I confronted the pledge and asked for his discharge papers..made it sound like the board of trustees was more interested than myself so i wouldn't sound like a dick. But after hearing that it, "May take a while" to get his papers i finally asked the question, "Straight up, were you in the Army?" He came forward that he had in fact fabricated the entire thing. The fake dog tags, the bs story, this kid went as far as to fake flashbacks all lies. His reasoning was that one night he had been drinking and told some brothers he was in the military and it snowballed and got out of control.

Regardless i gave him an oppertunity to tell his pledge brothers that weekend and the chapter. So i remained silent and after the weekend...nothing he didnt say a word about it. So at meeting i explained the situation to the chapter, we discussed it and decided that our chapter would be better off without him pledging. It was hard telling this kid he couldn't pledge anymore but the president and i sat him down and politely asked for his pin back. i still feel the chapter made a good choice.

Good for you, man. I think you handled the whole thing like a gentleman.

I agree with the posters above me. I'm sorry that it had to come down to this; but, you handled it well.
