not supposed to answer your own organization's pin. :D I love the Tri Delta pin, but I'm also partial to Kappa Kappa Gamma's, Delta Zeta's, Delta Gamma's, and Sigma Delta Tau's. I like symbol pins more than the letter pins too. |
I love the Zeta badge.. for fraternities I love Sig Ep's and Kappa Sigma's
|
Besides the beauty of the X and the horseshoe...:D
I have always liked the Kappa Key (and used to admire my mom's) and I really like DG, too - so different looking. |
Next to the Arrow, I quite like Kappa Kappa Gamma's and Delta Gamma's. But the the Arrow will always be the prettiest badge...to me of course :)
|
Next to my own, of course... I love Tri-Delt's, ZTA's, and Alpha Xi's. :)
|
A personal favorite http://www.hjgreek.com/index.cfm?eve...roduct_ID=9996 and
http://www.hjgreek.com/index.cfm?eve...ategory_ID=268 (They have all the Branches of service with our Badge in the same style). |
I think that white gold/diamond Sigma Chi badge is awesome! :)

I think I also like the ones with enamel symbols rather than the stacked ones... some of the stacked ones just look kind of thick and heavy. I can't imagine trying to wear one... For NPC orgs, I think Gamma Phi Beta is pretty interesting; I've always been intrigued by the crescent and by the hebrew-looking letters. Alpha Chi Omega's lyre and the Zeta Tau Alpha shield also stand out, looking at the NPC poster. For the NIC guys... (why can't they list the names so I can tell whose is whose!?!) I've always liked Sigma Chi. From the poster, next to last on the top, there's a whitish shield with sword. Phi Delta Theta, maybe? It's between Lambda Chi Alpha and Phi Kappa Psi. That and Sigma Tau Gamma are pretty neat. For the Divine Nine, I'd have to go with Alpha Kappa Alpha for the ladies (love that Ivy Leaf!) and either Omega Psi Phi or Kappa Alpha Psi for the guys. There were two local pins I saw on ebay, though, that stuck with me this past week: Kappa Phi Gamma 1955 and Psi Omega Dental Fraternity The first is cool because it's sort of an S-curve. The second has the most *beautiful* opals I've seen in a while. Check them out! [Snarky comment-- can't these ebay people do a google search to find out what organization the pin might be from? Sheesh! Okay, it doesn't work for the above pin from Kappa Phi Gamma, an apparent local whose letters are now being used by an Asian-interest sorority, but you'd think people might at least *try* to check...] |
For NPC, besides Pi Phi's gorgeous arrow, I really like Alpha Chi Omega and Phi Mu.
For NIC, I'm fond of Kappa Sigma, Sigma Nu, and Phi Delta Theta. For the Divine Nine, I like Alpha Kappa Alpha and Sigma Gamma Rho. |

Okay, I understand! If I can't have my diamond http://www.alphadeltapi.org/images/badge.gif then I, too, like the symbol ones, such as Kappa Kappa Gamma & Pi Beta Phi. I don't think I could wear a badge with a skull and crossbones on it (big baby!), which seems to limit the fraternity pins. The above Sigma Chi pin is gorgeous, and if I remember the Delta Tau Delta pin correctly, it was very nice, too. honeychile |
I have seen many Badges on ebay and all are unique in each way. I have a Opal LXA Badge which is very unique!
One of the most Beautifail Badges was a KS Badge that was all opals! I have a TKN with 7 diamonds and 6 pearls which while very simple is gorgeous in its simplicity! APO which I paid out the nose for as a member along with the TKN, never had one of either and is fantastic as had never seen one like it before and is not offered on APO Site. Other Listings: SN, STG, SX, Hell, if I do not list all I am A Putch! What can I say about the Soroity Badges, they are all neato!!!! I aint stupid to just pick a few! Da!:D |
Well, other than Kappa's, which really is my favorite, I have to say I love Alpha Xi's and AOPi's pins. Pi Phi's is also interesting. I like Alpha Phi's new member pin the best.
For the fratenities, I really like Delta Tau Delta's badge. |
