I had a bf who has the same last name as I do. It wasn't really weird as much as it was hilarious.. all of our friends would give us a hard time about it. At formal, my chapter would hand out the "Most Likely" awards, which were fun awards that usually alluded to some inside joke. The year I was dating him I was recognized as "The sister most likely to date her cousin". Yea... lol

There is a woman at the company I work for whose name is Nancy Chancy. I laugh every time I see it :D

I've been in relationships with 3 different Adams, and yes, my friends and family will always ask questions like, "Now wait.. was that Adam 1 or Adam 2 that you dated in your first year of college?"


I also recently dated a John... John and Kate. A whoooooooole lot of people asked me if we were going to have 8 children...


And to all of the people here who have said, "I have a very feminine/masculine name.. I doubt a member of the opposite sex would have it.." I'm reminded of the movie 'Eurotrip' with the girl named Mike (pronounced Meeka). So, you neeevveeer knoooow...

What was awkward for me was dating someone with the same name as my dad...

I've never met or heard of a guy with the same first name as mine. I mean, my name is very feminine. Well, there is one exception... Him. And he spells his "sey" I spell mine "say".

Would I date a guy with the same first name as mine? As long as he's physically attractive, and he treats me well, I would be fine with it.

My name is feminine (though in this one org I'm in they called this guy by his last name (my first name). They said they can't call him that anymore (since its my first name), they were of course joking. My dad wanted to call me by my middle name which is used for girls and guys. I would not be turned off from dating a guy with my middle name. In an org that I used to work for there was a cute guy who had my middle name as his first. I wouldn't have minded dating him. However, that guy is a player so that unfortunately won't be happening :(.

My name is pretty unique, not a lot of people have it. But I've searched it and seen men with that name so it could happen. I think I'd be fine with it but, given that I kinda want to name my future daughter after myself....that could get awkward if I married that guy. A family of 3 and we ALL have the same name?

There was a girl who I was in undergrad with who had the same name as mine. She was dating my brother at the time. But, her name was spelled differently.

A woman having the same name as mine isn't a deal breaker for me, though.

Actually a cousin's son has that name and at Christmas he was like "Are you talkin to me or her?" He's 6 and super cute haha and it was a very obviously directed at him question but still confusing.

I wouldn't be terribly bothered to date a man named Kelly. It's mostly a female name these days; but, it has been used as a male name. If I married the guy, however, I might have to keep my maiden name. I imagine that it would be confusing and awkward to have the exact same name as my spouse.

My husband, my dad, my dad's cousin, my grandmother's husband & his son all have the same name. Doesn't really bother me; I don't call any of them the same thing anyway. My husband has one nickname, my dad I call Dad, my grandmother's husband has another nickname, and I never see the other relatives to call them anything.

I got sidetracked and didn't answer the initial question but any guy who had my first name would have to be a drag queen. So, no I wouldn't.

Lindsey as a male name is more common in the UK than the US. Ashley too.

My coworker's name is the same as his fiancee - when they get married she's taking his last name. Also, both of their middle names start with A.

Both of those as female names are relatively recent phenomenons anyway.

My name, Tracey, is one of those "gender neutral but frequently female" names. I have met men with the name Tracey, but was never attracted or tempted, mostly because they were posh and boring.

My birth name is pretty unusual, there aren't many of us outside of Western PA, and now that I'm married (to a Patrick) and have a hyphenated last name, there are few (none?) duplicates.

Incidentally, in my family we had a string of Davids...my dad, my grandfather, and my step-uncle (he didn't last long).

My brother married a Patricia, I married a Patrick. She goes by Patty, he goes by Pat..bad thing is that their names are right below each other in my cell phone. I've sent my SIL a few lovey dovey texts. Thankfully she thinks it is hilarious.

Finally, I got a new coworker this week...who is a Tracy. She and I have the same job description, and share a (rather cramped) office. We work together on almost everything. To further complicate things, we have the SAME BLOODY INITIALS. It is driving our coworkers crazy, because right now we share a phone until she gets her own line. "Which Tracey/y do you want?" The interim solution is being called by last names until we sort it out or get nicknames.

I worked with another Denise. She was a Recreation Therapist, I was an Occupational Therapist so we were Denise RT and Denise OT. When I talk to her, even now, and she answers the phone, I say "Hi Denise, it's the Other Denise!" We both quit those jobs on the same day because we'd both gotten jobs at another hospital on the same unit again. It was great :) She got married before me or else we would have had the same initials for a while too.

I've never met a man named Denise.. I doubt there are any. Dennis maybe...
