I looked on GC and saw there was a thread about her in the sigma forum. Prior to that I wasnt sure if she was wearing the jersey, just to wear it, or if she was actually a member.

And yeah - that "plus size" model was gorgeous.

Carrie is a Tri Sigma from Northeastern Oklahoma State University, the Alpha Iota (coincidence that she won American Idol) chapter. She actually spoke at a recent Tri Sigma Convention (2007, right?). Not only is she famous and notable, she still contributes to her GLO.

Absolutely! She is one "reality TV Greek" that we are all proud of! She's helped with Foundation efforts, is the spokesperson for e-mail campaigns and chose to wear her collegiate jersey for her video. If only all notable alumnae were that involved...

I know Deborah Norville did a whole segment on her affiliation with Delta Delta Delta on Inside Edition a while back - it was adorable!

Oh... and she represented DST correctly! :D

I can't believe that's plus size.

I've always liked Deborah Norville. It's really cute that she did that Tri Delt segment.

So this thread got me to thinking..... I have often had people tell me that "so and so" is a member of this GLO but once I look on their respective site I can find no trace of them. For example, someone on GC told me that Cindy McCain was a Theta, but she is not listed on our national website. Any insight on this?

It's up to each GLO to determine which alums get a spot on their 'Notable Alumnae' list. Does Theta have a member directory online that you can view?

I'm sure Mrs. McCain's got a resume of noteworthy accomplishments, but maybe "wife of Presidential Candidate" isn't quite enough to land her on that list yet? JMHO.

Which brings up another thing...

I just don't get it when relatives of famous people are automatically added to the 'Famous Alums' list. Just because the member's dad/brother/son/insert relation here is famous, doesn't always mean that she is. I'd rather see a member who is notable in her own right...not just because she's related to so and so.

What I like best about Gamma Phi's notable alumnae list isn't even the most famous - it's the sheer range of achievement represented. Sure, you don't recognize every name, but you as you look at what they've achieved you can't help but be impressed - and that's true of every GLO's list.

Same here. Honestly I don't care if Suzy Q. Actress is a sister so much as someone who has been a prolific author for a couple of decades, for instance. I'm sure she worked hard, went to lots of auditions, and waited tables in her time, but let's face it, most of the time it's about being pretty and I don't give credit for something you're born with.

She is listed on inCircle as a member of the USC chapter.

Thanks, I found that now. I had originally looked on the "Notable Thetas" listing.

I have been so waiting for a thread that mentioned Betty Crocker, and I don't know how I missed this! I found the following under "Accomplished Members" on the Alpha Delta Pi site:

<>Agnes White Tizard, Sigma, Nutritionist; "Betty Crocker" authored Betty Crocker cookbook.

ACK!!!

And of course, both Nancy Grace and Judy Woodruff are also ADPis:

<>Nancy Grace, Delta Theta, hosts televison show on CNN Headline News.

<>Judy Woodruff, Omicron, Past correspondent, McNeil-Lehrer News Hour; principal anchor for CNN.

We have both sides of the political aisles covered!

2) Each proudly represented the fraternity while on the air.
3) Kefla was EXTREMELY popular among college students at the time.
4) Gabriel was considered to be part of the first all-black reality show, as BET described it.

I don't include Sean from Road Rules Semester at Sea because he was not an Alpha at the time of filming.

But this is my own list that I maintain as a service/courtesy to brothers and members of the public who might say "Oh, I didn't know ______ is an Alpha!"

It's not finished, but here's a looksie: http://mulambda.org/page.php?parent_id=&page_id=15979

That's my buddy!!! I miss JY!!
