Oh that's so wonderful! Congratulations!
|
HOORAY!!! i am so glad that you gave them a second look. my freshman dorm next door neighbor, who became a very good friend of mine, joined alpha gam and i got to know a lot of her sisters. fabulous women, each and every one!!
|
We say over and over that once recruitment is over the tent talk and negative gossip goes (almost completely) away, and to just chill about that house that EVERYONE HATES because in fact that's simply not how it is.
I'm glad you were able to take a breather, reassess your priorities and find a great home! Hopefully Pink Palm Tree will have her happy ending as well. |
I am so happy to hear of your happy ending! I always had a soft spot for AGD as many of my friends in college were AGD's!
Congrats to you! |
This is great! I hope you'll enjoy your new home.
|
What wonderful news! I am so happy for you.
________ |
This kind of news makes me so happy because some chapters just do not shine during formal recruitment, for whatever reason, but they truly hit their stride during COB. So many times I wish that girls would give those chapters a second chance because you just never know how a group of girls may seem so different at second glance. I am so glad that you found your home at Alpha Gam, best of luck to you during your new member process and keep us updated! Enjoy!
|
I completely agree with psusue. I'm glad that you got a chance to get to know these girls in a different setting. It can change everything.
Congrats on AGD!!!! |
This is fantastic news!!! I know a few AGDs at FSU and they are so funny, sweet and genuine!! CONGRATS IM SO HAPPY FOR U!!!
|
Just think what might have happened if she had gone to their pref party in the first place!
|
whose to say? what matters is that she DID give them another chance(and they her) and it worked this time!!

Ok, I don't even know you and I'm so proud of you for not giving up, continuing to work through the lengthy process, and finding a home.
I hope Pink Palm Tree gives your chapter another look if that is possible (and vice versa). From what someone wrote about her on the other thread, it sounds like she could be a great asset to your chapter. Congratulations! :) |
Thanks everyone!! I'm still so excited I was up late looking at all the Alpha Gam stuff I can order haha
I hope that other girls who read my story learn what I have; that if they truly open their minds and hearts, stay determined and persistent, and know that they can find their home and happy ending, they can succeed Just like Winston Churchill said "never never never give up" :) Thanks for all your support, advice, encouragement, and kind words through my adventure. I'll definitely keep you all posted! |
Welcome to Alpha Gamma Delta!
I attended an Alpha Gam training session at the Gamma Beta Chapter house a few years ago and had a great time but I don't know if I would ever get used to sleeping on the porch;) Have a wonderful time getting to know the other New Members and the GB sisters! |

Congratulations to you, pnm at fsu and to jennifer! |
I completely missed this last week while being overwhelmed with two teenagers, grad school and work!
A warm welcome to you and Jennifer to Alpha Gamma Delta! I'm glad that you were able to keep an open mind and not give up :) |
We had an alumnae event/Stella and Dot fundraiser for the GTau house Friday night.
One of the sweetest alumnae that was involved when I was in school was there. I never could remember where she went to school. Turns out she went to FSU!! I was happy to tell her about how Gamma Beta is doing :D |
Bumping a good thread with twists, turns, and a happy ending!
|
Hi everyone!! I just wanted to bump my thread up since so many recruitment seasons are coming up, have past, and are going on presently.
To all the girls who have found their homes, CONGRATULATIONS! To those who have not, I hope you keep trying. Read my ridiculously long adventure; hopefully it will inspire you to carry on if you know that greek life is for you! :) Update for those who are interested: I am LOVING life as a sister. FSU just had our largest recruitment ever and it was so much fun!! 1515 girls signed up and I wanted to talk to all of them! My chapter was the most successful we have ever been as we doubled our chapter with a quota plus (including the new upperclassmen quota) to add 84 new members :). We had 83 sisters, and now we have over 160!!!! It's absolutely amazing and made me appreciate my school, my sisters, my life, my panhellenic sisters, and everyone in between just so much more Hope all is well, and like I said before NEVER GIVE UP PH <3 |
And THIS is why a girl should take a chance at that chapter at a competitive school. In a year, nobody is gong to know that your house used to be the small one. Congratulations on the very hard work it took to accomplish this.
|
I remember reading your story as you posted. I'm so happy your chapter is doing well!! Enjoy your lovely new members :)
|
How fabulous!! congratulations to you, your chapter and all those new sisters!
|
YAY!! I love hearing about AGD chapters doing so well ... congratulations to you and your sisters for an amazingly successful recruitment!
|
Thanks so much for the update. I am so happy for you! Sounds like Alpha Gamma Delta had an outstanding recruitment.

I am always glad to read an FSU thread! And happy to hear that AGD has such a terrific pledge class!

Congratulations to PNM at FSU! I'm happy that you found a home. I just found this board this year, as my daughter started FSU. She decided against going through Recruitment at this time -- wanted to get settled into college life. Her very good friends' experiences with recruitment sounded just like yours back in 2010. One dropped out on Saturday, as she was disgusted with the whole process; got a call later and was offered a bid; decided she did like that group and accepted: short, a runner, quiet, sweet. Another stuck with it to the end, was offered a bid from one chapter, but ultimately declined, based on her experience of recruitment and what her ideas of sorority life and how it would fit into her college experience: short, funny, cute, outgoing, singer, busty. One got accepted at the sorority of her dreams -- the tall, blond, leggy, gorgeous girl. All of them had great recs, high GPAs, great "resumes." I'm a Greek, and so is my hubby. We saw all the young ladies hot-footing it to all the parties (and I mean this literally and figuratively, it was horrible during move-in day and I'm from Orlando!) After we moved our daughter into her room and were leaving, we were looking at the girls and saying, "yes, yes, yes, no, no, yes,no, no..." I haven't heard how many girls ultimately accepted bids, but it would be interesting to how many accepted bids, how many didn't receive any, how many delclined, etc. I don't think my daughter will go through recruitment next year -- and while I'm sad to say that my beautiful sister's pin wont be passed along to my daughter (I was a legacy), she has to do what's best for her. Who knows -- maybe I'll have a granddaughter one day who will need my pin!
|
Quite Possibly NolesMom
your granddaughter could end up as your "sister". You just never know.
Whereas nobody in our family had rushed except my husband's mother so daughter went into recruitment finding out she was a DZ legacy the day before she rushed (due to health problems going on with grandparents is reason so late). She knew it was too late to complete the legacy form so went through rush with an open mind. When recruitment was done, she received a bid to her first choice - DZ! And she called her Grandma to let her know that the family legacy at the same sorority would continue! |
Wow, bluepink, that's amazing! Maybe it was for the best that your daughter didn't know she was a legacy after all. Might have made her nervous that she might not get in!
FSU's recruitment is so much bigger than my experience of the same. I pledged in 1983, at a very Greek-hostile campus. Just had a room in the student center, and back then, there weren't even dorms on campus. |

Wanted to bump this story, too.

I want to hear 2013 updates! :)

Me too, AnchorAlum.

Just found this thread and wish I had found it before. I will be sharing with my daughter that just finished rush week and accepted her bid yesterday.
