ANTM lets the drama get in the way to make good TV and keeps people around longer than they should for that reason. But I watch it anyway. LOL

LOL agreed. :p

Mollie Sue is actually doing very well with her modeling career right now, especially considering her age. It goes to show that it is just a reality show where they happen to take pictures and mention the word 'model' a lot.

Jade has also done very well, here and in several countries. Last year, I heard she'd made a huge name for herself in Singapore. I think several of the contestants who didn't win have gone extremely far (Ya-ya and Toccara being the non-winners I see most often).

BahamaMama05 05-09-2009 06:48 PM

I really thought Celia would have gone at least to the top two. The judges were always raving and raving about her, but I guess they got tired of her face.

I don't know WHO I want to win. I havent "wanted" anyone to win since Nik Pace (I think that was Cycle 5). Remember her? Pretty brown skinned one, with the hazel eyes. I even think Nigel had a crush on her lol :D

ASUADPi 05-11-2009 01:34 AM

Unless Allison totally bombs the covergirl shoot and commercial, I honestly see it being Allison and Teyona being the final two. The problem really is that the last time they showed Allison runway walking it was a disaster (but then agian they have done that before).

The reason I think Allison will be in the final two is because the covergirl shots tend to be beauty shots, and let's face it if the shot is anything to do with the eyes, Allison has got in in the bag.

As much as I like Aminet's personality, I just get the feeling that she won't make it to the final two.

Does anyone else get the feeling that they (the judges) choose the person who wouldn't "normally" get a contract, while the runner up would? If that makes sense at all?

True. I didn't think of that.

Ya know, thinking back on the 1st and 2nd place winners...you're right. It's kind of like the person who wouldn't normally get booked wins so they get an extra edge because whoever doesn't win will get booked anyway. It's like giving extra frames to the girl who needs it rather than the one who already rocks her photo shoots.

I concur! I also think it is pretty obvious that it will be Allison in the F2 with her... even Teyona suggested that she assumed Allison and her were going to be there on the last episode. SOOO, Aminat taking the title would be a big surprise. I am pretty confident though that it is Teyona, it has been rather predictable in the f3 as to who will take the crown in the past as well...

OK, I thought she was an adorable person just not much a fav in terms of who I thought made for a great model. But I see what you're saying.

lovespink88 05-13-2009 08:43 PM

I can't believe Teyona is in the final two... UGH

psychdesire 05-13-2009 08:51 PM

It is clear Allison has it.

WOW, I am shocked. GOOOO TEYONA!!!!! Sorry, spoiler post.

lovespink88 05-13-2009 08:57 PM

WTH. HER HAIRLINE STARTS ON THE TOP OF HER HEAD.

sceniczip 05-13-2009 08:59 PM

I still like Allison better but I had a feeling it would be Teyona

AOIIalum 05-13-2009 09:05 PM

Wow. After watching the entire season playback on Oxygen this week I thought for sure it would be Allison.

ASUADPi 05-13-2009 09:19 PM

not on yet here, but let's face it, Allison will still end up with a contract somewhere.

has anyone noticed that models who weren't the winner tend to have a better career than the winner?

some rare cases, the winner does better like with Danielle. She is still the only model with a on-going contract out of all the bunch. I like that the others are doing better because some winners were blah! I see Bianca is doing great things!

With the exception of Eva and Danielle, I agree. Most of the non-winners were voted off because of their wild/off personalities, but ironically, that's what has made them popular.

Was it just me, or was the fashion show kind of...off? The setup, etc just seemed very amateur. I would expect more in a place like Brazil (considering how many BEAUTIFUL models that country spits out).

yea, that's true. When they said the runway was fast... it was not as fast as a normal runway show, the make-up was not as high-fashioned as the other shows were, but I enjoyed the last part of the runway. If I was a photographer, I would have gotten numerous editorial shots from the poses they made.

So does Tyra's and she did pretty well (even back in the day before she started wearing wigs with acceptable hairlines).

I'm not elated, not disappointed. I would've been happier the other way around, but I didn't expect it. Congrats to the winner.

I think some of the fashion shows are not real fashions shows. For example, Cycle 7? (CariDee & Melrose). It seemed very staged to me. Especially that part where Miss Jay runs out and then shows up on the runway. I'm pretty sure that wouldn't happen in a real fashion show, lol

I dunno, I think Tyra just has a big forehead...And I know something about big foreheads...I'd say I have a five-head ;)

But I dunno, to me it just looks like it starts on the top of her head. They really should have given her a better makeover. I just think the one they gave her is awful.

Was that the one with the long, cave looking hallway? That one was at least interesting. This one looked like they forgot all the props but decided to have the show anyway. The end was the only redeeming part.

Plus, we had to look at and listen to McKey's boring self again.

That's the one! In the beginning, they have a bunch of people line up along the runway holding candles. I really think they just went up to random people on the street and asked if they wanted to be in the audience lol

I think Cycle 9 (Saleisha & Chantal) was also very staged. I can't even remember seeing an audience. (I could be wrong, but I can't remember)

knight_shadow 05-13-2009 10:58 PM

I just think Tyra and Company is running out of ideas lol

KDAngel 05-14-2009 01:51 AM

Knew Teyona was going to win, but LOVED Allison to the very end.

LeslieAGD 05-14-2009 09:16 AM

I knew before the show even started that they would go with Teyona...but it should have been Allison. Allison had a much better critique and a much better performance in both the commercial and the final runway show. Oh well, Tyra is predictable.

I'm surprised that no one mentioned that Paulina has been fired. Any guesses on who the new judge will be next season?

You know, I was going to come on and say "WORST WINNER EVER!!" until you reminded me of Tootie aka Saleisha aka OMG it's such a coincidence that you won and you've been on Tyra's TV show and who knows what else. CG is probably already counting the days till Teyona's contract is up.

This was so predictable. I wonder if they have a noncompete - Maybelline or someone should snap Allison up because her CG shoot was unbelievable.

Supposedly Paulina was fired to cut some of the fat (not literal fat, but paying her). I wouldn't be surprised if Ann Shoket is the new judge, considering her lips are perma-glued to Tyra's ass.

srmom 05-14-2009 11:29 AM

I'm sorry, but praising Teyanna for waving her weave around like a lunatic after she pulled it off her head during the writhing on the runway??? WTH!!!

Allison should have won, but whatever, she will be the more successful model in the long run (imo), she has an incredibly unique look and photographs beautifully. They can work with the awkward walk, although I think she did better than Teyanna in the final show...

bostongreek 05-14-2009 11:40 AM

Cycle 12 losers are already getting contracts. Allison and Fo were signed to Nous and Jessica and Natalie were both signed to Ford LA.

Oh that is good to hear. Fo was one of my favorites.

Honeykiss1974 05-15-2009 02:11 PM

I'll admit that I didn't watch this show in it's entirety but while looking at USweekly online, I saw a pic of the girl that won. Is this just a bad pic or is this really the winner?!?!?!

Nope. That is really the winner. And thats a pretty good picture of her. Sigh.

groovypq 05-15-2009 02:43 PM

Why didn't they give her bangs during the makeover? That looks so much better, I think.

srmom 05-15-2009 04:17 PM

No, it's actually kind of a scary picture

She took many more flattering pictures during the photo shoots for the show!!

LeslieAGD 05-15-2009 04:25 PM

Teyona is plain ugly when she smiles. All of her best pictures are with a closed mouth and a more serious face.

That's going to work out well for her as a Cover Girl.

AlphaFrog 05-15-2009 05:13 PM

I haven't read the whole thread, so excuse me if this has already been said, but Teyona won because the last two winners have been white and it was a black girl's turn. Her commercial was weaker, her CG photo was weaker, her runway was pretty equal with Allison, and her body of work overall was pretty equal with Allison. And that last hairstyle she had with the pencil-thin ponytail was hideous.

ree-Xi 05-16-2009 01:54 PM

I felt so gipped, I actually cried when Allison lost.

Did you see Nigel's face when they all were backstage and talking about Teyona's next steps?

Maybe this (Teyona winning) is the real reason behind Paulina's firing. Maybe Paulina was the "oddball" who didn't want Teyona to win and she fought for Allison.

I do think you are right though AlphaFrog (as un "PC" as that sounds). Teyona's picture and commercial were far weaker than Allison. If she was "sooooo" strong, she would have been called first but Allison was.

Although, I'm glad to hear that Allison received a contract.

What's sad though is that we rarely see models gracing the covers of magazines anymore, mostly its "stars". Models really only do the shoots for the outfits (that normal people can't afford) inside the mag.

Ooooohh, good point! I never thought of that!

BabyPiNK_FL 05-17-2009 11:48 AM

I do not see ANTM picking based on race. The judges picked someone who had been a strong competitor during the entire competition.

I seems that a lot of people on many message boards have a negative emotional response to Allison's loss, but please stop bringing race into the picture. Tyra and the judges chose who they felt would be the best post competiton. And it wasn't because she's black and it's her "turn".

There have been many times where black models did not win and that was because the judges felt that another competitor had more to offer. They did not win because they were "white". This is ANTM, not America's Next Top Affirmitive Action, America's Next Top Race War, America's Next Top Take Turns, or anything else.

I agree with you. I've also seen many people, especially on the ANTM Facebook group, and ANTM board on the cwtv.com, say that they believe that the reason she won was because it was a "black girl's turn". I don't think it was the case this time. I think Tyra just always develops a favorite for one reason or another, and when she does that person usually wins the competition. From the very beginning, Tyra had this annoying obsession with Teyona's "natural wind in the face expression", which personally was the reason I never liked Teyona's look. She talked about it quite a bit in the beginning of the show. I don't know, the whole thing just made me feel like she REALLY REALLY liked Teyona...and therefore, she was going to have her win.

The only time I ever think they let someone win because it was their "turn" was when Whitney won. I think they were feeling some pressure because a plus size model never made it past like the top 6. So when a good (not great) plus size model came along, they let her win, so they could say that they've had a plus size top model. Some may disagree, but I really think that's what happened there. She was a pretty girl, and I liked her personality, but I think there were FAR more qualified girls who should have won instead.
