Plus there aren't 9 sororities at this campus. I think most of you know which one I am currently attending, but for those who don't well, let them guess.
|
Well good luck with your new recruitment! I love this story...so many claim to be different, but I think this really is! I've enjoyed this read, and I'm glad to hear more...but more so glad that you get a second chance!
|
Good luck! I think one reason I have been hooked about your story is because of your Grandmother's pin.
|
Good Luck! I don't usually get into recruitment stories... but this one is a good one, and I really hope you find your home.

I am sorry about your family's illness. My grandmother had Alzheimer's, and you're right it is a crappy, crappy disease. I've recently had a loss in my family due to another illness. I wish you and your family all the best! My thoughts and prayers are with you! |

Best of luck with the rest of recruitment, WCsweet<3! Is Beavers at your current school? Yes, Alzheimer's is a crappy disease. My grandmother's sister and boyfriend had it. That (and because Alzheimer's disease research is SK's philanthropy) are why I am doing Memory Walk in a couple weeks! |
Good luck WCsweet<3 !!! I look forward to hearing more of your story!! :)
It seems that Alzheimer's has touched many people's lives here on GC.:( My grandmother was also a victim. Since we didn't have a Sigma Kappa chapter at my alma mater, I had no idea that their philanthropy works to eliminate Alzheimer's! That is awesome! |
I am sorry that you have to deal with Alzheimer's as well. My maternal grandmother was stricken with it. I had always been closer to her than any other grandparent. Because of it, she was unable to attend my wedding. I think one of the saddest moments of my life was when I shared my wedding album with her and she had no idea who I was or who was in the pictures. :(
I hope you have a wonderful recruitment this time! Fingers crossed for you. :) |
I moved in a little less than a week before classes started. I had wanted to live on campus, but the dorms were overflowing (literally). My school contacted an apartment complex to use as pseudo-dorms. I thought that was cool and signed up. After moving in, I realized I would not be as great a friends with my new suitemates as I was with Chicago. They are great girls, but very private and there is a large language barrier as they are all international students. With my first classes, I made some new friends, but was still feeling out of the loop. The first day of classes, all the sorority girls wore the same shirt. In between and during classes, I grew nervous. Would the ones in my classes remember me? Would some of them recognize me from my recs?
This University had: Sun Devils Bears Beavers Ducks Wildcats Cardinals Bruins Trojans This time by the way I had recs to: Sun Devils Bears Ducks Cardinal Bruins Trojans x2 It pays to look at your old babysitters and brother's ex-girlfriends, if they are in good standing that is. I realize I could have asked Chicago for a rec or for a person who could write me a letter. I felt somewhat awkward though and decided to skip it. I did try to contact an alumnae group for Beavers and Wildcats but there was no response. Hopefully not using Chicago will not turn out to be a mistake. I was excited to learn about Cardinal because they were not on my last campus and I knew very little about them. The night before orientation, my rho gamma called me. I asked her about transportation and she offered to drive me home! I already liked her more than my past rho gammas! |
Thank you for all your thoughts for my grandmother. This has been hard on my family as she has been the only grandparent I ever really knew.
We all have reached a pretty stable mental state and have realized she would be happier if she was not on Earth anymore. My brother and I have realized she is not the person that we knew and loved. My mother was never close to her. My father is having a difficult time, but that is another story. Thank you for all your thoughts. We are currently waiting for the end which can come at any moment. TrideltaSallie, I understand how you feel. I was named after my grandmother and she cannot remember my name, even on the days she remembers me. Thank you all for your thoughts. |

You've got support in members of GC, both for your recruitment and for you grandmother. You also may soon have support from sisters. When my mom passed, at least 10 or 15 of them stopped whatever they were doing and came to my hometown for the services. Nothing they had ever done, since I joined, ever meant so much to me. |
I'm kind of a late-comer to this thread, but I find it really interesting that your new school only has one chapter different from your old school. :)
Good luck as you go through recruitment. :) |
The code names are the same! I'm not that creative.
When I first started looking, I thought it was weird that there was no Huskies or Cougars. I was so confused about Cardinals. I thought it was a local or something, but no all the sororities are national. |
Orientation
Tonight was orientation! I love my Rho Gammas they are so cool! There were a lot more girls than I expected. 618 girls had signed up for recruitment! There was one girl in my group who I had grown up with. Her mom wrote me a letter to Bruins and her sister to Trojans. Apparently, neither had told her I transferred or was going through recruitment. The meeting was typical. The Panhellenic leaders were introduced and rules were explained. One thing I really liked was when a chapter was named all the Rho Gammas did a cheer from that house. It was so cute. Also there were five other sophomores in my group. YAY! I’m not alone!
|
I'm glad you had a good time, but try to remember that you don't have to decide whether or not you belong in a house after one party! If you make split second decisions like this, you aren't giving the houses a chance to show you who they are. Do you really think you know anything about these chapters after meeting a handful of sisters? Keep an open mind...and good luck with the rest of recruitment.
