I first learned about sororities the summer before my freshman year in college. I was 17.

My sophomore year of college when I found out that sororities were not for blond girls looking for husbands (my parents were not a good influence for Greek life and discouraged me throughout my new member period)

My senior year of high school when I received a brochure for a Greek Preview weekend. My mom said my eyes lit up and she knew I was completely gung-ho, which was a pretty accurate reading of how I felt. :)

The 's to denote plural is not quite as annoying as "mines."

Freshman year of college after my roommate dropped out of rush and two of the girls across the hall accepted their bids. It just seemed so fun. I had all of my freshman year to watch Greek life from the outside and rushed my sophomore year.

I'm interested to see when, approximately, all of you began the thought of Greek Life. :D

I have wanted to be a Delta since the second grade! It happened thankfully, so be persistant and know your information!

I never considered joining a fraternity until getting into college. I decided to join a fraternity at the age of 18 spring semester of my freshman year.

Before going to college I believe a lot of the stereotypes about Greek Life. These were slightly reinforced because of family members in Greek Life. When I was a sophomore, two of my close friends joined sororities and helped me to erase those stereotypes. These friends were the ones who encouraged me to join the charter class of Theta at my campus!

i got interested in greek life a few weeks before rush my freshman year. One of my friends from high school convinced me to rush with her during our orientation week. It was one of the best decisions of my life!

I was 16 when I decided to go Greek. That was my main reason for going to college because I didnt want to go. Im glad I did, not just to pledge, but for the whole college experience.

My story is a little bit different from everyone's being that I'm a first generation college student. Noone in my family has ever been a member of any type of GLO so until I got to college, I didn't know anything about greeks. I did a lot of community service on my own. That's where I met members of various GLOs and became friends with some of them. After being exposed through them, I became interested.

I can't even imagine thinking about sororities while I was in high school - I was too busy with everything I had going on. It would have been an unnecessary added stress!

My senior year in high school when I saw all of the members of the previous year's graduating class returning to visit the school wearing their pledge pins.

Ditto. Except that technically, I am not 1st generation college. My grandfather attended college (for Mechanical Engineering). My stepdad has his M.S. My grandmother attended college in her 50s. And, my great-grandmother attended a teaching college.

I AM the first person to think about going Greek. My family thought I was from outer space when I told them I was rushing. I would have rushed as a 1st semester freshman, but my boyfriend at the time convinced me that it was NOT something I wanted to do. (Not being Greek, I had NO idea what he said was a lie...) So, we broke up. And, I transferred to Ole Miss the next year. I was a sophomore at MTSU. But, was still considered a freshman at Ole Miss.

No one I know thinks about rushing in high school...
