I know this is supposed to be a thread about white dresses, but would you ladies mind giving me your opinion on a dress? My daughter got this for a high school formal and I was hoping we could get another wearing out of it. Is it too much for pref night? It's a Big 12 school if that matters any. Thanks!

I didn't go to a big 12 school, but my opinion would be that it would need a little sweater (like a black bolero sweater or shrug maybe?) and only if it's a little bit longer on her. It should hit somewhere around the knee or lower. It's a very cute dress. :)

I was at Ross Dress for Less over the weekend and saw a Mom and teenage daughter heading toward checkout. I first noticed the shoes and I wondered, then saw the white dress. Then I noticed the daughter was wearing an AOII t-shirt and kind of chuckled to myself. So I guess you can buy white dresses right now at Ross.

I found a great short sleeved white pique shift at SteinMart last summer for Convention and paid around $50. Best part is that it's a dress I would wear in public. Only $50.

How do you know if you will need a white dress?

Hey y'all! So I found this dress and I adore it, but it would be for initiation and I was wondering if this counts as having your shoulders covered? Technically they're covered, but it's lace so I wasn't sure. Any input would be much appreciated!

Any suggestions for plus size white dresses? I struck out at Old Navy, Avenue, Lane Bryant and Sears.

I got lucky a few years back with a white polo dress from Lands End. Not sure if they are carrying those this year though.

She wore it and received several compliments...one of her future sisters later told her, "when you walked in wearing that dress, I thought you looked soooo pretty!" Well, it's $50 now...$100 less than I paid. *sigh*

Even though it's not white, I would highly recommend this dress (for deferred recruitment). The fabric is a luxuriously heavy knit, and it drapes beautifully. There are little WHBM silver studs on the back of the cuffs. Very nice dress for the price.

I saw a whole ton of white, appropriate dresses at TJ Maxx today. I know that their selection depends on the store but for someone who's searched and had no luck it might not be a bad place to go.

my local JCP had at least 3 dozen yesterday. Several had been reduced to $24.

I've been seeing a ton of cute white dresses on Zulily the last several weeks. (It's one of the daily deal sites.) They won't necessarily be super high quality, but they also won't usually be more than $30 or so, and I've gotten several cute and cheap dresses there this summer. PNMs, be careful though, they have a lot of overly casual white dresses, too.

I found a cute white dress at Deb on the clearance rack! Bought it for just under $20 with tax. Deb is big on dresses, from casual to prom. They carry plus sizes as well. Check them out if you are looking for any kind of dress.

I'm sure it's already been mentioned since it's so popular, but I just had to buy a new white dress because I left mine out at school and needed it for convention (oops). Delia's had a bunch!!

Very pleased that I switched white dresses just before leaving for convention. Sister next to me in the Flag procession had the same as the first dress I bought, but that lead to a delightful conversation. I also saw that same dress on two other sisters that morning. Got my second one at JCP and see they have additional off clearance this week end. Heading there Sat to pick up a white dress for D in case she needs one this fall.

I am SO aggravated! Found THE perfect white Lilly dress for BG at 6pm.com. They had ONE in her size, I grabbed it! It came in. We opened it. Wrong dress, wrong size. Of course, now they don't have the one I ordered anymore. Bah humbug.
