Buffets

Whenever my family goes to an all-you-can-eat buffet, we always recite the mantra, "You bigga boys. You eat too much. You go now!" We always laugh before the meal and no one around us knows why! Paula M. Sigma Delta Tau ΣΔT Patriae Multi Spes Una One Hope of Many People |

I'm not exactly sure how the story went but it culminated in the restaurant owner yelling at my brother "you been here 4 owahs (hours)" My mom still cracks up at it, and she constantly jokes around when we are together as a family spending a lot of time in a restaurant! lol |

i used to work with inner city girls when i was coming out of high school. one day after a trip to DC i took them to Golden Corral. after i got up to pay, WHY did one of the girls break out a tupperware container??? she said she wanted to take some chicken home for dinner, and all that did was start a wave of "oh hell yeah! give me some napkins" and every girl in there left with more food than they came with. i didnt know what went down until we got outside to the van, and it was filled with the smell of brownies and chicken lol! i explained that even though i know a lot of them were in difficult (i.e. poor) circumstances at home, that it was wrong to do that. and i never took them to a buffet again... |

Re Tex-Mex: My MIL moved to Texas last year and she is miserable having grown up in so Cal with Mex-Mex food. The first time she ordered an enchilada they dumped chili on it. I've also heard that their guacamole is just mashed avocados, eww. Give me real Mexican food any day. |

You do know that guacamole is essentially mashed avocados (with a couple other ingredients)? It's not a Tex-Mex thing, it's a Mexican thing. |

Well, there are no beans in chili. :) I am a big fan of Sante Fe Stew, which is similar to chili - but it has beans (see the recipe thread for the actual recipe.) I'm not ready to revoke your Texan card, Eppie - but please don't tell me you put it on spaghetti a la Cincinnati-style "chili".
And I'd say guacamole has moved from strictly Mex-Mex to being a part of Tex-Mex and even Cali-Mex food. Mexican food (the truly Mexican) is, of course, the mother-cuisine of Tex-Mex, Cali-Mex, and New Mex food. |

It seems as though i'm mistaking stew and chili, but we really don't have a lot of places that make chili. The only place I can think of (at the moment) that makes chili is part of the Wendy's menu and it has beans on it. Quote:
