THE BOYS have been found::D

Boys No More: I inquired a few weeks ago about whatever happened to former R&B group The Boys and many of you replied. Apparently, the former Motown sibling quartet is “boys” no more. In 1994, The Boys (Khiry, Hakim, Tajh and Bilal) decided to take a sabbatical from recording. They decided to visit Africa because they really felt connected to the country after previous visits. They began studying the practice of yoga and martial arts. During their voyage to Africa, they began to record music again, but not for commercial recognition. They came back to the U.S. after that trip to Africa and decided that they wanted to eventually move to Africa. In 1998 a friend of the groups organized a trip to Gambia, West Africa and The Boys decided to go along. They took some music equipment with them and told their father that if they thought they could survive, they would stay. They have resided in Africa ever since. They are now known as the Suns of Light, and continue to write and produce music in a studio that they opened in Africa. To learn more about the group that once made it big with songs like “Dial My Heart” and "Crazy", and to see how they look now, visit them online at http://www.SunsOfLightName.8k.com.

I quess no more "dial my heart" it's more like "dial Africa". You all I had to throw that joke in there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why did "the Deele" w/ Babyface and LA stop doing their own little group thing. Two Occasions was the bomb!!!!!!

I probably could not have made it through seventh and eighth grade without my Five Star albums. I thought Doris (the oldest sister) was gorgeous! Last I heard, the lead singer got pregnant by some rapper. Guess they couldn't "Wait Another Minute." :D

Some other folk I wouldn't mind seeing/hearing from:

Sharon Bryant, Barbara Weathers (both were at one time lead singers for Atlantic Starr, and they could sang

Tawatha Agee, female lead of Mtume ("Thigh Ride" was my stuff, child!)

Mica Paris ("My One Temptation") - I believe her last album was from 1998.

I FOUND KWAME:D :D :D

Kwame: Behind The Scenes:

By Dorit Kalev
Date: 10/4/2002 12:30 AM

Rap pioneer Kwame has returned to the front lines of the urban music industry by working behind the scenes as Producer for platinum-selling artists such as Mary J. Blige and LL Cool J.

Having sold over three million albums worldwide, Kwame is familiar with what it takes to create a strong street buzz. Currently, tracks produced by Kwame include: “10 Million Stars” on LL’s latest album 10 and an untitled track featuring Cam’Ron on K Slay’s album soon to be released by Def Jam/Violator.

In 1989, Kwame erupted onto the rap scene with his humorous, good-natured and intellectual rhymes, not to mention his individual sense of fashion style. His signature style turned Kwame into a household name amongst rap fans. By 1990, he produced the remix of “Lies” for En Vogue, and in 1991, worked with BBD to write their chart-topper “Poison.” In addition, Kwame wrote and performed songs for such films as "Dancing in September" and "Ghetto Dog."

After releasing his fourth album, Kwame took a few years off to redirect his talents by way of music education for children. Most recently, Kwame has produced “Scared of You,” which will appear on the soundtrack for 20th Century Fox film "Drum Line" due out later this year.

I used to rock this CD when it first came out and I listened to it for the first time in a LONG while the other day. Man, that CD brings back some memories! NOWorNEVER, they were looking real rough on the cover. And what was up with the sequined outifts inside the cover:eek: ?

I was taking a nap a few days ago and out of nowhere I wondered, "Whatever happened to Mint Condition?" I used to love them. They made some of the best songs. I was reminiscing on some of their best songs. "Pretty Brown Eyes," "Girl, You Send Me Swinging," and "What Kind of Man Would I Be" just take me there.

RedefinedDiva 02-23-2003 08:50 PM

What ever happened to Pure Soul? They sang "We must Be in Love." They came out with another song, but it was a flop....

Carl "COLE and COCKROACH" Payne

During America's Next Top Model, they showed a new preview of Rock Me Baby, but I saw Cole up in the mix wearing either twists or unbraided braids.

I think that you are mistaken. Maybe you have them mixed with with Intro. The lead singer of Intro recently passed away from AIDS.

I noticed that too. It took me like 15 seconds to recognize him. By then the commercial was over, so I wasn't sure if it was him or not.

I bought their album, back then and I still play it to this day. The album was good to me. I liked the last track called: Women That I Am.....That was my THEME song for a MINUTE back then.

;)

txdiva 06-11-2003 11:32 AM

I did a little backtracking and here is what I came up with:

Full Force-writing and producing for artists such as Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys

Nu Shooz-the pair divorced and thus, the end of the group

Jasmine Guy-saw her on a VH1 "One Hit Wonders" show; she is interested in doing another album

Jody Watley-just released a new CD a couple of months ago

The Good Girls-one member became an actress/model; she was featured in a straight-to-video movie w/Treach

The Time-still performing; heard them doing a live concert on Tom Joyner

SWV-Coko got married a couple of months ago and had another child; I think Taj got engaged to someone in the entertainment industry; either Taj or LeeLee just finished college; a new album is in the works!!!:)

Kut Klose-the lead singer, Athena Cage, left the group to pursue a solo career; her debut album was a major flop

BBD-released a new CD last year...ANOTHER FLOP!!!

Jade-split up

C+C Music Factory-one of the Cs in C+C, David Cole, passed away in the mid-90s. The surviving member kept the group going for a few years and released a couple of albums.

CrimsonTide4 06-11-2003 11:36 AM

Where Are They Now?: Whatever happened to Whitney Houston’s proteges Sunday? The quintet, that was managed by both Whitney and former business partner Robin Crawford, was signed to Capitol Records and released the single, “I Know.” These girls could really sing! Somebody let me know what’s the deal with Sunday.

Yup, here's the scoop that was given in Sister 2 Sister magazine:

Congratulations to SWV's Tamara "TAJ" Johnson who recently got engaged to NFL star Eddie George of the Tennessee Titans. Eddie decided that it was time to take their 7-year courtship to the next level.

To pop the question, Eddie enlisted the help of his friend Merlyn Mitchell and a singing group named Gifted Gentlemen. The caper went something like this: Eddie bought Taj a puppy as a gift, but planted the puppy with the male group who pretended to be walking the pooch along the Brooklyn Bridge. Meanwhile, Merlyn convinced Taj to bring Eddie to join her to meet a friend on the bridge.

When Taj saw the puppy she began playing with it. Soon, the guys told them that they were a singing group and began singing "Before I Let You Go" originally sung by BlackStreet. Then they opened their shirts and each successive chest revealed the airbrushed words "Will", "You", "Marry. . ." As Taj watched this display, Eddie turned to her and opened his shirt, which read "Me". He had gotten down on bended knee.

I was thinking the same thing about the 7 years. She must like pro sports players. I remember when she used to date Dennis Scott, formerly of the Orlando Magic.

Silk is on the way back. . .

ARE YOU WONDERING IF SILK IS STILL SMOOTH? Despite your answer, they still think so.

(Jun. 23, 2003) *Have you been wondering whatever happened to platinum selling crooners Silk? No, well we're gonna tell you anyway.
The music veterans are in the midst of releasing their fifth album and they've signed a worldwide distribution agreement to release their next album under their own banner, Silk Records.

The first single, "Silk Time (Take Control)," will debut next month with the album will follow on September 2.
