I don't even watch Nancy Grace - I caught this on Yahoo, then CNN & Fox News. I will be the first to admit that, when it comes to the death or disappearance of a child, I am very harsh on the actions taken or not taken by the parents in light of that fact. I don't need a newscaster to guage my reaction to any uncaring act taken by the parents.

What I find truly dispicable is the various news sources picking and choosing WHICH of these crimes should receive star treatment, and which should not.

I agree. But I think people think this is even more heinous, because the mother partied and didn't report it. I hope they will reconsider the death penalty now that they body has been found (presumably.)

In a side note--On the comparison of Nancy Grace to Paula Deen-- at least Paula Deen gives us some really good comfort food recipes. *lmao* She is a little annoying, but her restaurant kicks ass. We try to go there once a year.... *sigh* but it's been a while.

My butt gets bigger every time I see her on TV. I'm about 4,000 lbs now.

Too true.

The thing is, it isn't that this story isn't newsworthy -- in context and proportion. But it's just plain crazy to treat it as the news story night after night after week after week after month after month.

And sure I just had lunch, but after reading the most recent posts, I could really go for a plate of Paula Deen's hoecakes right about now.

This story breaks my heart more than just about any other story currently on the news, probably because Caylee was about the age of my daughter and I can relate so easily. I fortunately don't have much time to watch the news these days so I haven't had to see much of the coverage.

OMG - have you tried her Gooey Chocolate Butter Cookies? Best. Cookies. Ever.

This reminds me of "Gooy Buns," or whatever they were. Even though Paula Deen is cute, awesome, and addicted to butter, I can't eat anything with the word "gooey" in it.

Whenever anyone mentions Paula Deen, I think of this Anthony Bourdain post:

Believe it or not, I'm not much of a chocolate fan. Really don't like chocolate cake, cookies or ice cream. And like Munchkin said, the "gooey" in the name carries way too many negative GC connotations.

SydneyK 12-12-2008 02:40 PM

lol... I never connected those wonderful cookies with the awful things they're now associated with! I won't let GC ruin this for me!!! How 'bout we just quietly change the name to Yummy Chocolate Butter Cookies?

Agreed - this is pretty much the point I was trying to make, stated more elegantly.

Any cookie with "butter" in the title gets a no from me.

And YES, that INCLUDES Peanut Butter.

Butter may be perfectly acceptable as an ingredient, but if you can't come up with anything more descriptive than "butter something or other" for a name the cookie probably isn't that good anyway.

ETA: I need to stop hijacking this thread.

Caylee Anthony. Poor little girl. Very sad story. Nancy Grace is evil.

Resume thread.

Nononononono.

Discussion of sugar laden goodness is far more newsworthy.

Please continue.

I can only reference Nancy Grace's show, but most of the time her show is a repeat. So I wouldn't say that it was "newsworthy" night after night, but Nancy Grace is lame enough to show like one 'episode' of her show and then put it on repeat week after week.

Once I realized that (i mean, it couldn't be breaking news when she showed it like 2 weeks ago! lol) I stopped tuning in.

ETA: I'm totally going to try Paula Deen's "roasted Turkey." It look soo good.

It's been confirmed that the body found in the woods near the Anthony home is little Caylee.
